I purchased one thing a year ago and then received a $60 membership fee - I didn't sign up to be a member and received no notifications that I would be charged - They think enough people wont notice the $60 charge.
My order was damaged and returned to sender without notification to me. When I called to have order reshipped I was treated very rudely and a supervisor, Lenai, threatened to cancel my membership when I voiced my displeasure.
Placed one order with them before realizing they were going to charge a yearly membership fee for a service I didn't want. They don't provide the normal cancellation options that other websites do, so you have to call. Apparently my request to cancel must have gotten lost since I am still getting charged almost $60, since you have to call by phone there is no good way to show a record of your request to cancel. It's a huge scam and I have filed a transaction dispute with my bank - waiting to see what will happen.
This company charges a "membership fee" in order to buy items from their marketplace. It's a borderline scam, and there is no reason that anyone should have to buy a "membership" in order to purchase goods online.
You better be sure you want to be lifelong member at Thrive Market, because they will not let you cancel your account or delete your payment information to prevent further autobilling. Not to mention, the prices aren't THAT great. I've found better at iHerb.com. Will NEVER use Thrive Market again, and warn everyone that has an interest in health foods to avoid them at all costs.
I am a frequest buyer of Thrive products and have been very happy with everything about them until my last order. They send you e-mails suggesting you may be running out of previous purchased items and would you like to re-order? I said yes, and clicked on 2 items that I order often. Very easy except I received the wrong product. Invoice had the wrong items so they just picked and sent the wrong items. I notified them and it's been over a week and they want me to jump through hoops and take pictures, etc. Pain in my side. Just admit they messed up, issue a return authorization and move on.
Do not ever give any credit card information to Thrive Market. They will screw you over with bogus membership charges to your credit card. This is nothing but a fleecing machine and nobody should ever do business with them
Their free trial automatically adds you to their 49$ yearly membership. You will not receive an email about it since it will go to your spam like many others. To cancel, unlike a normal businesses where you can click cancel on the site, you can only call them.
Very unethical practices to make money by tricking your customers.
But if it's in fine print I guess nothing you did was wrong especially if you have no morals. Your focus should be making a great service not tricking people to paying a yearly fee they never about. Thrive Market are filled with children in adult bodies I swear.
RThrive Market is amazing! There is a packer named Monique Trotter who packed my things very well and she left a smiley face and a hello on the pack slip. I was very impressed by her wrapping as well. Keep up the good work Thrive Market. Monique is amazing!
I I got an email out of the blue from this company a couple weeks ago and both unsubscribed and placed the email in the spam folder. Now today they charged my credit card $59.95 for a yearly subscription. This company is frauding consumers and charging their accounts without their approval.
Where the hell is the Federal government in looking into this crap!
I just found out that Thieve's Market debited my bank account for an annual membership fee. I live in New York State. I never signed up for there service. I called them on the date the charge was still processing. They took my name and SAID they could not find me. They wanted my e-mail address and if they could still not find me they wanted the last 4 of my credit card/debit card. I said no. They said we are talking on a recorded line, that they needed all this information to look up the account. Duh, then what? Renew my membership? With an auto renewal policy no wonder the claim to have som many customers
I signed up as they said it was free. ITS NOT FREE. I wanted to close my "FREE" account and stop receiving their awful emails. I unsubscribed 3 times. Continued getting quite literally the most shameful marketing emails I've ever seen. I contacted the site via their chat feature and was unfortunate enough to speak with STEPHANIE. She literally said, "If you wish not to use our website then don't go to our website." She had no answers, no help, was rude as hell, and provided literally the most pathetic service I've ever received. As of now, they still have my "free" account open as I continue to receive these messages. I'll never use this service, ever.
I purchased a membership with Thrive Market in order to purchase one item they sell. Before I paid for the membership, I was able to purchase 5 units of the item, which qualified for free shipping. The moment I purchased my Thrive membership, the supplier of that item placed a purchase limit of 3 units, which falls $20 short of Thrive's $49 to receive free shipping. I requested that Thrive continue to allow me free shipping until the limit restriction is lifted, but they will not. By having to pay shipping for only 3 units, the cost per unit is raised almost to regular retail price. Very disappointed in this customer service policy.
I filled out a survey saying I was not planning to renew, without realized the company's default is autorenew. By the time I realized I'd already been charged and they're refusing to refund me. Pity, the concept could be great.
Thrive Market is the least user-friendly merchant I have ever dealt with online. They automatically signed me up for an annual membership that I didn't want and won't refund my money. Also, they do not back order items in your order. If they are out of stock, it is up to you to reorder them and hope they arrive and pay your own shipping if you don't have enough items to order for free shipping. NO INTEGRITY.
