I called their *******183 customer service line and talked to FIVE different people and explained to them: #1 I don't have the 4-digit pin they kept asking for verification.
#2 I buy my minutes cards with CASH in a store so I can't use the last 4 digits from a credit card used to purchase tracfone service.
And #3 I told them at least a dozen times, I can't read the verification code they kept texting to my OLD tracfone with the broken screen which I told them over & over, Can't be Read! But those F-ing idiots kept sending it to that phone!
And last, #4 The first thing tomorrow morning I'll be returning my new tracfone to the store for a full Refund, I'll be buying a new cell phone from one of Tracfones competitors. Hopefully a competitor that has Customer Service that can Speak and Understand English and has at least half a Brain!
And I will never spend another cent on Tracfone or their new parent company, Verizon.
First thing Monday morning I'll also be placing a complaint with Tracfones' corporate headquarters, either by email, phone or both-about their abysmal customer service department.
I've been with them for years and recently i had to get a new phone. After the upgrade I lost my data connection. The phone would show 4 to 5 bars but data mode showed disconnected. Customer service chat just gave me the runaround. Kept doing the same thing over and over. Don't sign up with these people. Service is poor and customer service is horrible.
Tracfone SUCKS, they lie, incompetent, thieves. They stole over 3'ooo min. & days of service because they failed to activate my new phone that they provided.there isn't enough bad thing to say about them!
Where do I even begin? First, simply trying to use one of their phones for another network is impossible - I had an old Motorola G phone that I thought I could use to get on with a new carrier. After a day of not seeing the SIM card work on the phone (originally picked up said phone as a backup in case of emergencies), I called them and found that you would need to use the phone for at least 60 more days before it's unlocked. They simply don't advertise this at all and it turns out they have the policy buried on their corporate website online but it is poorly explained.
Second, if you're trying to port over a number, good luck. Again, there they don't explain that if you're doing that at any point after they assign you a number, it voids out any service you paid for and you are stuck waiting for days for it to load up, and only if you pay for another plan. If you're trying to transfer out your number, the pin generator on their site doesn't send out any texts with the pin as requested, and when you try texting their customer service with "NTP", it locks you out for 24 hours - and they literally will either tell you they can generate a new pin and then promptly drop the call or say they can't generate a pin on their end.
Third, the service coverage is terrible. The signal drops a lot and their data is spotty at best. Their plans are very inconsistent, too, and can get pricey as well, especially if you're a person whose work involves constant access to data. They simply are not competitive at all and every plan is designed to bilk you.
Lastly, and this is directed more towards their management team, but their customer support people have significant language barriers that make it difficult to relay customer concerns to them, and a lot of them come across as rude and unprofessional. This seems to stem directly from Tracfone's own corporate culture, which if Indeed and Glassdoor are any indicator is horrible.
Bottom line is Tracfone is about maximizing their bottom line at the expense of customers. Avoid this company if you can at all. It's a horrible experience.
The phone lasted about 9 months. The company gave me the run around for over two months about returning the old phone and then they'd send a new phone. It NEVER CAME. They kept saying it'll be there in 3-5 business days. I finally stopped calling and switched to a different company.
The worst customer care ever. Don't care about the customer's what so ever. Will be switching carriers after today!
I purchased an Android Tracfone this July 2022 and transferred my number from my flip phone to it. The new Trac phone was so hard to use (small print) and touchy keyboard). I then had my number transferred back to the Trac flip phone and reset the Android phone to factory settings. In September I decided to give the Android another try with a new service card ($40) and when trying to activate it I found out it was froze. I was told by a Tracfone Tech that since it was froze, they would send me a new Android with the service activated within 5 business days and info on how to send the old Android back. After calling them for over a month with the tracking number I was told to send my old Android in before they would mail me a new one. I'm still waiting on the new one with info and packaging to send the old one back. I'm so fed up with Tracfone and the bad customer service.
First, the coverage is abysmal. Dropped calls every day, whether at home or out. Literally no internet service for over two weeks on vacation. I specifically chose Tracfone for their supposed coverage based on the map that included our vacation destination. No luck getting any refunds for terrible cell/internet service. Also, for this "low cost service", I was charged over $40 for a SIM card for the privilege of keeping my own phone and phone number and switching from Verizon to Tracfone. In total for the one month that I used this horrible "discount" service, I ended up being charged $95…had i just stayed with Verizon, at least I'd have had coverage, service and my hotspot when I really needed it. Tracfone charges a premium for using your own phone as a hotspot; it's just a total nickel and dime operation. I'm switching to Mint Mobile and hope to have a better experience there.
When I refused to upgrade my still working phone to TracFone's newer phone, TracFone cut off my service and refused to refund me the unused data plane. A very mean company! Be Aware!
