I was excited to use Top Resume, with their guarantee and promise of personal interaction with a resume writer. After paying (including a cover letter and LinkedIn profile upgrade, I found out that only 1 week is given to interact with my writer. In that time I had to send my resume and examples of 3 jobs I wanted to get. Responses took about a day, so there was really only 3 back and forths before my final resume was sent to me. I send out my new resume & cover letter, customized for each job, multiple times a week, with no responses- not even for the exact jobs of which I sent them job postings. The "guarantee of an interview within 60 days" isn't really that. It's an offer to redo the resume. So I took them up on this.
The 2nd round writer was disinterested at best. The resume that was sent to me looked like something I created early in my career. It wasn't compelling and didn't convey my experience or qualifications well. When I mentioned I didn't like the format, they suggested I tell them what I wanted. Having no idea what templates they have, I asked for suggestions. They came back with a revised resume, that was identical to the first version, but with a paragraph removed. After I made more suggestions, they finally came back with a version that used a new template, but the information was still lacking. This came on the eve of my last day to make changes. The responses through from this writer were glib and kept offering me services I could pay for to possible get what I wanted- $ to talk on the phone with them or $ to extend the review time.
Also, when I got the first resume from this writer, I reached out to TopResume asking for a new person. They wouldn't help me, wanted me to give them a chance- which would run my time down. I reached out to the 3 more time and got no help from anyone about my unhappiness with the results I was getting.
At the end of the day, I would not recommend. The resumes don't get interviews- even when you give them the exact wording from the job posting. And if you are unhappy or need help, they don't step in to make it right.
