I had a terrible experience with TopResume. The quality of resume that I received was far below my current resume, and did not meet my expectations. I requested a refund after I received the first draft, and it was denied. I was reassigned another "resume expert" after that, and although his recommendations were better, the quality and the formatting of the resume was still underwhelming at best. I spent 2-3 hours rewriting and commenting on the first draft so that the new resume expert would take that into consideration, but he essentially ignored everything I had commented on, and did not give me a reason as to why. To call the final version of my resume "sub-par" would be an overstatement. I am usually not the type to write bad reviews and complain about a service, but I have also not had such a bad experience as this with any company or service in the past. I have a vast network of young professional friends working in Fortune 500 companies, and I will do my best to let them know about my experience with this service, so they can avoid the waste of time and money. I genuinely believe that this service might be good/helpful for people who have never had a resume in their lives, but for someone who already has a good resume and is looking to make it even better, this service is useless.

As an FYI, I paid $130 to get my resume rewritten. Just as a background, I graduated from Penn State University and had a good enough resume to get a job at IBM while still in school, so I was simply looking to make my resume better as I was targeting a better job. Perhaps my expectations were too high.

The product I got back looked like the generic resume generated by indeed or glassdoor. You have to give them a resume to begin with, in my case they took what was a creative and impressive overview of my qualifications and instead of enhancing it, gave me a generic product that was more fitting of my 17yr old sons background. If you are looking for a product like theirs just use the resume builder on indeed and save yourself HUNDREDS of dollars. NEVER AGAIN!

The writers don't read the initial survey or feedback you send in. They just copy and paste a lot of irrelevant buzz words to meet the deadline. There's no formatting whatsoever. I gave TopResume a try because glassdoor recommended it. TRUST ALL THESE NEGATIVE REVIEWS.

If I could, I would give TopResume a 0 rating. My husband purchased their executive package and was expecting a top of the line resume. After receiving the first draft, not impressed is an understatement. He provided feedback to the writer regarding what he was looking for, even sent my resume as an example, and all she returned as a reformatted version of the original draft. Not confident that another revision would be any better, he contacted TopResume with his concerns and requested a refund. TopResume replied saying they do not offer a refund, but that they would assign a new writer, my husband declined. TopResume also states that they will do multiple revisions until he is satisfied, however in an email he received, it was stated that only two revisions would be provided. My husband has disputed this through his credit card company and will also contact an attorney if TopResume refuses to provide a refund for a service that was not rendered as advertised, which is FALSE ADVERTISING! CONSUMERS BEWARE!

Worst resume I have ever seen literally, terrible format, missed key information. Charged me $250 for something literally a 2nd grader could have done in 10 minutes, if that 2nd grader failed to listen to instructions. They also missed their deadline. Save your money they did absolutely nothing I or anyone could have done. Would not refund even when not done by the deadline

I went in with a decent resume that was getting me a fair amount of responses, but I thought that using a professional service could help step my game up since I had 1) just returned from taking a year off, 2) had changed careers 3) had been using the same format for about 10 years. The writer was very friendly and responsive, but I'm not sure they had any specific experience writing resumes for my field. The product ended up very keyword heavy and wasn't really my voice, but, like I said, I thought I needed a new voice to get the positions I was going after. 3 months later I can honestly say that my old resume was doing better by a lot. The time frame to work with someone is very small, and I think that was one of the biggest issues. You get a draft back, you have a day or two to review it, you get a draft back, a few more days, final draft. 10 day total process, so it's impossible to test whether or not it's a good product until you're completely out of the process. They even send you satisfaction surveys right after the process is complete, not even giving you a time to have your resume out in public for a week. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this service to anyone.

I got a critique of my resume from Top Resume (on Monster.com) and the critique was very, very helpful! While my resume looked great, the content needed to be updated. Everything that was explained to me really made sense.

*** One important thing was that I was explained is that many employers use Applicant Tracking Software and that my sales experience scored a 96% and my management experience scored 55/100 and that I would "benefit greatly from the skilled attention of a professional resume writer." I wanted to get out of the 55% range since most of my experience was in sales management.

