ThredUp's reputation is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, particularly regarding the selling process and customer service. Many users report feeling misled about item valuations and processing times, leading to frustration over perceived exploitation and lack of transparency. September 2, 2017

Ridiculous. They take four items and say they are worth $11 total for all but then sell EACH item for over $30 each. Don't waste your time. Horrible resaler. Waste of time.

DO NOT SELL TO THEM
August 30, 2017

Please be warned. DO NOT SELL to Thred UP. Buy all you want but DO NOT SELL. They give you pennies on the dollar and charge mega fees. My experience as a seller was horrible. I am not bitter... lesson learned. I just want to warn fellow peeps. THIS IS NOT A GOOD COMPANY TO SELL TO. Total rip off! I would give a zero if I could.

When buying clothes from Thread Up, know that what you see is not what you get. I tried to sell an entire bag of mostly designer brands to them based on the brands I saw they accepted on their website and I was incredibly disappointed. First off, the bag itself is $10 which is ridiculous. It took this website 3 FULL MONTHS to review my bag. Then, they will appraise your clothing, even if it still has tags, as worth next to nothing. Basically, don't expect anything more after you send your bag in than a thank you for your donation and maybe $5 in your account. Better off at Plato's closet or donating them.

Very disappointed

Sold my clothes using this app. Sold 10 items for about $15 and all I got was $5. Would never use their service or recommend them. Better donate to charity.

They are horrible! I had a HUGE bag of stuff, some of it was new, they posted about 15 of the items, in which they only gave me. 66 for. And every item they list sold for $10 or more. I am digusted with them.

Shipping failure
August 30, 2017

Many reviews I've read on here are about sending them clothes... mine is about ordering clothes. I ordered 7 nice items on ThredUp, but have yet to receive them. Upon check-out, I chose expedited shipping, so my package would be here in 1-3 days. I am on day 6, and found out this morning, through FedEx tracking, that my package didn't actually ship till 3 days after I ordered, even though I got an email from ThredUp that my package shipped the night I placed it. I paid an additional $12.99 for expedited shipping, and needless to say, I'm not thrilled because a few of the items I ordered were for events that are happening now - and I am without the items.

Started reading these reviews last weekend after wondering why it was taking so long to get my bag processed, and then started to panic. I just received my payout information from Thred up today and I am sad to say they lived up to their horrible reputation. They took 6 items for a total of $8.00, and stuff they didn't take include a brand new pair of Coach flip flops and a kate spade bag. I'm only sorry i didn't research before I sent them anything. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, they are thieves!

I sent in a bag two months ago and after it was finally processed, they accepted 15 of my items for a $7.65 payout. Take the shipping and handling fee out and it was a $2.66 profit. Considering the payout you actually earn from sending clothes in, things are definitely overpriced for things that mostly are not very new. Don't waste your time, stick to a traditional thrift store.

Total Rip Off.
August 26, 2017

These guys are not worth it. The first bag I sent them, I had a feeling there were a few items that apparently weren't accepted, but I know that everything I sent was in amazing condition. Most of the things I've sent them were brand new, even with tags attached. But since I didn't take pictures of the items I sent the first time, I just let it go and decided to try again.

The second clean out bag I made sure to document everything... and boy, was I disappointed. First of all, I sent them a brand new Herschel backpack. It wasn't accepted? REALLY? A almost new America backpack from a very famous brand wouldn't sell? What the hell? Or did someone just decide to keep it for themselves? A rarely worn Madewell jean jacket that sells for $120 on their website... also not accepted? A perfectly fine Madewell pair of jeans. And then of all the incredible pieces I sent them, all in amazing condition, the upfront payout price is $69.85? Come on. A mint Madewell leather tote. A rarely worn incredible Patagonia 3 way winter Coat. New Hunter boots and a few other items and all they pay me is $69? You have got to be kidding me. I will stick to Ebay from now on. Or go some of their competitors. Of all the online resale websites, this has been the worst deal I've ever made. Don't even bother. This is just very, very disappointing

Hard lesson learned
August 26, 2017

My experience is the same as most on here. But not only did I send one but two clean out bags. I believe they got approximately 20 things from the first bag that they could sell and I got about $11.98 for those after the bag fee. My second bag they said the items were a little out of season and they would be put on consignment and I haven't heard anything about those it's been months. Many of the things that I sent where new with tags and name brand which I could have taken to a consignment store and got a hell of a lot more. Don't fall for the Easy Clean Out Bag scam!

