thredUP Reviews Summary

ThredUp's reputation is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, particularly regarding the selling process and customer service. Many users report feeling misled about item valuations and processing times, leading to frustration over perceived exploitation and lack of transparency. While some customers appreciate the variety of products available for purchase, issues such as delays in shipping, inadequate communication, and poor handling of returns overshadow these positives. Overall, the sentiment leans heavily towards disappointment, prompting many to recommend alternative selling methods and express reluctance to engage further with the company.

Don't sell on this site!
January 16, 2016

I sent my first well-stuffed bag of 14 items for sale. Thought they would be fair in what they would give me considering half of the items still had the tags on them and those 6 alone totaled $400. I got $43 plus the paid $12.99 to ship back the one item they didn't keep. If I had given it more thought and known I would get so little back for my brand-new items, I probably could have taken them back to the retailers and gotten store credits for at least the sale prices of those items. Unfortunately I've already sent in a second bag of items, but never again.

DO NOT SELL TO THEM
January 15, 2016

Very low pay out for designer items. They said they found flaws for brand new items. The only reason they didn't know they were brand new is because the tags were not on them but things were never worn. They also said designer purses that have never been used were dirty. I will never sell to them again. Lesson learned.

Pennies on the dollar
January 9, 2016

This is ridiculous. I wish I'd read other sellers' reviews before sending a bag of clothing to them. I literally got pennies on the dollar for the 8 items they chose to accept. My guess is they are reselling unaccepted items via another source. Do not sell through them. But you would get much more as a tax write off donating and it would be much less frustrating. Have never bought anything through them, so I can't comment on that. Seller beware!

I was ROBBED
January 8, 2016

The worst. I am still not over all the stuff they took from me! I got a $15 payout for a bag full of high quality items. So many things they didn't accept for BS reasons. Do not let them rob you too. Learn from the mistakes of the giant list of sellers who are absolutely disgusted by this company. Amazon should do something about this. Ruining their name...

I sent them 20 shirts, shoes, and dresses. All high quality, barely worn items. One shirt was silk with the tag still on it--$125 dollar shirt! They gave me NOTHING for it and would not return it to me.
Do NOT, do NOT sell stuff to this company. I wouldn't be surprised if they keep the stuff and sell it on the side instead of donating it. If you read the other reviews you will see how they've kept many high dollar and quality items that could easily have been sold. BEWARE!

Rips off seller
January 6, 2016

Please don't sell anything to this company. I wish I would have read these reviews before I sent them anything. Sent them about $500 in clothes and received 25 for that. That's ok I figured better then donating but then I found out that my 1 1/2 coach purse, wallet and my never worn 6 month old leather jacket was supposedly donated because it did not fit there standards. Now I know this company is a scam. Oh well lesson learned and I just hope that's others won't be as stupid thinking that there are still honest businesses people in the US.

RIP OFF
January 6, 2016

I sent clothes they asked for, about twenty items. One was a pair of Aerosols shoes that had never been worn. They didn't want them. Yeah, right. What, they weren't as good as the Mossimo shoes from Target? Two White House, Black Market dresses each worn once to weddings. Nope, they didn't want them, but they loved those dresses from Old Navy. I wish I would have given my stuff to Goodwill. At least it would have been a right off.

Use trusted sites like EBay, Mercari or Poshmark. I sent them hundreds of dollars worth of name
Brand stuff and they gave me pennies. When I asked for my stuff back, they declined and said they keep everything. Unethical company. They do not disclose ahead of time what they will pay, that they keep your items, and that they set up pricing strategies to benefit them over 200%. The pay sellers 10-15% of the price they decide. The they sell if for a higher profit. None of this information is clearly presented when you sign up or submit a request for a bag. You have to search through the website to obtain this information and to read their policies. I'm going straight to BBB to file a complaint. They are unethical, misleading, and downright thieves. I have sold thousands of dollars with Poshmark and their 20 percent commission is well worth it. Don't waste your time, money, and items

I wanted to write from a first time customer perspective. I had a problem with the addresses because the shipment took longer than experienced and I had moved out of my old place. The customer service rep (Fernando) stepped up and fixed the problem. I shall definitely purchase from them again!

I sent in (through a contractor) a Michael Kors purse, a Louis Vuitton port folio, and several coach purses. I also sent in clothing. I got $1. They said the purses were "stained and had an odor." Seriously. I'm not finished with this process--because they simply cannot continue to do this to people, but DO NOT SEND THEM ANYTHING. They will rip you off.