Buyer beware! I signed up for the "trial membership" 3 years ago. After the first month, I attempted to cancel. 3 years later, my trial month has cost me over $200. Each year, I continue to cancel. They make me feel like my membership has finally been cancelled, only to find my credit card has been billed once again with the yearly membership fee. Canceling my favorite credit card seems to be the only way to get them to stop billing me. DO NOT trust this company!
I never sign up for subscriptions that I don't cancel, therefore it was VERY unclear that this was an annual subscription! They are scamming hot garbage!
F*** THEM!
Received order today with bottle of soy sauce shattered and leaking from the box. Chips burst Looked like a box of garbage for 170 dollars. The first box was damaged and Was not delivered so this was the second one. Offered to reinburse chips and soy sauce. Really you would not be able to charge full price for that in a store. Amazon for me in the future.
Hi Angela- I am so sorry to hear you did not have an awesome experience when ordering with us. I know how exciting it is to receive your Thrive Market order, and I apologize that you could not completely share in that enjoyment.
Please know that a damaged or missing order is unusually rare for us, but we know when it happens to you, it can feel super sub-par. Please check your private messages and we can investigate this issue further!
First, the annual membership fee~ yes, they are quick to charge it. So much that there has been at least two times so far that I was double-charged for a year... because when I had forgotten the password I had used for sign up, I clicked on the option to log in through Facebook (where I use a different e-mail address). You would think since it is under the same mailing address and name that they would have noted that I was already in their system. However, when I notified customer service, they did promptly refund the money from the overcharges both times.
There are many deals to be found, but they don't always have the lowest prices on specific items... so I shop around, and just buy certain items from Thrive consistently.
What makes the membership worth it (in my opinion) is that they regularly offer a bonus item or items with a minimum purchase. The items generally range in price from $12 to $25 or more. So it's a nice way to save on something I like or have wanted to try. However, I have noted that since I first joined about two years ago, they seem to often raise the minimum purchase amount. There was also one time I did not receive the bonus item after making the purchase amount, because they said they had run out. They do warn that there is limited quantity, so now I make sure to order earlier in the day.
I also like the e-mails they send that not only inform you of new/different items, but also include ideas and even video tutorials for healthy recipes you can make. This is what I think makes Thrive stand out from other places that you can shop for these items.
Overall, I think $5 a month is reasonable for what the site offers.
I WISHED THAT I WOULD HAVE READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE I ORDERED. THE SITE WAS ABSOLUTELY WELCOMING TO ORDER FROM. THE PRICES WERE REASONABLE. I KNEW BEFOREHAND THAT THERE WAS A FEE. SO I JOINED FOR 30 DAYS. SO I ORDERED. WELL THE DAY THAT I WAS TO RECEIVE MY GOODIES. I WAITED... AND WAITED... FROM 8:00 A.M., UNTIL 10:00 P.M. STILL NO PACKAGE. CALLED UPS ALL DAY THEY SAID THE DRIVER HAD UNTIL 8:00 P.M. TO DELIVER, 6:00,7:00,8:00,9:00 I CALLED EVERY HOUR TO THE UPS. FINALLY 10:00 THEY SAID THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY WHAT! SO I CONTACTED THRIVE THEY SAID SINCE THE PACKAGE WAS OUT FOR DELIVERY TO GIVE IT ANOTHER 48 HOURS! SO I SAID IT MY CHAT TO THRIVE HA HA. NO THANKS I WOULD NOT EVEN CONSIDER A FREE 30 DAY TRIAL WITH THIS COMPANY. THEY GET YOUR MONEY AND THEN MAKE YOU WAIT FOR YOUR PURCHASES. UNREASONABLE NOT GOOD TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. BUYER BE WARE, WOLF IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING!

Answer: Contact your bank and challenge the charge. I have shopped with Thrive for almost 4 years. This is a glitch in their system. Any issues I have had have been quickly taken care of. Sorry you didn't have the same experience.

Hi there- I apologize that the membership charge was a surprise. As a membership-based company, we offer a 30-day free trial that begins with the first Thrive Market purchase. After the trial, we charge the annual fee for our services, as clearly noted in the policy on the checkout page. We also send trial members an email reminder a few days before the membership is activated, as well as prior to renewal. Members can request to cancel anytime by calling us at 866-419-2174, chatting on our site, or visiting http://thrv.me/HzvsNz.
