Trivago has NO phone to reach them. You are at their mercy with no recourse to change anything without shelling out money! They take 20% if you cancel within a week and they and their subsidiary travel site, Hoteling, is truly TERRIBLE and I NEVER plan to use them again. For me, a site and customer service from Hell!

Dear Saul,

We are afraid that the claims you have made are incorrect. Trivago is not involved in the booking process between the user, the online travel agent and the hotel, and therefore cannot, in any way, claim financial responsibility for the transaction process between these parties.

Trivago is a hotel search/comparison site and not a booking site. We keep no records of the transactions made through the booking sites and cannot alter or access your booking in any way. In order to make any changes, cancel, or confirm a reservation, you need to contact the booking site which you used.

Hotels distribute discounted rates to multiple booking sites which are usually under the normal BAR or sell rate which can be booked directly at the hotel. What trivago does is simply displays them all together, in one place, for users to compare and choose from.

Our main purpose is to help users find their ideal hotel. We function as a portal for hotels to advertise themselves, as well as a meta-search for booking sites to display their rates and increase the traffic to their companies. Our main goal is to help people find that particular ideal hotel to fit their needs, then they can book it however they choose. Trivago is not involved in the actual booking process.

As you cannot book on or through trivago, we do not provide phone support. Any booking issues need to be addressed with the company you made your transaction with. If you do have any issue on trivago you can find all the info you need in our 'support center' on our website - http://company.trivago.com/support/

Kind regards,
Trivago user support.

Trivago offers no way to read all the real reviews of hotels. They say they aggregate the review rankings from around the web, and they show a few positive reviews, but it is usually not possible to find any negative reviews. For a hotel that has 2,000+ reviews, they allow you to read about 10, all positive. Moreover, clearly posted on their site is an invitation to hotel owners to contact them to learn "tips and tricks" to raise their ranking on the Trivago site. Can we trust a site that openly offers hotel owners ways to game their own system? Stick with TripAdvisor, which plays no such games and allows all reviews to be read.

The worst travel site EVER. No service if you have a problem. You don't exist. From now on I will use my tried and true, Kayak.

Dear Sheree,

As a hotel search and not a booking site, trivago keeps no records of the transactions made through the booking sites and cannot alter or access your booking in any way. In order to make any changes, cancel, or confirm your current reservation, you will need to contact the booking site which you used.

On trivago, users can search and compare different hotels and prices on our site. We pull information from multiple OTAs (online travel agencies) and display the prices together. However, once a user clicks through to ‘view deal’, they are directed to the appropriate booking site which provides that price to complete reservation and payment details. Trivago doesn't actually have any involvement in the making of the booking. We do not have any of your personal or payment details.

We do provide user support. You will find that info in the 'support center' of our website - http://company.trivago.com/support/

If you are unable to resolve your booking issue with your booking site then please get in touch with our user support team directly at [email protected]. They will do their utmost to assist you with your issue with the booking site.

Kind regards,

I had booked a flight from Madison, Wi to Seattle, Wa in September. Plan was to leave Madison on Dec. 22nd and be with my daughter and grandchildren in Seattle for Christmas. I received a confirmation email from Orbitz on Sunday Dec. 20,2015, confirming the flight. So, I showed up at the airport on Dec. 22,2015, and was told I no longer had a flight. American Airlines told me that Orbitz had switched me to United. The United flight had left sometime around 8 AM and there were no more flights. United told me that Orbitz had canceled me on the flight. Subsequently, I spent about 3.5 hours on the phone with Orbitz, crouched in a bent position because there was no where to sit, trying to find a way to get to Seattle. Orbitz just continued to blame ME for my not having a flight, saying they had emailed me in October telling me my flight had been changed. Wrong. Orbitz emailed me in October telling me my flight on American had been moved from 1:30 PM to 12; 30 PM on Dec. 22nd. Nothing else. And I have all the emails to prove this. I was devastated that I couldn't get to Seattle for this long-planned-for Christmas celebration. Ultimately, I left the airport with no resolution, just blame of me, went home, and spent the next 2 days attempting to get resolution from Orbitz. Nothing. My sister then joined in attempting to get something from Orbitz. Orbitz just continued to blame me. And, then, they blamed United. Suffice it to say, there has been no resolution. Christmas with my family was ruined. I will NEVER use Orbitz again and I highly recommend no one else use Orbitz again.