I recently went through that migration from AT&T to Verizon as Verizon bought Tracfone. I was told that getting the new migration SIM would be literally just swapping new with old and voila! It wasn't voila!, it was no service. Even after doing what was just sending a text to ******* or what ever. That was a service call nightmare. That took several hours- pretty much all day for them to get me working again. Luckily I'm retired and have the time for this. One feature that I used occasionally was the hotspot feature. It worked very well under AT&T. After the painless migration of having several days of NO service, the Hotspot went from working a few days to "setup up personal hotspot". This time I called and must have been passed along to at least 7 different reps of varying skill levels, not including having my call dropped twice and having to start all over again. Press this and press that number… I had two reps saying that the feature was no longer available now. Some did not know how to fix it and some said that it only worked on iPhone (which is what I have), managed to get it working eventually. They got it working flawlessly and a week later it went back to "setup up personal hotspot" again. I would rather enjoy a root canal than spend my day trying get them to try and fix it again. I've had tracfone for years but hey REALLY their support is simply worse than awful. If your service is working fine, I can say that the coverage isn't too bad otherwise.
Horrible, since separation from straight talk has gone down hill, wasted my time on repeated customer service attempts to try to connect phone to their own network and refusing to honor their 30day money back guarantee that was asked for on day 3 with still no service, customer service overseas and follows the same trouble shooting script that didnt work each time and forwarded to acct specialist,,, lol, the customer service guy online chats with the specialist while you wait on hold, every time had to do this as they said they had not tried that yet,,,,,, WHAT A JOKE
I hate Tracfone. My teen daughter has a phone with Tracfone and we've had several issues leading up to moving her service to another provider. They claim she sent 2000 texts and used 2 GB of data in 2 days. I looked at her call/text log and nope, there's certainly not 2000 texts. When I called them and asked for a log of usage, they claim they "don't have access to that". How can they claim that's what they show she used but they can't provide it to me? A few more difficulties later, I decided to add her to my family plan with Verizon. I requested the transfer ID pin through their website... crickets. Then I tried calling and they told me to text ntp to *******, their text help line. I got a text back that the maximum number of ntp's were issued for this account and I have to wait 24 hours. I guess they hope we'll give up and stay with them? I called back and asked the rep to give me *one* of the supposed multiple ntp's they issued me. She said "sorry, we don't have access to that". What a crock - pathetic company. I'll wait my 24 hours and happily leave Tracfone. These companies don't seem to care... many more fish in the sea. They don't realize that when they burn people, they don't forget. I'd do without a cell phone before I had Tracfone again.
I had my phone hacked on Saturday lost my number. I contacted tracfone they transferred it back to me. But the minutes still gone after 4 calls a supervisor could see that I had missing minutes. They credited me 8000 saying that is all they could transfer in 24 hrs. They said will call back next day and credit more. They never called. I called them a few days later and the tech person kept saying they can't send me to a supervisor I called back they said the same thing this company is a terrible company as they have no way to track or see anything in your account. Not happy with this company.
While visiting the US, we bought a Tracfone Sim Card to use in our phone... we paid the one year price to have a permeant number in the US so all future trips would include phone service locally. I purchased the card in Boise, ID, Traveled to St Louis to visit family and the phone stopped working without Wifi... I called into Customer Service and was informed that the reason for this issue is that Tracfone has no service coverage in St Louis! WTF! I was told they have coast to coast coverage! She offered to troubleshoot the issue for me, But if I have no service then I'm just wasting my time. What a F****G Joke. This is a scam phone service. Run. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. Just RUN.

Spent 10HOURS trying to transfer my #to a new phone with ESIM not one of the 12+ people I dealt with could accomplish this kept telling me I could only do it on the app which I tried 52TIMES with error saying to contact customer service even their so called specialists are worthless and they are all liars. They also need interpreters. Well I cancelled my service altogether they are hands down the most incompetent employees around.DO NOT USE TRACFONE
We bought a Tracfone and signed up for auto-refill. After the second month of service, the phone will no longer send or receive calls. Really? A phone that can't take calls?! Garbage, and a complete waste of money!
My phone is no longer supported by their system so they offered me a free phone. After spending countless hours on the phone (my landline) in Canada with various reps, repeating the problem over each time, the verification code to prove I was legitimate cannot be sent to Canada. All this for a $50 phone. Don't bother wasting your time!
Tracfone is cheating you out of your data. They are not carrying data over. I purchased an 8 GB data card that is to carryover and it hasn't for the past 3 months. DON'T BUY AN 8 GB CARD FROM THEM! I've called them about this before and of course they deny it, but I just caught them not rolling it over!
They are the worst. Run very fast away from them. Worst customer service. Worst service period. Don't try to change to another phone company and try to take your number they won't let you.
Answer: Tracfone uses only the most feral and unskilled labor available in the Philippines for their customer service centers. I've encountered hundreds of these creatures and found only two helpful people. The rest just seem to be thinking about bananas all day English skills and intelligence are hard to find at Tracfone's customer care center, but the script reading skills (in broken English) are among the best in Asia.
Answer: Tracfone hires only the most feral and ignorant Filipinos to work their customer care center. I've been on the phone for dozens and dozens of hours with these mindless drones and have only found one or two people (out of hundreds) that were actually helpful. The ability to speak English clearly or have a glimmer of intelligence are NOT prerequisites for employment at Tracfone.
Answer: Yes, go to tracfone.com (or their app) and look for Add-ons under Buy Air Time. It is currently $5 for 1,000 texts. Great price! I just ordered one year of service for $49 and the1,000 texts for $5. Cant beat it.
