I got my resume back and after the max amount of re-writes, began submitting it to jobs ( a lot of them!) that I was fully qualified for. I have gotten absolutely no response. The resume is so wordy that it probably scares even the ATS systems away! I have asked that it be re-worked and was told I need to wait for the 2 month period. By then, the jobs that I want will be gone! I am going to have to either fix this myself or pay another company to do it for me. I am so disappointed!

I hired Topresume to redo my resume as I wasn't getting many hits. They offer a review of your resume on Glassdoor and Indeed, which I thought looked promising. After promptly paying my $ 149, I waited about 2 weeks for anything back. I finally received a resume that looked completely ridiculous, and the way the words were placed was almost unreadable. I communicated with my "pro writer" over email (no phone number to contact) and again heard nothing back for a week...
***Update, while I would not use this service or company again and am seeking a better alternative. Emily was able to refund 60% of my funds. I felt this was fair, as I did use a small portion to tweak my own rendition f my resume. I would still suggest finding another company as the writers hear are just not that good.

I was very optimistic about having TopResume take over the task of helping me create a brand for myself. To help showcase the skills that I have that I couldn't quite do justice with my own words. I signed up for the resume+cover letter package which was a little over $200. I was promised a 7 day turnaround on my first draft. Well... that day came and went and so did the next day with no word from my writer. I sent an e-mail asking what was going on? Turns out my assigned writer hadn't even touched my order yet! And when they did, they had a draft to me the next day it was very shoddy. You can tell sentences were just copied and pasted from other places as there were 4 different font styles in the first paragraph alone. And they sent them late on a Friday, and you only get one week to talk back and forth to your writer. So of course I sent them on the weekend back, but that is 2 days already that I am sure my writer won't see my requests for edits and in return they will send me back the documents 1 more time but this will be the final outcome of my documents as time will not allow me to communicate for more edits. So far I am not impressed and feel like I would have been better off trying to find someone local to work with. Seriously folks, don't waste your money on TopResume.

Update: After being promised that my edits would be given to me within 2 business days, I still have not seen them. It is now the 3rd business day, and conveniently the last day I have to communicate with my writer to make further edits. This has been the most unprofessional experience I have ever had. This is seriously not worth your money.

I am very happy with the resume that Top Resume put together for me. I was not getting any job hits with my previous resume and I am now getting hits with my new and much improved resume. I could have never came up with the verbiage they used to highlight my skills. Very pleased and have recommended others to invest in themselves to land a great job by having a marketable resume.

I think overall my resume is better after going through the process. The resume writing process can be confusing considering that you can ask two different people and they could have two different perspectives on how long it should be or what should be included in it. Initially, I learned about TopResume by requesting a resume evaluation via Glassdoor. From the results, I realized that they pointed out that my resume showed that I was more of a "doer" than an "achiever." That's what sold me because I felt like that was exactly what my resume was missing but I'm not good at expressing my achievements. My resume advisor and I took an iterative approach. I sent her my initial resume and some of my achievements, got my first draft, took a more thorough look at my experience, and resubmitted. Overall, I think my resume benefited from the assistance. My only reservations about the experience were that I thought that it would be more open interaction with the advisor. Interaction with my advisor was behind a webpage wall and it felt like they were only there to input things into my resume. It felt like there was no room to ask questions. When I did ask a question the answer was around the line that "it's up to you." If they were available to clear up some of our questions about resume and not seem so distant this is a 5-star service.

If I could give negative stars, I would. This service is a complete waste of your hard-earned dollars. I could re-irritate what the other have said before be, but I'll keep it short:
- You are given a range of 10 days to complete your resume revisions/wants
- The writer I was given, I basically had to hold hands and spoon feed how to format and update the entire resume
- You are better off taking your investment and increasing your skills
- THEY BASICALLY JUST CHANGE THE MARGINS ON YOUR RESUME AND MOVE THINGS AROUND for $300+ dollars

All I can hope for is that I'm able to convince a couple of hard-working people from giving their money to this horrible horrible (I can't express horrible enough) company

Don't waste your money. Dealing with Topresume was extremely frustrating. They paired me with an 'expert' writer names Kathleen and she converted the bullet points in my resume to long paragraphs that no one reads. She used terms that do not make sense in a tech resume. They take the keywords from the sample job postings you provide them when placing your order. Then they inject them to the resume. I recognized the issues at very early stage but still they didn't accept their mistakes and kept telling me that their service is in line with my career goals. Everyone from sales to support and management are the same. I would never recommend this service to anyone.

If you're like me you probably think a resume is just about listing your work history. Thank goodness Top Resume reached out to me with a free analysis of my resume because it was a disaster! (and i'm a writer).

Dawson worked tirelessly to create an amazing resume for me that I am so proud of. Your resume is often your first impression to a potential client/employer and I now feel so much more confident about the whole process. These guys are amazing (and so reasonably priced!)

Caution, when they "pair" you with an "expert" it is anyone who wants to get paid. Not vetted, just a stranger, not staffed or on payroll, just random pay for hire with no verified experience can work on your resume that you have been fooled into paying for up front. They now have all of your personal info too. Many many reviews of poor products and service and refuses to refund. My half decent resume was torn apart and crammed into a cookie cutter template from the internet. Then my writer was offended by my disappointment. Through email communication I could tell she had much less work/life experience, was only doing this as a side gig, and was not familiar with my industry, nor took any of the mandatory questionnaire answers for action. Ask family or friends or find a service in person. Do not waste time and money on this overhyped essentially fraudulent service.

Top Resume did an extreme makeover in my resume, cover letter and LinkedIn Profile. Do not hesitate to get this service. In the first week after get my new resume I already got 3 job offers. The service is personal and you feel that they really take care of you in a individual way!

I purchased their "executive" service to keyword-optimise my resume. I successfully used my resume format for 20 years, but I figured out that with the new automated tools used by recruiters I may need a confirmation and maybe some touch-ups.

Not only that you only get a week with the writer (not disclosed prior to purchase) and because it takes in average 2 days for each interaction so at max you get a draft, a chance to review and a final version - like it or not.

Moreover, I had major concerns over the new version - not only that it looked like a MS Word template but it had obvious copy/paste text that had nothing to do with my actual experience! I asked to run it again through the applicant tracking systems (ATS) to compare with the initial assessment (that convinced me to purchase their services) but I was told that only Customer Service can do that - so how is the writer "keyword optimising" the resume with no access to ATS?

Moreover, their customer service is extremely bad - not only that it takes 2-3 days to respond back, but they also just repeat the same platitudes over and over again. I asked to run again the resume through ATS but it took 3 weeks (and countless messages) to finally get something in writing.

Now, in their free initial assessment my initial resume read as "57% IT, 16% Finance and 28% Other Industries" - reasonably correct based on my actual experience. After the "professional" re-write my "experience appears to be concentrated in Finance / Real Estate & Facilities, with exposure to Information Technology / Architecture" - and I NEVER worked in real estate nor facilities!

Lastly, the "professional LinkedIn profile" included in the executive service was a copy/paste from resume into corresponding LinkedIn areas - when their own best practices published on their own site clearly state that this is the worst thing you can do! When I raised this I was responded "tell us what you want there and we'll write it as such" - so why did they take my money then, to put on paper what I tell them? I can do that myself, why would I need a "professional" for this?

All in one, it was a complete waste of time and money and received absolutely no value from their services - it's better to just use an MS Word resume template and fill in the sections yourself.
