I ordered three items to start out with to see how the app goes and my fears were proved right. One of my items came in and didn't work. One of my items came in but in the wrong color and now I either have to live with it or pay to return it to CHINA! And the third item, a hand-held video game system, came in and works but the screen is so small that it's hard to enjoy playing the games on it. The display screen dimensions are not listed when bidding and the advertisement makes it look at least double the size that it actually is. Be cautious about this app because you'll have fun winning an item at auction but when it comes in you will be disappointed by what you actually get. To be fair, they did refund one of the items for me but that's as far as I've gotten.

Several items I won on tophatter were refunded, the bids were fairly placed, I won and paid. I thought this was a auction site where the highest bid won. The Chinese accept only the highest bids placed on items and refund if your bid does not meet their expectation. Twice my browser has been hijacked while on this site, be careful, they search your pc and you don't even know it. There are better sites out there, stay away from this one!

Only place I used my bank card was
Tophatter and $3229. 00 was withdrawn from an ATM in texas from my account and I haven't been to Texas. Someone in the system isn't honest. Beaware that it could happen to you also.

They dont come with everything you need to use then
Bought the vehicle blackbox dvr camera. Needs a tf card to use it which does not come with it
Bought the mini game entertainment system. Does not come with the plug to plug it in so cant use it.

We tried Tophatter and enjoyed the fun of bidding. But then reality hit! It takes FOREVER to receive the products. Then comes the REAL HEARTBREAK. The products are NOTHING like what is advertised. The quality is EXTREMELY POOR and they come in cheap packaging with no instructions.
They readily accept returns alright, if you are willing to pay two or three times the price you paid for the product for return shipping.
Looks like fun but... DON'T DO IT! You'll be SORRY!

All of the nintendo systems sold on Tophatter are chinese fakes. I bought one and the only half decent game on it is the original mario bros. I just watched people bidding and paying 70-100 dollars on them. The background pics on the ad show super mario world. That is simply false advertising!

Just no! I joined tophatter over a year and half ago, maybe it's gotten better, but I doubt it. I purchased quite a few items, received only a few of them. One purchase wasn't all there and some were broken, but it was a too bad for you situation, I contacted the seller who told me and i quote " well what do you expect, I sell these for a lot more than they went for, so you get what you pay for". Now, I cannot help that no one bid higher than me on this purchase nor should that matter, you advertised certain items, that's what I bid on, but please don't think customer support stepped in and said now hold on that's wrong, nope, they said well we cannot do much about it! So, there's that, but it gets worse, about 7 items I bought never arrived, so i contact customer support about it and they say it says delivered and it did, however I went to my post office to inquire about it and they looked up the tracking and informed me that it wasn't a legitimate tracking site that tophatter uses. So, yes it shows delivered but no it's not legitimately delivered. One item arrived two months AFTER it showed delivered! I again contacted customer support to inform them of what my post office found out and they said well, sorry. So, unless you want to give your money away and hope your purchases arrive, I would stay well away from this site!

Anytime a package is confirmed Delivered to the correct location through a valid tracking number, we do ask that shoppers follow up with their local post office for more details.
The USPS uses scanners which log a carrier's GPS location, and an inquiry to the local post office should be able to help track down the package's true location. The post office's tracking is more robust than the tracking available online, so if this ever occurs, please ask the post office for their expanded tracking details. After providing documentation from the post office a full refund can be processed.

I bought a name brand cosmetics item on a lark not knowing what to expect. It showed up rather quickly and I was impressed. I was not impressed as soon as I opened the package and saw the actual product. I own several items of the real product so it was pretty easy to tell it was fake. Fortunately, tophatter has a great return policy for fakes. I submitted my request for refund and immediately got my money back.

So I won a couple of bids for $1, yes super cheap for probably $8 items. The item were shipped to a unknown wrong address in a different state. All I got was a refund because I won a super low bid. What a scam. Don't expect to receive an item if you get a great deal, they'll purposely ship it to themselves and say it was mis-shipped.

I have a big problem with this company. About 5-6 wks ago, I high bidded on a hearing amplification product. Much to my surprise 2 of this item showed up in my mailbox on 2 different days. I NEVER bid on or authorized a 2nd one of these. On 2 occasions I have e-mailed customer service only to get back the same generic e-mail saying that I would have to send the item back to China. I bid $14 and the return cost for this unauthorized item would be $14.59. That is a financial lose to me on an item I once again NEVER bidded on! Unbelievably lousy customer service. I strongly believe I was ripped off and I will NEVER do business with this company again. After you read this, I hope you will consider the same!