Thredup.com SCAM
August 25, 2017

I sent my bag in 2 months ago, to a Georgia location, I live in florida. They told me there was a 2 week processing date (which has long passed) and then they would be sending me an email about the amount. I have received no emails whatsoever. I keep checking online but no updates. It has been 2 months. I should have just given the clothes away like I was planning on. Super disappointed. Will not be sending any more clothing items to them. Not sure if this is a scam or not but they definitely do not have their $#*! together. I do not recommend anyone sending items to ThredUp.

****Update****

They processed my bag after 2 months and after i sent in a complaint. The lady "Candace" claimed that the bag would be processed within a week and that the "bag fee" would be waived. I sent in a bag FULL of baby clothes and womens clothes, most which were practically brand new. Some still had tags on them. They gave a total of $9.06 for 8 of the items. None of which were the new items that had tags. The bag fee was NOT waived and so my total ended up being $2.05 for my items. The bag was filled to the top with clothes, i could have sold them on Facebook and gotten atleast $50. THIS IS A SCAM. DO NOT SEND ITEMS HERE.

Rip off scam.
August 24, 2017

If I could give them a zero star I would. Stay away from Thredup, sent a full bag approx 2 months ago, this morning email says they gave me $3.05 for 6 items, that's not apiece, that's total. Total rip off. Be better off donating to Goodwill or something.

Not a good idea
August 24, 2017

Hey there, people of the internet! I thought the clean up bag was a brilliant idea. Based on the payouts for similar items shown on their site, I thought I could turn my spare clothes into some good money. Nope. About $5-10. On high quality, good condition brand name (Banana, Anthropologie, etc) clothes. You would make more donating your items and taking the tax deduction. Pointless. There are many items I may have kept if I knew I wouldn't get paid much. I feel like I've been robbed :(

Total rip off
August 23, 2017

They made $180; I made $40. Don't be fooled by their marketing techniques. Little did I know until I sent in my "clean out bag" how little I would earn. I received an average of $1 per item for the "upfront" payment; which includes some things that sold for $16.99 - $38.99. I could have made a lot more money at a local consignment shop, and still donated some of the items to Goodwill. I regret doing this, and will never do it again.

They put very low values on your clothes and so they sell fast - and pay you maybe 20%. Sometimes only 10 or 15% They are getting TONS of clothing. They are months behind going through the bags that hopeful sellers send in. DO NOT SEND THEM YOUR GOOD ITEMS unless you just want to be rid of them and don't care for a fair percentage. It's gonna leave you feeling ripped off.

So disappointed
August 22, 2017

I wish I would have checked the reviews before I sent in a huge bag of good clothing, bags and shoes to them. :( I had some good things in that bag, and they gave me $7.43 for it. Then put two of my items on consignment which may yield another $9. I saw one of my skirts with tags and a worn-once dress on their site going for $20 and $27.99. I feel disgusted. I could have given my items away or even sold them for $1 a piece and received more. I didn't pay for the items return or assurance. My loss. Since I have purchased items from thred-up at reasonable prices, I thought for sure I'd get a decent price. I know I'll never send them anything again, but I am considering never buying from them again either.

Don't do it!
August 22, 2017

I had taken about 10 items to a consignment store in town just before moving and they gave me a quote of about $400. As the weeks went by I honestly forgot to go back by and drop them off, and so I sent them off to this company called Threadup after a friend of mine had said they heard of them. Talk about a huge regret. I just received a quote from them saying they're happy to send me my check and thank me for my business. A check that's going to be a total of $51 for 10 items that are all brand name and four of which had tags on them. What a scam

Sell somewhere else you won't get what it really is worth. It's better to donate it to a local charter where it can be a write off.

Did I just get robbed?
August 21, 2017

Do not send your items to ThredUp. After seeing their commercial, I thought... Hmmm, this sounds like a legit opportunity to make a few bucks off all the extra stuff I have in my closet. And with the 10.99 return assurance, I can just have my items returned if I don't feel comfortable with this transaction.

How did it all end? I was forced to accept $41.40 for 22 items with tags attached. That's right, once a quote is given, you will not get your items back. A new GB purse with tags that cost you $60 can be worth $1 if they want it for $1. This company can offer you as little as they want knowing that there is nothing you can do about it. Really? This is just wrong. I'm not asking for more money. Just send my items back to me. Did I just get robbed?
