I have invested a considerable amount of time honoring places where I received superb service, to no avail: my positive reviews were never published by tripadvisor.
I really wanted to share my experience with other travelers that supposedly use this site as a reference, but none of my heartfelt, first-hand postings were published.
Nevertheless, two of my reviews with lower ratings were immediately published with no need of confirmation (tripadvisor will usually send you an email to make sure it was you who wrote a review they are about to publish but yet don't actually do)
These establishments are obliged to be advertised and exposed, whether or not they care about tripadvisor, but they have no protection and no word unless they are paying customers of the site's varied menu of social media services.
After a year of "using" tripadvisor I think it is more a scam than it is a reliable source of information for travelers.
I receive at least 3 unwanted emails from their partner sites with non-relevant information, pure propaganda, useless at best for the average traveler
In my opinion they should show more respect and really funnel those negative reviews which are more damaging than they could ever think, and truly appreciate the good reviewers like me who are real and honest.
Although, I do not see myself writing any more reviews in tripadvisor in the near future.
I use Tripadvisor for my travel information and things to see
Great service, I always read opinions before choosing an hotel or a restaurant!
Have written for trip advisor for many years now and I'm a senior contributer. Have always been honest and candid about my reviews and hopefully other contributers do the same. Unfortunately there is mostly mixed reviews so it's difficult to determine your importance regarding a holiday/hotel. Some people want their bed's changed and fresh towels everyday!, do we do this at home? I don't think so.go with your gut feeling and feel free to contact advisors hopefully they'll be truthful and honest. Look out for me under supamac and I'll guarantee an honest review
I am a senior reviewer with Trip Advisor and have used their reviews. I find them thorough and helpful.
Pretty much any travel related business has reviews on Travel Advisor. And since there are so many reviews per business, it's the go to place to find reviews and suggestions. Also, if a business closes, TA will let you know. TA also gives you tips on itineraries and such which makes travel planning less daunting.
They give me great ideas on where to go next! I also think their rates are competitive. I plan to use them at some point.
Love they way the keep me advised of prices of trips I want to take
Very friendly website, nice reviews and photos of places worth to see. Also useful when booking travel.
A month before i was willing to spend my Christmas on a fabulous place which should be memorable always, Contacted with TripAdvisor and received more than i ever thought. I just want to wish you guys a very good luck and thanks.
I travelled with a girlfriend of mine for 9 days in Morocco, starting in Essaouira and ending in Tangier. While we wanted to mainly backpack on our own through the Country, we were very happy to have made the decision book a 3-day tour with Morocco Excursions in the middle of it.
Having made a lot of research, I found that Morocco vacation tour were the most receptive to my emails. They required a 100Euro deposit through Western Union (Most companies in Morocco don't accept credit cards) and the transfer went without problem.
Rashid (our driver) picked us up promptly at 8am in Marrakesh and made all the stops promised (and more) along the way. Because he is at our full disposition, we were able to ask him to make specific stops (such as stopping in non-touristy super market to stock up on drinks, or stopping for a special picture, etc). Rashid was very friendly, kind and knowledgeable. He answered all our questions and talked about his life, his childhood as well as Moroccan culture and history in general.
And took us in the desert. The camels were wonderful and the desert guides were very nice. We sand-surfed, had tea, dinner and they even played music for us. We proceeded to sleep under the stars in the middle of the desert (the tents were there, but the weather was nice and fresh, so we slept outside). We woke up before the sunrise and walked up the biggest dune to see the sunrise before returning to our hotel to get our bags and take a shower.
All the meals included were great; and the ones that weren't included (lunches), we could ask our driver to stop somewhere else, if we didn't like what they had.
Rachid is an excellent, careful, good driver with lots of charisma. We did Essaouira, Marrkesh, Fes and Tagier on our own but saw so much more and learnt so much more than we could have seen those 3 days in the desert. It includes A LOT of driving but it is absolutely worth every penny and the car is new and comfortable. I would recommend this tour to anyone. Feel free to ask me questions, if you want.
Very much enjoy writing reviews and tend to use their reviews a lot when travelling. You have to read carefully as some (positive and negative) are fake, but it is still extemely helpful and easy to use.
Restaurant.com is not worth joining. See my review on Site-jabber.
I have had a fair experience with TripAdavisor, till two weeks ago. I found a economical airline ticket of about $145 each flying within Peru through an online travel agency called "OneTravel.com" under TripAdvisor. OneTravel is almost a scam. First, after the booking, they let you choose a seat and I did my selection, but no response! Next morning, an e-mail sent to me saying they are willing to refund me $23 because they can't give me a seat? I never knew there was an extra charge of $23 for seat selection in the first place. I then did see a charge of $23 and a credit of $23 in my credit account. But they refused to refund me the ticket price of $145 even they can't find a seat for me. I don't want to travel in S. America without a set confirmation. So I called my credit card company for a dispute.
TripAdvisor, please take my advice; remove OneTravel from you site; it is ruining your reputation.
One of the best sites on the Internet. I plan a lot of my travel looking at this site and it has saved me multiple times from ending up at bad locations, restaurants and events. Definitely reliable and one of the best services on the internet.
I do NOT trust TripAdvisor reviews anymore. This used to be my go-to site for researching hotels, activities, restaurants, etc. However, I posted an "average" review for a business (there were areas for improvement, which I mentioned in the review, but it was by no means a bad experience, so I believe I gave a 4/5) and the business disputed the review. They claimed that I was a 3rd party posting the review and that I had not been a customer.
I disputed this claim with TripAdvisor, telling them to read my review. It was written in a first person and I had very much been a customer. TripAdvisor kept replying to my emails simply quoting that they do not accept third party reviews (which mine was not). I rewrote the review but they removed it again. Eventually, I gave up.
I later noticed that this vendor soon had all 5/5 reviews and was listed as the #1 attraction in the town where it was located. I feel confident that he reached this status by disputing any review that was not a 5/5 (because mine wasn't even a bad review!) and TripAdvisor allowed him to do so. That conduct is dishonest on the business owner's part, as well as on TripAdvisor's part for allowing such fraudulent advertising to occur.
I do not trust TripAdvisor at all anymore. What a shame.
I'm a senior contributor on TripAdvisor and I NEVER book a hotel without checking them first. The reviews are from real people and you get the real down and dirty!
This site is the number 1 site for travelers. I love to travel and whenever I go to another place-- I check for hotels, resorts, or other accommodations on the site first. I read about the comments of fellow travelers as well.
Where would I be without this site?! Tons of times I have had a look at hotels, restaurants and thought, that looks like a good place to go, or that doesn't look too appealing and thanks to trip advisor, it has totally flipped my opinion and I've learnt t think twice before judging a place based on appearance. There are tons of customer reviews from people that have visited these places, so you get a great insight into the place before you actually go. Too many times have I gone to like a restaurant without looking into it first beforehand and being extremely disappointed. And now I'm going to places that I would have never thought to go to before but I've come back a very happy customer!
I experience like we have frequented some really great discovers in places we check out because of this web page. I always consist of tripadvisor in preparing my a business trip and holidays. T's a website where the visitor gives their sincere viewpoint about a given location, finish with images. Rather than looking at an ad organizations photography of a resort, you see the genuine thing.
Answer: Ya, its very easy, you can find your hotel and write as you want. What's your experience with this hotel.
Answer: Its hard to find it. I think you must need to find the correct name of your company or place. Then you can easily find any review
Answer: I don't have a chance about this. I think real reviews with good details published immediately.
