I started sending in items over a year ago. Initially, my bags would bring in $30 or $40, and I didn't have to pay for the bag. The payouts started decreasing and my last bag which among other items included 3 pair of designer jeans ( which they notified me sold in the first month) only got me 14.00. I don't feel their online prices are all that great and I've had to return most items I ordered because they didn't fit. And now I see they are charging for the bag, so that ends it for me.

I sent in a bag of clothes stuff full of name brand clothing, talbots, limited, gap, old navy, etc. There was probably 40 items in the bag some with tags still on them, out of everything I sent in they said they kept 12 times. I was paid $12.47, which $9.99 they kept saying it was for the bag they sent me to send in the items. Of the items that were kept and put on their website, they are selling them at a total of $127.00. They are a very greedy company and steal from people. I will continue to bring my clothes to charity and give to the needy instead of helping greedy people fill their pockets. Everyone else should do the same.

I had never heard of consignment or re-sell stores before and when I saw thredup I thought this is a great way to make a little money for clearing out unused clothing and also promoting recycling. I sent them a Motel sequined dress [worn twice] that cost over $100, Levi Jeans, and a few H&M items. I received $3 for my items after waiting well over a month for the items to be reviewed. I couldn't believe it, because they email you the links to how much they are selling the items for online, which is literally like 10+ what they pay you.

I have since started going to a local re-sell boutique [Avalon Exchange which has a few locations in different states] and they are very upfront with the percentage you will receive in cash for your items or the percentage you will get in store credit. For cash you typically receive a 30% of what they will resell the item for, and for store credit, you receive 40% of the re-sell value. You can also split your payment between store credit and cash if something in the store catches your eye. You also aren't obligated to hand over your items after they've been evaluated so you can take your items back if you aren't happy with their cash evaluation. Unlike Thredup who will keep everything you send them if you're unhappy with their $3 [my story] payout.

I love thredup! Have been shopping with them now for about 3 years. They have definitely improved the quality of the clothes they accept and sell since i've started shopping with them, however their low prices have remained the about the same. I almost exclusively shop thredup. The only reason for the one less star is that their customer service can be a little slow to respond sometimes and I wish they offered more promo codes and or a rewards program for frequent shoppers :)

Sent in one bag with 18 items. Took 7 weeks to process and at that, I was awarded $6.30 upfront for six items. Five more are being sold under consignment and if they all sell I will receive about %18 on their list prices. Seven items were not accepted at all -- including two items with tags and two pairs of shoes never worn. Mistakes in the listing for items on sale: a brown sweater is listed as black (even the photo looks brown); a sweater and matching scarf are listed separately (customer service says that their policy is to not list "sets" together); two items on consignment are not listed as having "tags on" and one of those says it's slightly worn with a stain (not when I put it in the bag). Since the immediate pay-out amount is less than the $(. 99 they want to charge me for the clean-out bag, I need to wait for items to sell before I can even use the proceeds to buy. Since you can change the price on consignment items, I'm considering lowering all of the prices and calling it a day. I would never recommend this method of consignment to any friends and would rather have delivered these items to Goodwill for a tax break.

It wasn't until the second bag of clothes was sent in that I realized I was being totally ripped off. Customer service explained that it's a 10/90 split (with them being the 90). Even though I have watched everything they listed sell I won't see any of it until my 10% equals up to the $9.99 bag fee. This means I have to sell about $100 worth of clothing and then I will actually see something in my account for anything over that. Extremely disappointed as many of my items are without defects and still tagged and/or boxed but still listed as 'almost new'. On the flip side, shopping here isn't bad. I just feel guilty for buying anything because I know the seller probably isn't really getting anything. I am going to wait for them to finish scamming me on this second bag and then I am going to close my account. I refuse to participate in a game of 'how much can we steal'. Seriously disappointed because the concept of HELPING people make money sounded fair because they also made money. In reality though, the only ones making money is ThredUp. A total let down. Going back to eBay instead for buying and selling.

Do yourself a favor, and don't bother with this website. I sent them two bags of clothing at two different times, and now they don't have any records of it. After I sent the initial bag, I waited a week or two, checked online, and it indicated that it was received (bag1) and they were in the process of sorting. So, I figured I'll send in another bag, waited a week or two, and checked the website again. This time, it stated they haven't received any items from me (including bag 1). Very annoying. I searched the website for a phone number, email address... anything... with no luck. Seriously, what kind of business provides no contact info...? They want to to message them during certain business hours... ridiculous. If I had the time to hunt down my clothing, checkup on ThredUP to make sure all was processed correctly (or at all... in my case)---I'd just post everything myself on eBay or the like. Try Poshmark or elsewhere. This site is a joke.
