No one is actually licensed. We hired workmen to do repairs, they stated out good then went steadily downhill
Number 1 to use the Lead Service. It takes about 10 days to 2 weeks just to get online to except Leeds. You have to get past customers to give you reviews and get up to 10 reviews on there before they start giving you leads then the leads that you get some of them don't respond because it's mostly by text or through the app, nothing is on the phone. It's very hard to get a hold of the customer I had the service and I was getting familiar with it and then they cut me off and blamed the reason why it was cut off for another company service. I guess they didn't pay them and they've decided to shut mine down and told me and Tall. This other company has fixed would need to be fixed I would be closed anyone looking for this type of service I would not recommend thumbtack terrible service. You can't get nobody on the phone everything is done by text message. You can't talk to a person it's all done by a computer
My advice to new members is to try another platform. Even though I didn't contact any customer, they took nearly $350 off my credit card. Every time I objected, they didn't respond. A message is sent to my phone. As soon as I open the message, the money is cut off. This is a complete fraud. Finally, credit I had to cancel my card. I can't even block incoming messages like viruses
Disturbed by Orwellian dystopia? This company banned me for no reason after 2 years of me being rated top pro on their platform. I received no warning and was given no chances or explanation. I kept all emails including spam from this business for record, zero emails about this ban. After contacting them and emailing back and forth for days on end, they refuse to tell me why I was banned or re-activate my previously awarded account. I also had over $80 in credits which they didn't repay me. Then they deleted my previous review for being honest about how manipulative and self serving this billion dollar business is. Read other negative reviews, this is common behavior for them. STAY AWAY!
I've been using it for a while and I can honestly say that it is a scam and as a pro takes our money without helping even when leads aren't legit. I swear some leads are fake and then they give you free quotes that either don't respond or they charge you later for it. And when you explain how you are already quoted for that lead they dot listen and give you advice that makes no sense like check you email inbox more. Another complaint is that my leads weren't showing up till they denied me but because they used a certain verbiage they charged even though I had no access to it. Their explanation is I have a phone number. Why would I contact someone who said they didn't want to work with me? Total scam don't use1
I was upset when I fired a pro who kept changing times, days & would always call to say they would be late all last minute. I live by medical appts & the pro knew this. They did not complete a major task and we requested 40.00 back which I've yet to see. I then receive an email stating that "We took your personal information down as you requested" (?) I wrote back that I "never requested this". They never got back to me. This was approx 4 days ago.
So I hire another who Is due today@ 2. They do show on the dot. I like the cleaning.
I could not get back on to reply to people.
The phone system is set up on Fridays to say "we are in training". Live customer chat is a robot. If you want to speak to a live voice you have to set up an appt and check off a day & time to get 1/2 hour of a live voice. I'm also disabled and anyone who is abusive in any way shape or form to disabled person is breaking the law in a big way.

My fingers will be heading in 3 different directions, the bank, BBB & my lawyer.
There's a photo included and I will put more up this afternoon after I **move emails to photos to post**
I'll be putting up more photos of **emails** later after my appt. I would have never let the first service go they were great cleaners and eager to please it was the Grand Master of scheduling who messed up consistently. I called out 1 time for a migraine so bad I was vomiting.
I have cleaners here that are doing fabulous!
I appreciate you!

Here are the facts. I was a pro with them on a trial basis. They made it hard to stop. Impossible
These 2 men are awesome. Their professionalism and the quality work reflect on how Kreuter Enterprise moving company run their business. Their responsiveness is like no other out there. If you want a moving company that care about you and your furniture this is the company you should hire. I will be hiring them again on my next move in 3 weeks. Thanks again. Kevin F Deltona Fl
Thumbtack is a waste of money for professionals looking to get leads. Leads are well over $150, and Thumbtack has done no sort of filtering at all. Some common issues:
1.) Clients are window shopping and not serious
2.) Fake information, wrong city locations, wrong contact information
3.) Clients don't even bother responding
4.) Very bad customer service. (almost impossible to get a refund on these bad leads)
As a 1 person firm, I need to value every dollar that I spend, I do not appreciate their opaque business policies and predatory pricing towards Pros on their website. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere!