"Sara" re-did my resume and she really did a good job. I had trouble putting one of my job descriptions into a single, succinct sentence. Sara did it quickly and concisely - it was very cleverly worded and I was impressed.

However, once my resume was done, I asked Sara to run my resume through Applicant Tracking Software again. My sales experience dropped to 76% and my management score was still 55/100.

I would have given 5 stars if my sales experience still scored a 96% and if my management score had moved up to the 90%+ range.

Overall, I feel that I have a better resume than I had before.

One other thing is that Top Resume alleges "Our resumes generate 2 to 3 times more interviews." I have not seen an increase in interviews. In fact, before I went through the resume re-vamping process, I interviewed and secured a new job that I am going to love. However, I submitted my original resume that I had created myself.

I would recommend Top Resume to anyone needing help writing a concise resume which emphasizes their accomplishments. However, I can't be sure that I will improve the number of interviews or scores in Applicant Tracking Software.

I'm back in the job market now after having been out of it since 1997, so I had NO clue how to present my skill sets, knowledge, experience and strengths in terms that would speak to a recruiter in 2017. I was struggling to find jobs that were an appropriate match, ones that appealed to me and that wanted and needed what I can bring to the table. My TopResume writer, Isaac, recast my sadly outdated resume style to where I am getting a lot more appropriate hits and am a LOT closer to finding the perfect job for me. Thank you, TopResume!

As the reply from Jenna of top resume states that this matter is resolved by their customer service... BEWARE that this is NOT resolved. They have not contacted me for a FULL REFUND as I believe they can at least do... READERS: as you can see they promise something and never fulfill it. I have no choice but to contact the state Attorney general and other agencies to inform and involve them of this unfair and fraudulent business practice.

The company is a fraud. They charged more than they showed. As soon as I realized, within the first order ( in 40 min), I sent an email to cancel. It took them 24 hours to reply and they replied back with an irrelevant response saying nothing. Now its the second day and I am still waiting for a response, I literally wrote every contact email I could, they are now telling me my order is on its way. I cant reach anyone, and basically the whole customer service is dead and they act like the company does not even exist. I wrote very clear emails to cancel my service before they attach anything, they just ignore and proceed. I have never experienced something that bad. The whole reason I trusted them is because glassdoor referenced them on their website. I wrote to glassdoor to find a contact to be visible, still no answer... They just take your money and go. I cant find anyone to respond me.!

Terrible service if you live in Europe! They offer you tons of services and after you pay for it, they inform you that practically none of them are available in Europe. I spent around US$ 700!

I had to be for more than a month discussing with customer support in order to have my money refunded and there is still a part of it missing.

The 48 hours resume response was not delivered on time, though I payed 50 dollars for this (they refunded me after lots of emails).

A total disrespect with the customer. Not to say the way some of the advisors reply, saying "its not their problem! Bla bla.

On top of all that, the quality of the final material - Resume and Cover Letter - was way beyond my expectations.

Truly disappointed. Do not offer your services out of the US anymore!

ATTENTION! They replied below saying they have specific packages for Europe, though none of these packages where ever offered to me neither at the moment of the purchase, nor in any of the dozens of emails I've been sending over a month to the Customer Support (after purchasing) informing that the services were not available to Europe.

Also, they answered very quickly to this public review... I wish they were so fast to answer to my emails about the refunding! Still waiting for an answer!

Scam! Do not fall for this. Stock critiques. Fake "real" feedback. Not personalized AT ALL. After I paid them almost $300 I ran their finished version of my resume through their free critique service again because something seemed weird and way off about the resume they edited for me. I received THE SAME EXACT critique as my original resume. The whole thing is a fake.
UPDATE: If you want to help others avoid this scam, in addition to filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, file a complaint with the NYS Attorney General here: https://ag.ny.gov/consumer-frauds/Filing-a-Consumer-Complaint. My attorney advised me to do this.
