I decided to go with Turbo tax since I saw that they had a special for this tax year. I filed with them and to my delight I ended up getting a refund of $807. They said they double checked everything and it was good to good.
Fast forward a month later: I get a letter from the IRS for $593!
I was furious and called customer support. They couldn't help me because of (insert new governmental regulation here) and still charged me $78 which was supposed to come out of my refund they screwed up!
I will never be using them again and I hope all of you read this review so you don't get scammed like how I did.
I will NEVER use Turbo tax again! I opted for a paper check they sent my money to their third party bank (Santa Barbra tax products group) its been I year and 4 months and I still haven't seen a penny of my money. Santa Barbra places you on hold for hours then disconnects your call. Turbo tax has extremely rude and unknowledgeable employees. I am a male and one of their employees legit asked me additional security questions and laughed, when I asked why he was laughing he then said " so your Jeffrey?" I said yes... He laughed a again and said "you just don't sound like a Jeffrey." This was also a MANAGER i asked to speak to then after getting no help but being insulted he hung up on me.
Turbo tax over charged me by $250. Their customer service rep was zero help. They sent me a discount code, approved, yet still did not apply it to the amount they charged me.
Turbo tax forced me to pay upfront even though there was zero issue stopping them from taking their cut from my refund, even their customer service rep was completely confused by this.
All in all, after 7 years patronage to this company- I'm moving on!

I should have just had my accountant do my daughter's taxes after signing up for Turbo Tax "free" service I have now spent more than my accountant would have charged me and now we are trying to figure out how to get the refund after paying Turbo Tax $109 for their "free" service. Stay away!
I've been using TurboTax for at least 8 years. Our filing is very simple, both retired and income only from Soc. Security and RMD. Never had any complaints with TurboTax performance, but this year it was different.
1. TurboTax couldn't open its own copy of last year's filing document (it tried 3 times). As a result I had to manually enter lots of information that could have easily be copied from the old filing document.
2. When it came to the RMD information from our Financial institution where our 401k is, TurboTax wanted our username and password. I could not believe this... it really wanted full access to all of our money. Other years TurboTax was able to retrieve this information just with the TIN number. Of course I couldn't risk such idiotic request and therefore, I had to also enter all the information manually. But before doing that I was in such disbelieve that I thought I had end up, somehow, at an scam page or phishing site somehow. So I spent about two hours checking in the internet the web address I was at and reading reviews about this.
3. TurboTax for some reason wanted me to sign in with Credit Karma (3 times during the filing process) this is an independent company that can help with the tracking of the refund money and also getting the refund faster (5 days) normally the return takes not more than 2 weeks. I didn't need this service, but they kept insisting on it arguing that the service was free. Everybody knows there isn't such thing. After you sign you don't know what they do with your information and at minimum you'll get a ton of emails from different places. It's just not worth it. In the end I couldn't print my return or save it to my computer unless I sign with this guys. I had to back up several screens and search other ways to get my document and it wasn't straight forward to do this.
4. Finally, while going through some reviews of TurboTax I found out that is one of the most expensive services there is this days.
5. I did submitted a complain with TurboTax itself at the end of the filing process. I haven't heard anything back from them.
Conclusion: never again with TurboTax, they are not only inefficient but dangerous too.
Horrible support line. Long wait times, line disconnects, and poor audio. I finally got to speak with Yavette this morning. She tried to help. But it was obvious she was reading prepared information. Finally she suggested I should file a paper return by mail, or pay for a "tax expert " to do my return. Apparently Intuit is hiring anyone who can answer a phone to handle their customers calls.
As a longtime TurboTax advantage customer, I paid for and received the 2021 tax year version and loaded it as a disk. The disk was corrupted and had no function for entering Social Security income, which a customer service representative was able to see for herself.
But Intuit corrupted my turbo tax advantage account and lost the payment history, although the registration number does show. Even the product code on the disk was "an old number", whatever that means. TurboTax would not give me a substitute free online version Because the representative couldn't see that I'd paid for the first corrupted, useless disc. That was in spite of the fact that another representative could see that the 2021 program was loaded onto my computer.
There is absolutely no reason to buy another product from them. I don't know if my payment will be recorded or if the software will function properly at all.
TurboTax used to be a very helpful reasonably priced product. It is not anymore. Don't get TurboTax.
I've used TurboTax for years. I will never again use them. They tried to steal some of my refund. I called to get it back. They told me they double charged something. Lies! It's been a month and I'm still waiting. Don't used them!
I have always done my taxes on my own thanks to turbotax. It has been years of using turbotax. It is so simple to use, gives me insights for all tax situations. It can get costly depending on your tax situation and needs, but certainly cheaper than going to a tax accountant.
Purchased a cd from Sams club and installed it on a computer, the computer dies on me. The new computer does not have a CD drive and intuit says too bad so sad buy it again and download it.
COMPLETE BS I HATE DEALING WITH STUPID PEOPLE AND COMPANIES. THIS PROBLEM COULD BE EASLITY SOLVED BUT THEY DO NOT WISH TO HELP. SO I HAVE TO TAKE IT BACK TO SAMS AND TELL THEM IT DOES NOT WORK AND I NEED TO EXCHANGE IT FOR ANOTHER COPY.
They guarantee 100% complete accuracy and they DO NOT STAND BEHIND IT! They are a total waste of money and i would never use them again! Poor customer service all the way around! Please DO NOT waste your money on their overpriced products! They do not care about customers, they just take your money and then it's your tough luck!
The worst. It seems like a criminal enterprise. I had used the service for 8 years, but since they were bought, they were reported for a "fees from refund" problem and now are using an alleged "bug" to hold your nearly finished return hostage when you don't agree to an up-sell to a more expensive version and/or pay for customer support. The customer service system is a well designed defensive barrier. After days of trying, with no help at all, I reported them. The IRS advised me to abandon my partial return and go elsewhere, due to changes at Intuit. The FTC listed the complaint in the Sentinel database for law enforcement.