They need to review all of the "data mining" some of their pros are doing. That is my biggest issue with it but overall it was a bad experience. There were some positives but it's not worth it.
Sorry gotta start with the Bad:
1. I had my project listed with photos attached and explained in detail but I got constant requests for way too much data before they would even get a quote. There were several others that response was automated and directed you to a site to fill in all of your information and then some.
2. A lot of these pros must be on this site as a last minute resort because their follow up is awful.
3. A lot are not insured
4. They know how to get around being rated for response time because they will respond saying they will call or meet and then just don't show up.
Good
1. They try to let you rate for responsiveness, etc. unfortunately, pros seem to know how to get around these, they may automatically respond just so it shows they replied but they don't show up or call or they claim they did.
2. If they could get it running smoothly and find a better way to monitor "true response time" and "accountability" and prevent their pros from "data mining" or automatically just sending you to "yet another site", it would be huge.
I am a small business owner, and I have no issue paying for leads, however I was being $20 + per lead for customers that were in California and other places, I am based in Tennessee. I literally never recieved a single reply from any customers, after spending $50 on 2 direct leads and countless opportunities where I reached out to customers. I think this might work for handyman or someone doing some kind of side hustle, without a legit "business". But as a business owner, your money is better spent boosting ads on google/socials/etc.
Been on thumbtack 1 month. Have spent more on "leads" than made off them. Charge outrageous amounts for absolutely nothing. I believe they are bots. Most have no response, no answer when you call, no text and never call you back.I asked for refunds. None! If the "lead" is "real" why absolutely nothing? Example: Today. Paid $63 for a "lead" which was sent to 6 different pros. If all paid $63, Thumbtack made $378 in total off one "lead" but say they limit competition. How so? Scam and hiding my business. Will not waste anymore money. Robbing small businesses owners!
I was flat out scammed. The rep called me, very professional, gave me great data when I asked. Told me they had thousands of leads available every month and they would send me multiple per day. Said I had to start by giving them a 300 dollar deposit they could use to cover the leads cost. As soon as I started I noticed that no leads were coming in after I set up my profile completely. I tried contacting them multiple times to see why I wasn't receiving leads, when I spoke to customer service they said they had a total of 17 leads for 17 pros in the area completely different from what I was told and promised, I still have not received one lead and they still are holding my $300 hostage and not refunding me. Currently wasting time and effort trying to get my money back. I've reached out multiple times multiple emails and they will not respond back. Do not do business with this company!
I love the app and the ability to get jobs. But if you need ANY support you might as well not bother. They NEVER answer the phone they NEVER pick up on chat and I don't think they even have email. And as for a refund good luck. I have been billed for "direct leads" that are so far from my job types and for crazy amounts. Sent refund requests and not even the common courtesy to say sorry no refund. Just total ignore. I am not to the point of simply spending my money with Angi, Tasker or one of the other sites. Can't be worse than this. Yesterday I called support on my second phone and was on hold for 4 hours yes 4 and no one ever picked up. I have tried A half dozen times with the same result. Chat is an even bigger joke. Senior leadership must be focused on driving new account set up and can car less about keeping Pros. Sad as a little work on this side and they would win much more in the long run.
Too bad experience with Devon at Thumbtack. She basically forced us to accept a claim made by a lier customer. We sent proof of the service and she didn't care. Closed our account and didn't check how many people were being serviced that day nor the paid leads that just got through.
I dont recommend using thumbtack for PROS if they are not transparent or set up a committee who can take a decision of such caliper as to shutting down an account with a year of history and hundreds of people served. With 4+ stars
Preston and his crew showed up everyday him or his workers very pleased with outcome definitely recommend to anyone thanks Jonathan vadala
Overcharged for the leads. Even if client cancelled on the app or not matching preferences. Not getting respond from customer service. Now they changing $150 minimum on your card for leads. Scammers and thiefs
I was scammed by a content marketer out of 1100 dollars. The red flag = requesting I pay 10,000 dollars for a 1 day only special offer. I requested a refund with their 100% money back guarantee and the "pro" refused. Thumbtacks Trust and Safety person took all my documentation and told me it was my responsibility to research and I should have vetted their pros. They took only the scammers documents and did nothing! BEWARE! Thumbtack is also a scam in my opinion. Lesson learned!
