The company enjoys a generally positive reputation for its unique subscription boxes filled with a delightful variety of Japanese snacks, praised for their quality and reliable, fast shipping. Many customers appreciate the thematic approach and informative booklets included with each box, enhancing their experience. However, concerns arise regarding customer service, particularly issues related to auto-renewals and a lack of responsive support when problems occur. While many customers express satisfaction with the product, frustrations about billing practices and inadequate assistance suggest a need for improved customer service protocols to enhance overall satisfaction.

Our family looks forward to our box from Tokyotreat every month, even my picky eaters. It's lots of fun to try out all the new things.
I've loved all of my boxes from TokyoTreat! Even with the crisis going on, I've received all of my boxes! Some were delayed, but that's okay! I got to enjoy multiple boxes in one month! Thank you for your outstanding service and great quality products! Keep them coming!
I'm new to Tokyo Treat but I've been impressed with them so far. An interesting range of snacks and an insightful look at Japanese culture. Everything in the box is fresh. They're using DHL to ship boxes, so be prepared to spend an extra $10 for shipping. The upside is delivery is very quick. Also, I had a problem with my first delivery, but their customer service was prompt in responding and resolving the issue quickly.
I've been a regular of Tokyo treat at various times. I love their selection and trying new things.
I especially love corn potage themed snacks.
I've been a faithful subscriber to Tokyo Treat for nearly two years without issue. However, they've used the COVID-19 pandemic to turn their company into a scam.
For context, my May box shipped on April 13th with an expected ETA of 3-5 weeks. At the end of that time, I contacted Tokyo Treat to let them know it never showed. This was after they charged me an extra $5.00 without consent to track the package, and then never provided tracking. They asked me to wait 2 more weeks.
2 more weeks go by, and the box still hasn't arrived. So I contact them again, now asking for a refund. They again ask me to wait. This box has been missing for 2.5 months now and they can't tell me where it is.
Their customer service team also refuses to do anything, instead answering with lies and copied/pasted responses. Be especially wary of any replies you receive from Selly or Kartini.
After repeatedly asking to escalate the issue to a manager, I still haven't gotten my money back. They also refuse to cancel the remaining unshipped boxes on my account.
I have been forced to file a complaint with the BBB and dispute the charges on my credit card.
You can also see how quickly they turned to scamming customers by the staggering amount of fake reviews on this website. All you need is an email address to sign up.
Total scam, I never received the box and they didn't refund me. They deleted the chat and my order so that I don't have any proof, but luckily I screenshot.
So I placed an order for a 3 month gift subscription but I misunderstood where I was to enter the recipients info, and the email to claim my gift came to me instead. Within an hour of placing that order, I tried to cancel, but their steps to do so do not even take you to any page resembling their illustrations with a cancellation "button" - only a summary of the order. Finally after multiple tries their "customer portal" - which by this time felt like a more apt name would be "customer portal to a black hole", it said the order was cancelled, so I made a new order with the correct info - but no refund for the $100.34 for the 1st one. Attached is a screenshot of their latest response from customer service. This is THE most unbelievably insane statement I've ever heard From a company before.
I love it, its so exciting to always find something new and random in the boxes. It's worth all the money! Gonna buy a 12 month subscription soon!
TokyoTreat is one of my favorite companies right now during the COVID-19 crisis. When the shipments got delayed from decreased flights they worked their hardest to find another inexpensive method of shipping that was more reliable and even faster than the first! Thank you TokyoTreat for my amazing japanese snacks to brighten my day every month!
Snacks every month to get us excited for a future Tokyo trip! Every month is filled with delicious and sometimes interesting snacks that we devour or giggle over. Thanks for helping my family get even more excited for the future!
You have to try it. You will not regret it trust me! :) there is so much cool stuff in every box!
Love everything in the boxes I get! Plus they're a great company that makes sure their customers are happy!
They took my money and refuse to ship boxes I paid for because I tried to get a refund from my credit card company after they renewed my subscription at a price I didn't agree to, without any warning, and with completely useless robot outsourced help.
Again, to be clear, they have $360 of my money, and have shipped me only two boxes from it. They sent documents I never saw to my credit card company to induce them to not issue a refund either.
Great variety of unique sweets and snacks. My order arrived 1 week early as well and I wasn't disappointed with what was inside. Great stuff TokyoTreat!
I subscribed for a 3 Month Abo and the selection of Snacks in the May Box are really awesome. I would recommend it to everyone who want to try something new.
There is a large variety sweet and salty, gummy and crunchy. Very delicious! A very fun experience! #tokyotreat
Just received my first premium box through #tokyotreat. I am very impressed, there a6te so many interesting things to look through and I look forward to the taste tests! The box is literally packed with things, and the sakura theme odd this month's box had some fabulous things to try that you just wouldn't otherwise see in the UK. I also love that the sister sites ( e.g. nmnl etc) are connected so you can really indulge your Japanese product fantasy! Thoroughly recommended.
Answer: It is one of the worst ones out there. If anything goes wrong they refuse any sort of customer service. No refunds, no placements even if the box never arrives.
Answer: It usually takes days to get a response & only through email. Quite frustrating.
Answer: I had both TokyoTreat and a similar service at the same time, and I consistently found the value and variety of TokyoTreat to be better than the other subscription.
