It is such a waste of time and money. They take your money try to had you over some crap resume with the take it or leave it attitude.

They provided me with a free critique of my resume, which I thought was fair, so I wanted to try a professional written resume.

I paid $189 for the resume service and interview guarantee in December 2015. Its been over 45 days and still don't have a final resume in my hand. Forget about the interview there is no guarantee you will get even the resume.

By the first draft I knew they are not good, but had already paid, so I tried to be nice and make the most of it. Just lowering my standards and trying to atleast get what they have to offer.

Plus all communication is on email only, phone would have speeded things, but sadly that was not an option. Imagine having to type all that you did not like about the resume, mistakes etc, If I knew before that I had to spend all that time I would have chosen to write resume by myself.

They claim they can be industry specific, but for any IT jobs they are no good.
Its just more fancy flowery language and who even cares about that in IT? I'm not applying to be a magazine or blog writer. A lot of it was so overblown I wasn't even comfortable claiming to be that kind of employee.

There is no way you can choose your resume template from a bunch on their website. You have to tell them I don't like this, send me something like... and then they send you something else... and so it goes.

I will stop my rant. But please don't BUY frustration for yourself. Try somewhere else or just take the free advice and DIY.

1. I paid for an expedited service. I received the "first draft" within the expected time frame, but, from a quality perspective, it was absolutely terrible. I'm a CFO with years of financial and management experience, and yet the first skill listed was a generic "excellent communication skills".
2. From that point forward, the process was exceptionally slow. Subsequent drafts took days to arrive, and my emails went unanswered.
3. The quality was absolutely wretched. The entire resume was built on buzz-words and fluff. The result was meaningless, and more likely to lose jobs than gain them. They are using template terms and phrases, and applying them universally, rather than tailoring something appropriate to the individual's experience and strengths.
4. Although I paid for a service to update my LinkedIn profile, it was never done. And, frankly, thank goodness. I threw their resume in the trash - I certainly don't want this company influencing my online brand as well.

Additionally, keep in mind that they promise to work with you on multiple revisions until you are satisfied. However, you only have 7 days from the first draft to request changes, and I assure you, they'll take 6 days to make the adjustments, so you won't have another opportunity.

I found this service after applying for a job where a rep contacting me telling me that my resume looked poor. I wasn't having trouble getting interviews before but I wanted some advice, I mean why not? It took a week for them to send the first draft and another client's name and contact information was on top of my resume (my correct contact was on my initial resume and I had to enter it when submitting on the TopResume site), one of my past company's name was spelled wrong (was not wrong on my original resume) and I felt it was extremely repetitive and hard to read, as if the editor had a thesaurus in hand and was just substituting my verbiage for longer words, the resume was also two pages and I only have a little over two years of work experience so the second page was very unnecessary.
Pros: The new format was nice and I liked some of the tips but I am far from recommending this to others. I am still waiting for my first draft back and its been 8 days at this point and I have not received any update. I have already made the necessary edits and have been applying for jobs as I cannot wait for this service to respond.

I had some luck with my resume, but I tried their service to see if I was missing anything. Paid for the "Executive" service where a writer from their "top 10%" was suppose to assist, but after providing all the information I could, several job descriptions I wanted to target, plus a pre-existing resume, all I got was a reformatted resume with a canned paragraph on top. I followed up with a question to see if there was something I should include that I was not currently highlighting in my resume, and all I got was an e-mail 6 days later (past the allowed time for me to get a rewrite) that said it was too much to look at and it would take him too long. If you have any experience just avoid this company - if you need real help, find a professional that specializes in this, not a resume generating machine...

P.S. - I forgot to mention the spelling errors that also accompanied

Added 2/27: I contacted their customer service as requested, and I was told on the 10th that "Someone will be contacting you shortly". On the 23nd with no contact I asked what was meant by shortly, and I quickly got a response that included a new writer. I will update this review after working with the second writer.

Added 3/11: Finally completed the process with the new writer. At best I would say luke-warm results. This company uses highly canned products and it shows on the end products. It is a good start if you have nothing, but expect to do a lot of personal tailoring afterwards, and expect to spend a lot of time trying to get a response if you have any questions. LinkedIn review was pointless and had no value added. I am beginning to wonder if the other reviews on this site are genuine.

Nika did a great job on my resume and cover letter. I filled out a questionnaire right after signing up, and she responded in less than 12 hours with the first draft. I only had to make a couple simple revisions. It's more clear, and organized, and highlights my accomplishments and abilities at each job. She was always professional and prompt. I was able to give her insight as to what I wanted my resume to achieve and she listened. The cover letter is easily adaptable. Thank you Nika and TopResume!
