The sire ( Thredup), has decent finds, but make sure that you want the items! No turning back! I had to GOOGLE how to cancel the order I wanted to cancel because they're lil chat machine didn't find my VERY obvious order number. So I found the answer and after being screened with several answers by the lil robotic chat machine. I was able to email with a request for cancellation, hopefully they will "get the request in time." I do not like that type of hurry up and send before they can cancel type of business. UPDATE: They did cancel my order the same day... process still horrible IMO...

DISHONEST MERCHANT

I ordered (4) dresses from for a total of $108.30 and requested to return (2) of them because the condition was not as described. They sent me a Fedex label and I returned them the same day. The tracking shows the return was delivered 10/26/21 - but I've still not received credit for the return. They have no phone number listed so I emailed multiple times. When I received no response, entered a partial dispute with my credit card company for the amt of the return. Today I learned they actually fought the dispute and sent my credit card company a copy of the original order for 4 dresses without acknowledging the return. Fortunately for me I kept a copy of the original return authorization and tracking number which proves their dishonesty. My credit card company says they may revoke their abiltiy to accept credit cards in the future.

When I go to my merchant account today I see they deleted the order history - both the original purchase and the return, so my account has a blank history. This tells me this is not a reputable merchant and I will not do further business with them.

POOR DESCRIPTION

The descriptions are poor. Two sweaters I purchased had balled material and one was actually dirty. One pair of jeans I purchased were described as bootcut and were a skinny style upon arrival, plus the sizing is off. The sweaters were at the point of becoming rags and I definitely would not consider them to be in excellent condition. I reached out to customer support, which directed me to return them as item not as described, but the site is not user friendly. I could not figure out how to even go about that from orders tab or return tab. This order was a flop! Order#*******... I also tried to attach pictures but could not get them uploaded.

Basically thieves.

If you want to sale your clothes and be a good person who is trying to recycle clothing food for you but don't expect to get a good price for your clothes. Thred Up pays you very little for your own clothing and gives themselves a huge chunk of the cash. It's great if you're buying. Good clothes for a cheaper price. But honestly they're a very greedy business I would not buy or sale anything through them.

Save the trouble

I have bought and sent in items to sell. 1/3 of the items I got I had to send back. Bought 14 and returned 4 because they were completely not what was described. Said silk, was polyester. Wrong size. Broken zippers. Of the 9 I kept 3 we're not as described but still OK. Said new, but was worn, etc.

Now the items I sent in have not been described correctly 50% of the time. I was going to donate anyway so don't care. But 50% if the time the condition or description is just wrong, wrong, wrong. So no trust in there descriptions anymore.

There is also a 4-5 month wait to get anything you send in processed. So if you want to seriously sell I would try something else.

ThredUp accepts items with so much inconsistency that it is impossible to predict what they will accept and what they will "reject." They clearly make a significant profit off the "rejected" items as well but force you to decide in advance whether you will accept their rejections. You will lose (have stolen) valuable items without explanation. Very untrustworthy. Not recommended.

Fraudulent behavior legal action result

Made a purchase of about $1000 that never arrived. The company claimed the address was changed and then not found but it's an actual Post Office (confirmable on google) where FedEx & UPS delivers.
The sector of fedex that they use does not even allow changes so they put he wrong address on the label initially or fraudulently kept my merchandise. I spoke with fedex directly and receive a case number with them as they confirmed and provided documentation of Thredup's fabrications. My shipment was delivered to an address in a city that was not even listed on my account. Thread up then stated they would do nothing about it and recommended speaking with my bank. I've filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, FTC and are filing a police report. It is insane and unacceptable.

I felt like something was up after a few purchases but didn't look into it until WAY too late. I realized in reviewing what I was charged for and what I thought the prices were didn't add up. Then I noticed: I compared the prices on a BUNCH of items I saved in my favorites that I ended up buying. I was charged an extra $3 on most of my items after I'd checked out. There was no reason given for it, the item prices were all just $3 higher than what was listed on the site when I purchased them. The service person said this was a "surcharge" for shipping. This info was 1. Tucked away on a part of the site no one would go to for this information, and 2. Made zero sense anyway. All the listings said that a surcharge was included in the price, there is nothing about additional charges applying. I don't know how this is legal. I used to be thrilled about ThredUp, but they definitely use fraud tactics to make money off of their customers. These extra charges ended up adding up to hundreds of dollars for me. Attached is one example of the price listed versus what I paid, and the note about surcharge. I've liked ThredUp until I learned they did this, but I can't stomach dealing with a dishonest, fraudulent company. Don't support them.

Horrible

I placed an order for the FIRST time after hours and somehow EVEN THOUGH I CHANGED THE SHIPPING ADDRESS PRIOR TO SUBMITTING MY ORDER, The shipping address SOMEHOW reverted back to an address I haven't been at in over two years. Since it was after hours I contacted Thredup RIGHT WHEN THEY OPENED and was connected to a chat in which I explained what happened. I was told that nothing could be done because a label was already printed.And I couldn't cancel the order either even though the item hasn't even left the warehouse yet! I was sent an automated respond to work with USPS to have my mail forwarded and was told to return the item once received. How can I return an item if I'm in a different state? I made it a point to check and change the address to my current address that I have been at over two years and SOMEHOW it still reverted back to my old address. Horrible first purchase and customer service. VERY VERY FRUSTRATED. Never will I order from here again.