I've filed for free for 2 years and now they say I have to pay for the deluxe because " I have a complicated tax file this year" even tho I made the same amount with the same employer. Complete garbage company, never using TurboTax again
Do not ever trust this company TurboTax is not a company of itself first off; The company Intuit is there third party the specialists do not even know this! I unfortunately decided to use this company when I was paid taxes in 2021 was never going to use them again however they kept me because they said that I would not have to pay to have a specialist. Well that ship sailed and they are nothing but lies. Now currently as of March 21,2022 I looked up through the IRS where my taxes were, ended up on a phone call for four hours with the IRS to find out that TurboTax the company filed my taxes the previous year incorrectly. What the IRS told me is that the filing the math was wrong it was documented incorrectly I use TurboTax. TurboTax got the math wrong for filing taxes $2500 I would have owed if I did not receive stimulus checks. I still an out about $5000 because of TurboTax luckily I now get a change from taxes this year back because my taxes were taken because of this horrific horrible company. Do not use you will get in trouble with the IRS possibly they are full of lies misleading and they do not care. They are company to do taxes yet they can't even get math correct.
This is the worst program and gets worse each year.
First your can't import the previous years version so you needlessly re-enter data each year.
Second, some forms wont accept your data, so you get into an endless loop.
Third, when you call, you can't talk to a person. An automated system asks for the email address you use to sign in, even though I have a user name. And the system is hopeless at understanding you...
If you can, use another product.
Stay away from Turbotax. I've used it for years because unfortunately I don't know of a competitor. This year has been a nightmare. I finished and in the review it keeps stating that my 1099 NEC is lacking information. It is very ambiguous and I cannot find the answer. I have called Turbotax 9 times, and have not gotten through to anyone who could help. I have wasted hours on hold and spoken to people who said they would transfer the call. Each time, after at least 30 minutes on hold, I have been disconnected. I have spoken to several accountants, including at my employment, and they have no idea what the problem is. Turbotax is terrible. Stay away!

I will Never use Turbo Tax again. They lie and say it is $0 but when u get your taxes back they have taken $300 out of your account. There are other people who are way cheaper than them and they may as well lose my email address if they don't want their feelings hurt. That is crazy. If you want all of the amount they said you will be receiving then please don't file with Turbo Tax. Besides that I was suppose to been receiving $82 in State they took that too. If I don't have to put one star down I wouldn't have done it because they don't deserve even that one star. The worst place I have ever experienced.
My Turbo Tax freezes after download connection established -- can't get an answer out of them -- they just want me to pay to join some customer group instead of giving me help.
Answer: Very difficult to get, had to call numerous times to get a response and then there was no, let me help you with that. They were uncaring about my situation, I had to pursue questioning what they can do and would end up forwarding me to departments that did not respond.