In the same way that their fake pros scam people, Thumbtack also scam by not being truth to their own terms and condition of "Money-back Guarantee". I hope people will find time reading the email conversation I attached here so they see how Thumbtack sided with their "fake" pros and running away from their Money-back guarantee promise.
This is the most awful site to deal with. I had a client that gave me an issue as soon as i went in and her dog bit me. It was a painting project and she did not get primer and she was upset the darker color was soaking through. She contacted thumbtack and they wanted me to give her a refund and i refused due to her failing to provide correct paints. The pros pay for the leads. But they side with customers when it comes down to it home advisor or Angie's list is the best advertising sites.
Answer: Thumbtack does not generate fake requests. When our professionals come to Thumbtack to meet new customers, we know how important it is to receive requests that can help them expand their clientele. We have a lot of customers that come to Thumbtack and hire professionals to help them complete their personal projects. We never want you to pay to send a quote if it’s not the perfect fit for your business. This is why you can view the details of each request before you send a quote and introduce yourself to the customer. James - I’m so sorry that the concerns you’ve brought to our attention haven’t been responded to in an appropriate amount of time, this is never our intention. It's important to us to obsess about answering our customers and professionals questions and concerns within a timely manner. We are a real company that can always be improving. You can read more about our company in reputable sources such as Forbes and the New York Times. If anyone has specific concerns about certain requests you’re receiving, we’d be happy to review them and see how we can help. Feel free to give us a call at (800) 343-1710, we have an amazing support team that is just waiting to talk to you.
Answer: Hi Kay, I’d be happy to answer your questions. When we initially started Thumbtack in 2009, we tried multiple business models. This included a commission based model, but there were some concerns. When professionals didn’t pay for each quote they sent out, there was nothing to stop pros from quoting as much as possible, regardless of if they were the right fit for the job. Paying for each quote encourages better quality quotes and creates a much better experience for customers. Like you mentioned, it’s important for us to get customers to try our site and continue to hire professionals. In the end, pros are paying to promote and advertise themselves to customers that are already actively looking for that particular service. S. G has an amazing point, and Thumbtack is a great introduction site. There’s a lot of potential to expand your clientele, but sometimes it takes some tweaking to your profile and quotes to increase your response rate. The goal is to create a connection through your profile and quote message, and we’re here to help you do this. It’s kind of like sending the customer a virtual portfolio of your experience, achievements, and reviews. I do want to clarify that Thumbtack does not create fake requests, and it goes against everything we value as a company. While Thumbtack may not be the perfect fit for every business, we strongly believe that we can help connect businesses with new customers and foster growth. If you’d like to give us a call at (800) 343-1710, we’d love to give you more personalized help or answer any other concerns you may have.
Answer: We love to see that you’re interested in joining Thumbtack, Grace! Your party planning business sounds like it will be a blast. When it comes to having a license, it's up to each professional to determine what licenses are necessary and follow their local, state and federal laws. I recommend checking with your state to see if a business license is needed for your service. Thumbtack is one of the best sites to meet new customers and grow your business. Robert S. Gave a really good explanation of how we work. You can sign up and receive requests for free, and you only pay us when you send the customer a quote. Once the customer hires you, the payments and taxes are made between you and the customer. This is a great way to connect with the customer and build an extensive referral network. We wish you the best of luck with growing your business. Have an amazing day!
Answer: The reason you had a lull in leads we because thumbtack had a manual action penalty levied against them. If you are not sure what that is you should google search it. The letter you received from Thumbtack regarding this was (as usual) not fully truthful. The letter does not detail the slimy tactics thumbtack used ti enhance google rankings in organic search returns. Do yourself a favor and search this phrase "thumbtack manual action penalty"
Answer: With our recent changes, you're only charged when a customer responds to your quote with interest in working with you. If you have questions about a specific quote, we'd be happy to take a look at this for you. Just send us a message on Facebook with your email address and the customer's name.
Answer: We want to make sure you get the most out of our site and see a return on the investment you've made with us. Please give us a call at (800) 948-2034 when you have time so we can go over your concerns with us.
