I was a freelance 1,5 years before starting with Toptal and it wasn't really good. I wanted to be able to choose who to help and where to work. I wanted to live my life on my terms, being truly to myself.

But the projects I had were a lot of work and not enough money. Also, living in a place, with a language I still don't control, it didn't make my idea of living easy. I was actually looking for a new job.

Toptal has given me that door. It has given me the possibility to help companies (I have worked with 2 so far) that are aligned to my values; to work with a client that knows how important your work and your time is, no matter where you are or where you come from. Without all nightmares related to the payments.

So thanks to Toptal to give the opportunity.

I love that Toptal allowed me to find Clients all over the world. Being in Japan, I tend to be quite isolated, and Toptal helped me to extend my reach to the other APAC countries, as well as the USA and Europe. It's great to have access to a great range of serious clients from various industries, working on projects of every scale, and of course, being able to meet people from other cultures all the time. It's very enriching for a freelancer!

No word of a lie or exaggeration, I owe Toptal credit for my career's success. Prior to joining I was working a typical corporate 9-5 life, commuting over 10 hours a week and not growing. After joining the network, I quit my job and haven't looked back since. 6 years, 29 unique international clients, 30+ countries of travel, and not one missed payment later, my life has been transformed for the better. Toptal allows you to be the author of your own story. If you're skilled enough, I would hesitation recommend joining the network!

Joining Toptal definitely was a changing point in my career as a software developer. Freelancing had always caught an eye on me, but felt there were too many risks. What if I don't get paid? What if I can't get any jobs? And if I dislike my current job? Well, Toptal's got you covered an all those. Its wonderful staff is always there to listen to you and try to solve any issues you may have. Jobs are all around the place with many challenging and interesting projects for small and big companies all around the world. Definitely, a freelancer's dream.

At Toptal, the community of fellow developers is one of my most valuable resources for peer reviews and discussion. I'm able to focus on my deepest area of expertise, because I know I can count on Toptal designers, project managers, and other professionals to provide me with the best possible support in other areas of my projects. I also enjoy the simplicity and security of being paired with great clients, without having to run my own small business.

Usually working remotely doesn't compare to working in person... you don't have a coffee break with friends, you don't have a colleague to comment on yesterday's soccer game, you don't get to arrange a barbecue with co-workers - after all, they are spread all over the world. And you also don't have someone looking after your career or watching over your work, which will hopelessly lead you down a bad path.

In other words, YOU-ARE-ALONE.

We have coaching - an exceptional team dedicated to making you better than you already are.

We have academies - the chance for you to increase your knowledge.

Of course, it's not the same as in-person work... IT'S MUCH BETTER!
