"I purchased items from 40+ auction wins then the bomb dropped and every charge to two different Visa cards were being declined. Lengthy contact with my Banks and associated Fraud Prevention units revealed that they were not declining the charges and were also not receiving the charge info from Tophatteer. After extensive head banging with Tophatter lackidasical rep, she stated it couldn't be a problem on their end, so now I cant use their site since they are declining my charges. Talk about "shooting yourself in the foot", oh well, their loss and I'll save my money.
Well, mysterically all of a sudden it is now accepting both of my credit cards, so I thank the unknown who corrected the problem so I can now give it 5 stars.

MY EXPERIENCE, I purchased may items form sellers on Top hatter to find out most of it was not authentic. They say that buyer comments are for public view but have yet to find this. They allow items to be mis represented and then will charge you for the return of items if you have to many returns, they say is to protect the seller against fraudulant buyers. I say whats fraudulant if your willing to return misrepresented items for your money back. Just don't charge for the return.

I just purchased a Peephole camera, but did not know it was from China. After making my already establish peephole larger, got the product installed, but it does not work. I will never purchase from oversears again. Trying to return it or get a replacement is like a 3-ring circus. Better to buy in the US. Easier and probably less expensive and better quality in the end. I am grateful to the people who post on this website, because I almost "stepped in it" again. I will not use this website to make purchases. Too complicated.

Site produces auctions of items that are deceptively miss represented or of such poor quality. Very cheap does not bring fair justice. Clothing never fits or can only be worn once if lucky. Hard items are NEVER as described or of quality lending them unusable. You will almost always be disappointed or miss lead. I cannot say ripped off because you bid for the purchase. Truly Buyer Beware. In fact, just stay away. Gets NO worse.

I purchased 6 items, all rubbish, the best part is this, I saw a couple of watches and they indicate the price of the items are around 100 times more than something you can purchase direct from CHINA, however, I received 2 watches which I paid 27.00 for, now if they worked that would be fine, But they are totally fake, you can't even use the buttons in fact are just pretend watches. It is a total scam, I am yet to receive the 5th Item. DON'T BELEIVE THE PRICE THEY SAY ITS WORTH, I have purchased pl
Enty of stuff on EBAY that is from China, and yes you take a risk on the quality, sometimes it is well worth it, sometimes well its just bad luck. BUT receiving a product that is advertised as over 1k that is not worth a jelly bean. DON'T GET SUCKED IN TO THIS SITE.

I "bought" an item before Christmas, received an email by Tophatter that I would receive it before the 25th Dec. Then I received an email from the shipper on the 24th December to say that it was picked up in China. I am still waiting and it is the 25th of January. Just tell the truth and do not generate a computer email that is incorrect. Will probably cancel it due to delay but it will cost me more to ship package back. Advice do not over bid

I wish I had looked for complaints before ordering about 15 items, It is junk & doesn, t work or has missing parts, They gave me credit on two cheap items then insisted I pay shipping to return inferrior items before credit would be issued. Their reason for this was because I was returning too many its but refused to admit their products didn't work They make their money because most people refuse to add insult to injury by having to pay to return something that cannot be resold since it doesn't work, unless they send out the broken items over & over again,

I have so far bid for and received around 20 items and I am delighted with every single one. You get what you pay for so be realistic in your expectations. I have mainly gone for jewellery as this is expensive in the UK even as costume jewellery so delighted with the items that I have received. Do I expect to receive a $1000 ring for £2 - no, so if the prices are inflated - then reality check should kick in. Everything that I have received is top notch and I am very happy with everything without exception. So much so, I have bid again tonight. And I also have managed to get 4 tablets for my staff members for a grand total of £200 that would otherwise have been at least £800 - sufficient for the needs of the business and less cost for me

I first saw Tophatter.com in a TV ad and was curious. I have purchased several items since then and have had a good response from the folks that run Tophatter. They are not afraid to return your purchase and receive your return with no questions.

I ordered several items from this site for Christmas only to find out just how cheap these products are. I could not give any of them for Christmas cause I would have embarrassed myself. Spent lots of money and now find out they cost MORE to send back then I paid. I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM HERE AGAIN. All the products either didn't work or were so cheaply made. UGH... So disappointed.

Customer service is excellent. Buyers protection is outstanding service. Some of the seller are trying to save on shipping even they charge individually for shipping and ship together in one package. Customer service is refund one shipping fee.

Answer: There is also the FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION that can help with these types of problems

Answer: Justin you are absolutely correct. I find out the hard way. I had my own auction with nice AUTHENTIC designer items and cosmetics (Becca, Cargo, Smahbox, Too Faced, etc). I lost big time. $40 Cargo palette sold for $10; it cost me $15. Items that I started higher to cover my cost never sold. I still had to pay fees for the item being listed. A $200 Calvin Klein purse sold for $20; it cost me $80 wholesale. Run!
Answer: If you end up buying a few items from the same seller they can do a combined shipment but you rarely get the same buyer items since they only let the sellers sell 10 items a day. It is different for the sellers that have their own auctions.
Answer: You will notice the same names no matter the day, time etc. Bidding against you very often. Is it a coincidence? Personally I don't believe in coincidences.
Answer: Depends on what you are selling. Yes, a lot of items go unsold in the jewelry and accessories categories... as well as others. Coach and Michael Kors and other designer brands, not much goes unsold, because here's the catch - - you pay fees on the starting bid. TH wants everything to start at $1. So you get punished if you start higher as to not get screwed by a low purchase price. Say you buy a designer bag for $120. If you start that bag at $100, you're already paying over $10 in fees. **IF** you can manage to sell it for a profit, there are still the commission and bank fees. If you start it at $1, you're barely paying any listing fees but it might only sell for $80 (or less!). So, less fees, but you lost your ass on the item. It's messed up. Most sellers have put in their time to see if they can make a profit or to see if TH will change, but they all seem to end up leaving. I'm convinced the only ones who stay to sell there are the counterfeit or crappy quality sellers who are buying items for next to nothing, because that seems to be the only way to make a profit there these days. I would go the ebay route if you're looking to sell.
