This was my first interaction with Tophatter. I won 4 bids and paid with my valid credit card. Tophatter arbitrarily cancelled my purchases, suspended my bidding privileges for 24 hours for excessive bidding failures, then refunded my payments. My credit card company assured me that they had approved all purchases. Tophatter offered no explanation.

Very disappointed!

I have in the past ordered many objects from this company and I have to sad it is not good. I still have things forthcoming but I promise after this I will avoid you site. At least 8 of 10 products was very poor and not usable or not fit to display on your site. I have spend an great amount of money. I am on a senior on a fixed income and was trying to pre-pare for Christmas gifts, a terrible waste of what little I have. Now after months of trying, I have nothing to offer as gifts for my grand kids and children. Nothing on your site has any explanations of anything and this does not help the consumer to make wise decisions... is that the point, to make sales. This could be a great site if it were honest with buyers. This is very sad indeed.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. I never received my items and I am out over $56 for they basically say "we sent it"

Deceptive Advertising

Many of the sellers picture an item but they're not selling that item - they're selling a piece that goes to the item. For example, they picture a 35mm camera but all you're getting is a little plastic lens to keep the screen from being scratched. Or, the picture of a little speaker for your phone and a case but all they're selling is the case. They picture a 24 piece set of icing tips but you only get 6 of them. They also put the MSRP exorbitantly higher than the value of the item. I ordered a ring that had an MSRP of over $500 it wasn't worth $2 and looked like something I could have got out of a bubble gum machine. They picture a 24 LED motion detected light that they have an MSRP of $1,252 that you can buy online for $32 for four of them. Many of the sellers are based in China so when you go to return the item you can't because it cost so much to ship it back and many of the items come broken. TopHatter's response was we're sorry for the inconvenience and because you returned or cancelled your orders we're blocking you for 24 hours. It didn't matter that the seller was engaging in deceptive advertising. Their response was punishe the customer. Shouldn't be holding buyers / the consumer to a higher standard than the seller (better known to me as theives).

If you ever do manage to win an auction on a half way decent item for a few dollars that is worth much more, they never send it, it's that simple, that's how the scam works basically. I realized this when I noticed a 45 dollar watch I won for 3 dollars never made it past a "shipping partner" in Los Angeles and USPS never received the item. It's really easy to win auctions on Tophatter on a few halfway decent items sprinkled here and there if you're patient (con artists call it "salting"). All you have to do is set a ceiling on your own bids of say 3 dollars on a 25 dollar item and keep bidding on the item you want when it comes up again. In other words if you see a sport camera worth 25 dollars bid on it until it goes over three dollars and stop, wait until it comes up again and eventually you can win it for around 5%-10% of the retail value. The problem is Tophatter never sends those items, they simply wait you out until you demand a refund (which is the dumbest thing you can do really) What they do send is items you bid more than you can buy them for on Ebay f(which is where I bet most of the "vendors" buy their crap).
It's all set up to rip you off every way possible, there IS NO WAY TO "WIN" ON AN AUCTION ON TOPHATTER, for instance they might show a picture of a Nikon camera with a price under it that is the retail value of the camera but what you don't see in the heat of the moment with all of the distractions of multiple auctions running simultaneously is that in very tiny print it says "camera not included". All you're bidding on is a cheap plastic lens cap and I can't tell you how many times I've seen them go for over 50 dollars and as much as 125 dollars. This website if a fraud and should be shut down, it targets mainly gullible, unintelligent people or old folks who think they're getting a good deal.

Jewels from china look very cheap, nothing like the photos in your program and some of the mention gold plate over silver, is actually gold plate over some iron (it's magnetic)

I have bought a little bit of everything on tophatter, needless to say the items that I actually got was always DAMAGED and the other half of my items NEVER came at all... I have been using tophatter since August with the idea of this is going to be how I can afford a great Christmas this year, out of the 32 items I won in bidding I have only received 4 in good condition everything else was broken damaged in handling or not sent to me at all. The only good thing about tophatter is I have gotten refunded for the damaged items... Its a total disappointment and not worth ur time dont fall for it like I did! Oh and definatly dont buy from the seller Gina! I ordered 2 PvP gaming systems and never got either one she always sends them to a completely different state!

The site is top of the line. Some of their sellers are not. I have ordered and returned 2 items and never received a refund for the items they were sent back right away the next day but the seller claims i didn't send it back in a timely fashion! The site says it will email a return label but have never received one ever. You might want to work on that. I have sent complaints several times to no avail i am just out the product and the money it seems. Both products were from the same company. Check the orders i asked to return you will find it. I am waiting to find out if this last order i was shorted the extra ring i purchased will be resolved. This might make my review a bit different.

Well first when they say it will be shipped from this time to this time, they are very wrong. I ordered a shirt and it said it would ship in 11-13 business days. So I waited and waited. I have even even waited for when they tell you an estimated delivery which was way over the 11-13 days and it still has not came. It would be one thing if shipping was free but it wasn't, it was 5 dollars. Oh and get this in order to receive a refund you have to wait 60 days and if by then the item does not come then you can get your money back. Who has that kind of time to wait for an item for 60 days. I have wrote the customer support many times and they just say you have to wait 60 days. I even tell them that on the order the shipping wI'll not update so it still says September 18th when today is September 26th! So do jot use this site at all.
Another thing is, when you get the product you ordered there is no instructions on how to use it (which was the case for the curler I bought) and the package was not sealed. When you buy clothes, it's low quality like the fabric is already coming undone. I also got a ring for my grandma and it looks like a 25 cent ring you get out of one of the coin machines at toys r us so it looks nothing like the description.
PLEASE DO NOT BOTHER WITH THESE PEOPLE!

Sellers have between 1-10 business days from payment to ship an item according to Tophatter policy. Because there are many unforeseen delays with customs, and longer ship times from international countries, we allow an extended ship time of 60 days from ship date for an item to be delivered.

Some good some bad

I liked the bidding, but it becomes addictive. The products are cheap and don't last. Some products don't even do what they are suppose to do. I bought 2 watches, women's watches that looked lady like in picture. When I got them they were huge, looked like a clown should wear them.

Because the items are misrepresented until you win an auction. Example: A set of six different essential oils was advertised with the word "oils". It appeared to be an assortment of six different oils from the add, When I had won the bid. It allowed me to select 1 oil. From what it appears, I would have received only 1 oil. Same thing with the Fingerling Monkeys. It is really misleading and misrepresented in both cases. It could be argued that it is even illegal. I do not fully trust tophatter.com until they fix this. Bait and switch is ILLEGAL! Guys, I would not be surprised if you get sued one day. Additionally, when I find these discrepancies and cancel orders, my account is block for too many cancellations. Fair and accurate advertising would go a long way to prevent cancellations. I rated your site a 2 out of 10 with 10 being the best. With the false advertising issues, it could have easily been lower. Hope you guys actually try to fix it.

The jewelry and the pictures of all the items that I purchased was amazing however once received the quality is not what is stated. The Rings have turned turned color and now look tarnished and, the iPad thing for children is a plastic toy that does not cost over $5 in the United States