Booked through them, had appt. At mayo so here for health issues and so reserved on the Sunday before. We show up the Wednesday after and they don't have any reservation for us, and the last straw there is no way of getting a hold of them. The numbers they give you they hang up on you or they say can't leave a message because the box is full. And did send complaint via message at 2 pm Midwest and get a response that customers service is closed. WORST I am with an ILL child! So getting charged twice! Will fight it! Never use this site!

We're talking about Forbes Island on pier 39 in the fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco. The whole experience was magnificent. First, you take a short ferry ride to the restaurant. From the moment you arrive you are treated like royalty. The food was exquisite. It was a four course meal each course was fantastic and the service was phenomenal and her name was Katya. All told a beautiful Birthday experience for my wife.

False advertising
December 2, 2015

Dear Tanya,

Thank you for getting in touch.

Wea re very surprised to hear that you are having this issue with your hotel search.

Please bear in mind that trivago's American and Canadian platforms show prices per room per night before taxes and fees are included. This may be the explanation for the price difference. We have run several tests, and this proves to be the most recognized and common way for both retail and online products to be displayed within North America. Therefore, we try to remain as localized as possible for our different users.
The majority of our European platforms display prices already including taxes and fees, as this is the norm in these countries.

If you have further inquiries please get in touch with us directly at [email protected]

So a few moments back I just booked a hotel for 3 nights with trivago which reads as St. Mark's but after the booking when I got a mail from travelguru (the site where I was taken to for booking by trivago), I realized that they had booked St. Mark's Inn which is a way cheaper hotel and no wonder why did I get this deal. I am cancelling the booking now and this is not how fool the customers. If you have St. Mark's INN registered with you, you better mention that and not dupe customers for it to be St. Mark's. Really shameful and disappointing

Booked hotel in Paris, needed 3 rooms. Site doubled price for 2nd & 3rd room & you don't know that until they have your credit card info.
Called customer service after being on hole for over an hour, basically was told to bad, no cancellation, no refund.

I followed up with hotel and for severl weeks after I made the reservation the hotel had not been contacted by Trivago to hold the rooms.
Got to hotel & cheaper room included breakfast other 2 rooms did not. Hotel made it right & included breakfast.
Will never use Trivago again!

Dear Dianne,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and for using trivago as your hotel search.

However, please bear in mind that you cannot make a booking on or through our site as trivago is a hotel search and not a booking site.

On trivago, users can search and compare different hotels and prices on our site. We pull information from multiple OTAs (online travel agencies) and display the prices together. I was booking a room for the first time with trivago. I need a room for that evening. I figured I would try this company for the first time. I found the site very hard to navigate through. I called the sales representative on the phone and I told them of my situation. I thought my booking was complete and I completed the transaction. With a rep on the phone from trivago I explained that I never choose a date. Then I noticed that it was 1 week from the date I was actually trying to book. I immediately told the agent that I was currently on the phone with. The agent said sorry but NO refunds. I told the agent who I was on the phone with during the entire transaction of what just happened, but refused to change the date and no refunds. Bottom line I hung up the phone and called Expedia and got my room. Also I am thankful to have Amex because they gave me my money back as a courtesy, because trivago would not. Not even give me a credit for a future stay. I would never use them again and there prices were high on rooms then other sites. All around bad experience with them. I will share my story with any other company rating sites. This was not customer service that I would exspect from any company.

Https :// www.contacthelp. Com/Trivago/phone-number/Customer%20Service *******439. I had to update my review due to "insulting my intelligence". There clearly is a phone number located to contact customer service. That's the number I called to help me through my process. The person I spoke on the phone clearly saw my order and we were communicating back-and-forth. Even then I had a bad result. You use and you lose.

Dear George,

We are afraid that you must be mistaken as trivago does not provide user phone support so you could not have spoken to a trivago 'rep' on the phone. We can only assume that it was the rep of a booking site you used that you spoke to.

Please note, on trivago, users can easily search and compare different hotels and prices on our site. We pull information from multiple OTAs (online travel agencies) and display the prices together. However, once a user clicks through to ‘view deal’, they are directed to the appropriate booking site which provides that price to complete reservation and payment details. Trivago doesn't actually have any involvement in the making of the booking.

