The company has garnered a mixed reputation among customers, with notable strengths in its engaging auction format and a diverse range of products that some users find enjoyable and affordable. Many appreciate the responsive customer service, which has been effective in addressing issues and facilitating refunds. However, significant concerns persist regarding product quality, with numerous complaints about receiving damaged or inferior items. Additionally, customers have reported frustrations with order cancellations and difficulties in the returns process. Overall, while the platform offers a fun shopping experience, it must improve product reliability and support to enhance customer satisfaction.

I purchased a Weather Leather Shoulder Bag 11/6/15. No info on the website stated it was used. Tried to email Tophatter at the web address written on the invoice but not available.
Very dissapointed
All brand named items are checked out, guaranteed authentic. I've purchased many items from jewelry to Coach handbags and everything has been just as described. Don't let a couple bad reviews dilute your decision to shop there. I've been both a seller and buyer on ebay, imagine the bad reviews they've gotten.
I started on tophatter.com about 4 years ago when it first came out. At this time, it was mostly people selling all of their gently used items. Now if you visit the website, you will notice it is overrun with independent sellers and shops offering everything from makeup to jewelery!
This is a great way for people who have small businesses trying to get some new sales! I have personally sold almost my entire inventory in just over a month. The only problem is, there are also a lot of spam sellers, who are people that have these computer generated names like "Gtfhvh*******". These are retailers who ship from China. Sometimes what you might think is a "deal" isn't much of one at all!
Overall, I love this site. I visit is numerous times a day and sometimes I even lay in bed at night just watching other people bid. Check it out for yourself and see what I mean!
Selling fake items, con artists. Too good to be true, because it's all fake. Never responded to my complaints. Never got a refund either. Be ready to be scammed if you use Tophatter.
A couple of the items I bought were ok. I bought two watches that broke and the sellers refunded my money right away. I sent a defective product back and had to fight to get my money back. The last straw was two purchased from sellers in India that never sent the items. Tophatter was not doing anything about my first claim and I had to go through PayPal to get my money back. The other seller I had made two purchased and I haven't gotten either of those either and it has been months. I have a claim open and once again Tophatter has done nothing. I will never buy anything from Tophatter ever again. The sellers are still selling stuff in feautered auctions.
I have tried this side and on my first try I have got screwed! One of the sellers sent me damaged product, I complained and it didn't get me anywhere! The Tophatter "staff" ( no living person available) said they will look into it. Yeah they did! I learned that I'm not getting refund or replacement for the damaged product! No explanation why or how they made that decision! Stay away from this website! Save your money! Go to a real store to make your purchases! Save your self a headache! These are just a modern THIEVES!
I bought am apple laptop and it arrived in just a few days... the problem was that a key was missing... i applied for a return but the case closed in just three days... i sent the item back three days and the seller should have had the device the day tophatter closed the case... the reason given... i didnt print the label... i have no idea what was meant by that but i bid on the device on October 1st and returned it shortly thereafter... it is now November 8th and according to tophatter they are still reviewing the matter... i do not know what they are reviewing... they asked for a return tracking number and i gave it to them so at this point i have no device and no refund... the seller probably put it back up on tophatter and sold it to someone else... i frankly could care less what the seller does with the device as long as i am refunded the 160 dollars that i paid... in another incidence i bid on and won a colored showerhead and i received colored ice cubes... the seller will not grant a refund because he or she says i received the showerhead... i didnt pay a lot for the showerhead but the seller has some nerve to question me rather than try to make things right... my third and last gripe is that there is no way to talk to a live person at tophatter... they are cowards hiding behind their damn email system... if i want to talk to a live person i should be able to... they should bit be allowed to conduct business in this manner.
I've ordered about 20 items. Once I got something I didn't order and I'm still trying to get a refund. To add insult to injury, I had to pay to return the item I didn't order and never got what I did. I've ordered several pieces of jewelry trusting the suggested retail price. Earrings, while gold, were lighter than plastic. A necklace that said the pendant was 1 1/2 inches was only 3/8 of an inch. Some face cream was open and about 1/3 missing (all over the outside of the container) When I contacted the seller, he promised to include a "gift" with my next order. It is next to impossible to settle any problems, Tophatter itself took 10 days to even look at my complaint and it was obvious they hadn't read it. I'm ordered my last item and hope they get shut down.
Be careful buying electronic items, be very careful. They will probably transparent like refurbished items. But it's worst. Either it's not working or it's a very old products.
I filed with Californias Attorney General as well as Pennsylvania since I live in Pennsylvania they forwarded me to some other places to file which I will be doing tonight they assured me that they will get to the bottom of this and every time I felt was in the Attorney General I have always gotten quick results as you all know I also filed with the Better Business Bureau.and of course ripoff.com I have given top Hatter 3 weeks to correspond with me as to why I have been suspended I have been a great seller and they said so and then all of a sudden they cut me off no reply whatsoever it is a terrible sight and no disrespect to those of you that like it my personal experience is stay the hell away from it and I promise you I will look for a Better site these people need to be arrested they are filing under a false name I happen to be dating an attorney who looked into this and I will be suing them for discrimination and defamation of character I will let you know how I make out please let my experiences teach you so that you don't have to go through what I'm going through
Tophatter is a joke! They are the ones writing the positive reviews. If you notice some sellers have huge auctions at the same time on the same days and have hundreds of participants. Ever wonder why. It's because these people work for Tophatter. They get extra advertising for free unlike the other sellers who are charged $50 a day to list their catalogs. I'm sure if you're on this site often enough you'll catch on to who the employees are and to the regular public sellers are. This site is by far the shadiest site I've ever seen. And you can never talk to a live person only emails. Which is good because that way you can document everything they are telling you now so when it's time to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau you'll have everything in writing. The positive reviews from the Tophatter employees are obvious because they go on and on about how wonderful the site is. It's so obvious they are just trying to cover their tracks. If your seller make sure to check your account and your payouts often. Before I got the generic response about my account being suspended I caught them withholding money which I've never seen. And have no anticipation of ever receiving. Their founder is in his third bankruptcy which to him is no big deal Because he will just close this site to keep all of this sellers hard-earned money and open another site under a different name. I read a review that somebody has 300 friends that purchase happily and have a five star review for Tophatter but that is obviously written by one of the top hatter employees. If you're having luck on the site congratulations if you're not get out now while you still can! But make sure before you leave the site that you have been paid for all of your transactions otherwise you will never see your money and they will never respond to you. Best of luck to everyone and beware!