I'm terribly sorry that Tophatter doesn't meet your expectations and your experience hasn't been satisfactory. Being there are millions of users who use Tophatter, this is not the case for them all.
Tophatter will always process refunds for buyers upon receiving a valid tracking number from them indicating that the order has been returned to the seller. On our platform, refund without return or prepaid return labels are provided to U.S.-based buyers until the buyer hits a threshold for free returns.
For internationally located buyers, we provide a refund without return or some store credit to offset some of the cost of returning the item at their own expense until the buyer hits the threshold. The acceptable return threshold is continuously calculated as a percentage of the buyer's total purchases. Once this threshold has been met, the cost of returning the item to the seller with tracking will be at the buyer's expense.
When this happens, it is explained in the email buyers receive when they request a return, that they are responsible for the return shipping cost, and the buyer is provided with the seller's return address to facilitate the successful return of the order.
Unfortunately, you've requested returns in excess of the threshold, and we are unable to provide more free returns at this time.

Thanks for your comment on Sitejabber. And understand, I call the shots like it is. If you look at my other review, I praised the action taken by TOPHATTER Regarding return. BUT, If you are really all interested on products sold on your Site, please send me a address and I would be MORE than Happy to send you a Box of stuff I have purchased on TOPHATTER, and some that I didn't ask for a return. (Just took it as YOU GOT ME on this one) SERIOUS, I will send it to you (you pay postage) but items I paid for you can keep. THEN, you come back onto this site and tell me what I stated is UNTRUE and I will delete this review, and write a complete apology. My review is in no form to hurt or condemn your site. (A lot of people like cheap China Made Junk/ that is why we have Dollar Stores) It is a fun site to play on, but the stuff on the site isn't what it appears to be in photo. I have got a few items that I did like. ( A light cup, that has lights on bottom and they turn on when you pour liquid into it) Describe Cup for beer, and show a couple cups in picture, You get 1. Drink beer in it.? Sorry Mr. Graciela, maybe my mistake, because I live in TEXAS, and this cup holds a max 4 oz... We do shots that big. But all else saying, it was cute how it worked, made of plastic, and maybe a novelty item. Total cost $7.00, And then you have these rediculious retail prices.

Well got somemore china junk in the last couple days. I mean this stuff is how they say (POS), Contacted TOPHATTERS for return, they instantly refunded my money back to my PP account. I wanted to send this stuff to TOPHATTER, so they can see what this junk really is, but I'm sure they already know. The site is fun, but you have to realize, all these pictures are deceiving, I bought a Grow lite, it picture shows it sitting above some flower, shining down on them. The Lamp itself is no bigger than a rose bud, and you could probably hide it in the palm of your hand. BUT again, this is a Bid site, and I think TOPHATTER is trying to make sure you are satisfied. But these China dealing sellers are taking advantage of the site. If you don't like, they refund... But catch this, just like I did with the grow light (Never asked for refund). Read other reviews below, some people laugh, throw stuff in trash, never ask for refund. I did the same on the Light. I'm like, how damn stupid is this, and how damn stupid was I to buy it. You kind of feel like your an idiot that they got you! LOL Funny, but not really...
This is a great way to get a lot of gifts for any family member or friend. I love competing against others and i really love the victory of winning. Items are cheap enough for any wallet, the time that you receive your product is great and if, for any reason at all, you need to return an item, it's super easy. I love the fact that its all done through the site and that you never have to speak to anyone... unless you choose to. I shop here frequently and am glad i found Tophatter...

Answer: Justin you are absolutely correct. I find out the hard way. I had my own auction with nice AUTHENTIC designer items and cosmetics (Becca, Cargo, Smahbox, Too Faced, etc). I lost big time. $40 Cargo palette sold for $10; it cost me $15. Items that I started higher to cover my cost never sold. I still had to pay fees for the item being listed. A $200 Calvin Klein purse sold for $20; it cost me $80 wholesale. Run!
Answer: If you end up buying a few items from the same seller they can do a combined shipment but you rarely get the same buyer items since they only let the sellers sell 10 items a day. It is different for the sellers that have their own auctions.

Answer: Depends on what you are selling. Yes, a lot of items go unsold in the jewelry and accessories categories... as well as others. Coach and Michael Kors and other designer brands, not much goes unsold, because here's the catch - - you pay fees on the starting bid. TH wants everything to start at $1. So you get punished if you start higher as to not get screwed by a low purchase price. Say you buy a designer bag for $120. If you start that bag at $100, you're already paying over $10 in fees. **IF** you can manage to sell it for a profit, there are still the commission and bank fees. If you start it at $1, you're barely paying any listing fees but it might only sell for $80 (or less!). So, less fees, but you lost your ass on the item. It's messed up. Most sellers have put in their time to see if they can make a profit or to see if TH will change, but they all seem to end up leaving. I'm convinced the only ones who stay to sell there are the counterfeit or crappy quality sellers who are buying items for next to nothing, because that seems to be the only way to make a profit there these days. I would go the ebay route if you're looking to sell.
