I bought 3 bags on website. All went well. Bags arrived successfully, loved them. 2 weeks later I got another package from The Real Real, with a pair of 38 sized Prada shoes that I did not order or pay for. In the box was the invoice my original purchase 2 weeks earlier. I called TRR and sat on hold for 3o miniutes, then explained the situation to the customer svc person, and he could not understand. Finally I was told he would send me a return label. I never received it. I sent 5 emails to TRR about it and NEVER got a response.
Received an email specifically stating a representative was coming to my town. I invited a few friends, with good resale clothes, to come meet the Real Real rep and consign. I then receive a second email stating the first email was computer generated. My only option was a virtual meeting with a real real rep and she didn't handle new clients. Rude
The condition of a top I purchased was not clearly pointed out in the online listing. I called to discuss this with customer service and was happy with the rep's response, so I am pleased with how The RealReal handled the process. Returning an item involves time & expense along with disappointed expectations. Thorough descriptions of the clothing description matter ie: condition issues, care instructions. These are important when purchasing clothing.
I am a loyal customer and a repeat customer. I am completely satisfied with my purchases. There is so much to choose from. And the prices are reasonable. I have recommended friends, family and colleagues to The RealReal. Keep bringing the fashion!
The items in my order were fairly priced, as described, and generally in good shape, except that so many items were smashed into one packing box that everything was wrinkled. Not one sheet of tissue paper. One RealReal drawstring bag for the clothes, and one for a pair of sunglasses (which arrived with no case). The packing used to be really nice and items arrived in excellent shape. This just looked sloppy. When I packed the box to return things I felt bad smashing it all in to that one small box, but they request that we reuse original packing...
I'm shocked that TRR could sell a wool sweater that had been washed in hot water and clearly shrunk significantly. I'm not talking about a wash in cold water, this was so much smaller than a regular "small" that my arms wouldn't fit and once in, I couldn't sit straight! What kind of quality control is this place running? I am a size 2 and could have probably fit into an XS had it been new but this was clearly damaged.
Here's the kicker: when I returned, I DIDNT GET ALL OF MY MONEY BACK! They charged me a restocking and shipping fee. I was (and still am) furious. I called the company and the line was so busy that I opted for them to call me back… which they did three hours later and I couldn't pick it up. Buyer beware.
Love finding unique fashion items. Items are checked for quality and all notes are in the item description. Very accurate.
I've been buying from TRR for 4-5 years, and have found some great pieces on it for reasonable prices. Unfortunately though descriptions can be incorrect, which has resulted in some pleasant surprises for me (seller probably lost out when cashmere was labelled as wool), and some not so pleasant - "with tags" just meant that they'd attached the original sale tags to the fairly worn garment. In particular, I no longer buy knitwear having had 2/3 items arrive with small holes in them. Clearly hadn't been checked carefully. Overall though some of my favourite items are from this site, shipping is fast, even if expensive for a foreign purchaser.
The Real Real has a fantastic range but their quality control is terrible. Items more often than not arrive and are either not as described (wrong size/ colour etc) or in a poor condition compared to what they are advertised as. The customer service is very good - they promptly reply and help you return the item which is great but the whole process takes ages and is frustrating when you've needed an item for an event or trip.
Ordered a Tiffany heart earrings and have never received. Now to go they the hassle of challenging the credit card charge... ugh
The jumpsuit arrived with a button missing, the glasses had marks all over the lenses. Not impressed
Your people working at price establishing of clothing are amateurs. They don't know what they are doing. Sloppy in their work.
Also the charging for shipping and returning is crazy. Get with the times like net a porter, saks, and every other merchandiser.
Annoyed I keep getting emails to review. I've gotten an email everyday for weeks, and so now I am writing this review. 1 email should be all you send out.
I have purchased Shoes that I can not return, only consign. On the photo shoes are completely white and matt, sort of hard leathery look. And I've got silver shiny foily looking shoes. Total shock. Was it hard to make photo of actual look and color?

I purchased size 7 shoes however they were more like size 6 and their was no mention that sizes run small. Since these shoes were already discounted I could not return them

This is a review for my first experience selling to the Real Real. I buy from them quite frequently and am overall happy with that experience. For that reason, I thought I would consign designer goods to them as well. I sent 20 items in. All 19 were either posted or returned but one item, a Céline purse, was received, but there has been no progress. It's been nearly 2 months. The team helping me stays in regular contact but has evidently had trouble reaching another department that has the purse and that's why it's taking so long to locate it. At this point, I don't know if my purse will ever be found. Please consider my experience before selling to the Real Real.
The agent was attentive and helpful.
However the selling of Very Old bag with wholes that smelled bad is UNACCEPTABLE. It also had the initial price of $495.

Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!

Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