I received a Swiss CZ 18K WGP Bracelet around Oct 13-14 and have worn it every since, but last week I found a CZ missing and am wondering if you would do anything about it? It is a very pretty bracelet and looks so real and sparkles but the one stone is gone and I would like for you to make it right by me. Thank you, Margaret Anne Oswalt *******@yahoo.com
Beautiful bracelet I ordered it on Oct 22 and I got it on the 24. Love it
I won the bidding and i did not receive my item. At first seller was cooperative after 2 months of waiting i just cannot reach her. My money is gone No Item rcvd and NO ANSWER FROM TOPHATTER. They closed my file.
My first win was a set of metallic eye liners. They arrive fast but 4 of 6 were completely dried out. The other two were close to it. I got a refund. Tried my luck on a ring which I kept because it was beautiful even tho it may be fake. Several purchases of jewelry were fake so I am in the middle of a return for them. Got night vision goggles that I paid $45 for and they don't even work like they said. Probably $15 set in store even tho they said msrp is $198. Lastly received my drone helicopter I bought for another $40 of an msrp of $200. Found online for $14. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS WEBSITE!
I've been threatened by seller because I have an honest review she told me to take it down that I got a bag worth over $350 for $55. Not worth 56 cents if it's a piece of crap.
So I made 4 purchases as a new customer. My first was a ring from bonnie. Waited days, never heard anything. Should have waited but I pulled the trigger on a coach bag 85 dollars the bag looked beautiful and I though what a steal. Description said good condition looks great! After i get the bag some 2 weeks later I would consider the bag poor condition and the picture colors were enhanced because there is nothing vivid about the colors anymore. The hardware is chipped and the bag seems to have been washed. So back to my first purchase... I get an email stating the sellers account had been hacked and she was refunding money for some 49 customers because of ot and she was still going to send our items we purchase we just wouldnt be able to track them, odd to me why you would so she asked that we leave nice feedback so it doesn't ruin her business LOL WELL, a few days later I recieve a fraud alert from my credit card company they declined a charge in California, I'm. In Florida. Scammers for sure don't. Buy anything from BONNIE
If you are expecting solid gold or real diamonds for $15.00, chances are you should read the description, not just look at the photo. The items on this site are reasonably priced for what you are getting, and compared to prices you would pay elsewhere.
I bought 4 rings from this site and they are all fake even tho I was told they were white gold. Also did not receive my last two rings and did not get a refund. I have brought it to the attention of tophatter and they did nothing. I would not recommend this site to anyone EVER! POOR SERVICE!
Ordered a product which I never got and they won't help you get a refund. I am out over $100, and they admit that they can't get me a refund. I am on.my own and I have to chalk it up to a lesson learned. DO NOT USE THIS APP. Learn from. My mistake.
Answer: There is also the FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION that can help with these types of problems
Answer: You have to read the descriptions. It will tell you if it's real or plated.
Answer: Do not deal with this company,,, all jewelery is crap n cheap
Answer: Tophatter will screw you over. Shop Amazon or overstock.
Answer: Good luck! Tophatter rippes off the sellers so they are not going to be very likely to return your money.
Answer: Justin you are absolutely correct. I find out the hard way. I had my own auction with nice AUTHENTIC designer items and cosmetics (Becca, Cargo, Smahbox, Too Faced, etc). I lost big time. $40 Cargo palette sold for $10; it cost me $15. Items that I started higher to cover my cost never sold. I still had to pay fees for the item being listed. A $200 Calvin Klein purse sold for $20; it cost me $80 wholesale. Run!
Answer: If you end up buying a few items from the same seller they can do a combined shipment but you rarely get the same buyer items since they only let the sellers sell 10 items a day. It is different for the sellers that have their own auctions.
Answer: You will notice the same names no matter the day, time etc. Bidding against you very often. Is it a coincidence? Personally I don't believe in coincidences.
Answer: Depends on what you are selling. Yes, a lot of items go unsold in the jewelry and accessories categories... as well as others. Coach and Michael Kors and other designer brands, not much goes unsold, because here's the catch - - you pay fees on the starting bid. TH wants everything to start at $1. So you get punished if you start higher as to not get screwed by a low purchase price. Say you buy a designer bag for $120. If you start that bag at $100, you're already paying over $10 in fees. **IF** you can manage to sell it for a profit, there are still the commission and bank fees. If you start it at $1, you're barely paying any listing fees but it might only sell for $80 (or less!). So, less fees, but you lost your ass on the item. It's messed up. Most sellers have put in their time to see if they can make a profit or to see if TH will change, but they all seem to end up leaving. I'm convinced the only ones who stay to sell there are the counterfeit or crappy quality sellers who are buying items for next to nothing, because that seems to be the only way to make a profit there these days. I would go the ebay route if you're looking to sell.
Answer: Yes! Sale of counterfeit items is prohibited. If you are concerned about the authenticity of an item purchased on the platform, you may return it for up to 30 days from delivery. See full details on our return policy here: http://tinyurl.com/h7xokwj.