False listings of items and their condition, material and wear

Stealing from Goodwill and Sal Val which use the funds from sales for the community. The items bought literally were from there or the bins you see in the parking lots that say that they are -for profit-.

They stink to high heaven of perfume and dirty socks. They do not resemble the photos.

This business is a scam LIke so many online

I sent in a brand new kate spade bag, a toddlers polo sweater and 2 other things and i received $6.31 on a gift Card. They took my items and bought it before even posting to the public. I'm extremely sad as I could have received much more

This is the second bad experience I had. I had been searching everywhere for an outlander dress from hot topic, because the one I had yrs ago, no longer fits it was an xs. They posted a hot topic outlander dress in size 3. That should be about a small which is what I need. What I ACTUALLY received was a torrid outlander dress in a 3XL! Thats not even CLOSE to a 3! Thats 5 sizes bigger than they listed! I complained to the company, and they said I could return it, and I demanded they waive the restocking fee they tried to give me, considering that wasn't my fault whatsoever, and was false advertising. They finally waived it. It took forever to get my refund back. I am not impressed because how do you look at a 3xl dress, and list it as a small!?

Editing my review, because of continuing bad service. The rest of my order was shipped separately, and they sent half of it to an address 2 hours away, and refused to help me, or call fedex. Told me I would only get a refund if whoever receive a refund in 10 to 15 days if WHOEVER RECEIVED MY PACKAGE RETURNS IT! Are you joking me!? I demanded to talk to a manager, and after forever, they said that they would have to continue the chat over email. I flipped out on them, and threatened to file all kinds of complaints, because they are making me pay for THEIR mistake! Finally managed to get a "one time" refund days later from a manager. This place is a bad joke. Only positive is some of the clothes were good when I actually DID get 1 box delivered correctly. A couple stunk like weird perfume, and I don't think they wash the used clothing tbh either, which is gross. Just not impressed. 2 stars because the extra star is for getting a refund on part of it finally.

This company is a total rip off! Sent clothes in to sell, first they lost one of my clean out kits, secondly did not return all my items that were supposed to be return to me. Then I go to reclaim items that didn't sell they are charging 5.99 reclaim fee for each item. No where was it shown anywhere when I sent the cleanout bags that I would be charged for that. I will never use this company again or recommend it total scam.

Saw a used sweater literally forever21 for more than they sell sweaters for. You're asking for twenty dollars for worn clothes, the site is bogus and it's a better use of your time to go to an actual thrift shop and find something you love.

I cleared out my closet and sent in about 50-60 pieces in excellent shape- brands such as Calvin Klein, Anne Klein, Polo, Inc ( Macys) some with tags. Their pay outs are a joke! Some items. 41 cents--YES. 41 Cents! Top item pay out $3.00. I will never consign with them again!

Falsely Advertised an Item

For the most part I've had a positive experience purchasing items through thredUP, but am really disappointed over an item that arrived – which was described as being "in good condition with minor wear on fabric" – having looked like it was run over by a car or bike. Looking closely back at the item as it was pictured on their site, they were able to hide most of these highly visible marks with the jacket's hood, while the other marks are visible only on the underside of the sleeves (so not captured in the photo). I feel this item was falsely advertised and unfairly priced.

I was pretty excited about this idea when my friend told me. I picked out $180 of items and I'd say half of the items fit and look good enough. Nothing I LOVE though. A normal shopping trip for me. Except to return the unwanted items you lose 1.99 per item in "restocking" and also lose the shipping if you want your money back over a store credit. I took the store credit - but I will never buy from them again once I use it up.

WASTED TIME & MONEY

I have ordered from thred up before. My mother has been ordering from them for a very long time& has spent probably thousands! But i placed an order & a week later waiting for it. Then was told i had none! Yet 99.18 was taken out of my acct the day it was placed. Finally they give the order number to me. STILL HAD NOT EVEN BEEN SENT OUT! SPENT HOURS LOOKING FOR WHAT I NEEDED YO GET FOR HER! TO END UP HAVING TO CANCEL DUE TO NOT GETTING NEARLY ON TIME! NOW SHE SAID SHE WILL NO LONGER ORDER THERE. JUST BE VERY CAREFUL. THEY DON'T WASTE TIME TAKING YOUR MONEY AT ALL & U DON'T KNOW U WILL EVER EVEN GET IT.

Unable to contact thredup

Hello,
I just received my order. The kimono pictured below did not come with the belt shown in the picture. Wich is clearly the belt belonging to this item. Also I would not consider the large piece of tape right smack in the front a light wear or stain! What can you do to help me reconcile this, while I try to remove this ironed in tape?