Connecting from Mexico, it is impossible to access the Trivago site in English. Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb!

Dear Lesya,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are very sorry to hear that you are having this difficulty. However, we feel the ''Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb!'' is a tad harsh and hurts our feelings!

The reason you are experiencing this issue is because your IP address is in Mexico so our site defaults to trivago.com.mx. We are currently working on a fix for this so that you can use trivago.com within Mexico.

In the mean time you could use trivago.ca and change the currency to US$ at the bottom of the main page. trivago.com and trivago.ca have the same inventory so you will see the same deals.

I hope this helps and that you will give it a try. It is probably a quicker solution for you rather than learning Spanish.

If you do need further assistance please get in touch with us directly at [email protected] our native English user support speakers will be more than happy to assist you.

Warmest regards,

Dear Ashley,

I am very sorry to hear that you are experiencing difficulties with your hotel search. Since there is always only a certain contingent of offers, what often happens is that the best deals can be out of stock quite quickly. This may not always be updated by the booking site in real time. Please note that we only display prices as given to us by the booking sites.

We apologize for any inconveniences caused and hope that this will not deter you from using trivago in the future. What you can and should expect from trivago is that we will always strive for maximum transparency.

To help you find your ideal hotel for the best price, we are continuously updating the thousands of prices the 250+ booking sites are offering for over 900,000 hotels. As much as we would like to guarantee 100% price consistency at all times, this is unfortunately an impossible feat.

Please let us know if you require any further assistance by getting in touch with our user support team at [email protected]

I like ur site, its really helpful. We had been to Rajasthan in Dec 2014 & I'd done all hotel bookings through your site - Trivago.com. All the hotels were good and it was a perfect trip. After that I've always used ur website for all my hotel bookings. So when we went to Kasauli in October 2015 I again checked your website and did bookings for a hotel called Kasauli Castle. However, I was redirected to the booking site of Kasauli Inn- I thought perhaps they had changed their name and did not recheck. Imagine I checked the reviews, pictures everything for Kasauli Castle and instead got a rude shock when the hotel turned out to be Kasauli Inn. Kasauli Inn was horrible and we had a really bad experience there, the staff there dint help us at all. It was quite a nightmare, but, had ur site not redirected me to their lowest grade hotel, I could have done my bookings at a better hotel. You should check and verify which hotel is actually getting booked and what is your site showing outside. We were thoroughly dejected.

I stay in Bangalore and wanted to book a hotel for Coorg. So went to Trivago site. Checked a hotel called Manu Residency in Coorg and then when I wanted to book the Hotel it guided me to Travelguru site and once I made payment I was shocked to see the hotel is in Bangalore only and there is no such hotel in Coorg and my entire paid amount is gone as Travelguru Customer support says its nonrefundable. This kind of pathetic service is never expected from these sites. Even I have the screen shot of the technical mistake as well. I uploaded it. The hotel address which shown Coorg doesn't have any branch in coorg.
I will post my review and complaint in every possible site to make people aware of these frauds.

Booked a hotel through trivago, took me to hoteling.com. Room was booked, however the dates were wrong. Sent E-mails to hoteling and nothing back, cancelled room, ( $50.00) charge subtracted from the price i paid $122.00. Now, I still have not gotten a refund and still no reponse. If you have a site, you should vet the companies that you are driving your customers to. I know that trivago will plead ignorance as they are a "hotel search engine". Thank you for nothing! BTW, went to priceline and got a better deal on a better room. I will stick with them from now on.

Please note, no bookings can be made on or through trivago. You made your booking with Hoteling.com. Yes, you are correct, trivago is a hotel search/price comparison site. Trivago is not involved in the booking process between the user, the online travel agent and the hotel, and therefore cannot, in any way, claim financial responsibility for the transaction process between these parties.

Nevertheless, before displaying rates from a booking site on trivago, a background check on the company is always conducted to ensure that their customers have the opportunity find the deals offered on their website. Dear Kate,

As a hotel search and not a booking site, trivago is not involved in the booking process between the user, the online travel agent and the hotel, and therefore cannot, in any way, claim financial responsibility for the transaction process between these parties.

No site listed on trivago is a 'scam', all of the booking sites are professional and reputable companies.
