Have sold over $50,000 in merchandise at TRR. Sometimes they mark down the item as soon as it's listed and never ask if that's ok. They are more interested in making their money than what the consigner would like.
The turn around time is 24 hours per question.
I provided the original order with my initial request the response was asking for me to provide the info from the original order. I provided it again and requested contact the original owner to obtain the code of the suitcase. The response was for me to try the code from the listing. When I advised it was already tried and didn't work and I was on holiday with presents in my case I was then advised to find a local company in a unfamiliar city and leave my case with them and I would be reimbursed. This took days and by the time I was told to do this I was flying home again
I buy 80% of my clothing and shoes from The RealReal. Prompt and helpful service with great attention to detail
Like the service over all but have problem with the size
I am so happy to have found The Real Real. It's like buying a certified used car but for clothes, shoes, handbags, etc. I have made countless purchases and have not had a single problem. When I have had to return something the process was effortless. The customer service is top notch! I also think about the recycling efforts, not paying full price, and just the sheer genius of this concept and feel that it is an absolute win-win. This is NOT your low level resale sight although there are bargains galore! Some things are still really expensive ( think Birkin bags) but I bought a St. John knit skirt for $30 and a full size leather Louis Vuitton wallet for $250…both items in pristine condition. My one and only consignment go-to.
Because pictures aren't always great and because all clothes are made differently, you pay for the clothes just to look at/ feel them and try them on, which I have no real issue with. However, it's rather expensive to try them on since you're paying 11.95 to have them shipped and another 11.95 if they don't work out and you have to send them back. Almost $24 just to try something on? That's a bit excessive.
I've been very happy with my orders from this site. I particularly like the jewelry and handbags. Great products for fantastic value. And it's good for the environment! Everyone benefits!
My items I returned were put up for consignment and I have never been able to find someone to correct the problem. Owed over $700. These items were not sale items. RR lousy at fixing problems. Horrible in fact. This isn't the only one just the one that bothers me the most.
Hats have inconsistent or absent sizing. Products take way too long to be delivered. Search functions won't allow you to add to a search query instead it forces you to start all over. Algorithms are not intuitive and often feed me suggestions that have very little to do with my search preferences. Searching by materials (leather/suede/knit etc.) produce rudimentary results.
The items have always been exactly as described and delivered promptly. 9
My husband purchased a Chanel boy shopper which I picked out for my Christmas present. It was a final sale. I was disappointed because the real real did not disclose that on one of the handles the leather was coming off. I own several authentic Chanel bags that I purchased new and I've had for many years. I have never had the leather come off of the purse. It makes me question the authenticity of the bag.
I sent in a pair of David Yurman topaz earrings for consignment and they lost/misplaced the earrings and never responded to my request to reimburse me for my consignment. I have written customer service three times since May and I just keep getting a generic response that they received my email. BEWARE OF SENDIND ITEMS FOR CONSIGNMENT.
I love the experience in selling and buying at The RealReal. Great products, great customer service. All around my favorite place to sell items and buy myself great quality clothing and some household items and beauty products.
So trying to buy a handbags at web site but keep saying my credit card it's declined but I do t have money but I did try using affirm. Com I was aproves but still saying credit card declined makes no sense
So I tried another item but same response costumer service had not reply me yet
Returns are very difficult. They no longer have customer service representatives available to talk to so they force you to communicate through text with a machine that has limited responses. The website may claim the full price item is good quality but then it is poor condition quality and you can not return it.
The Real Real routinely sends out items that are damaged, have holes, are missing parts or are broken, yet the condition is listed as "Excellent. No visible signs of wear." There are several problems with this. First, it's dishonest. TRR wouldn't last 5 minutes on ebay. Second, the customer service reps will blithely assure you that you can always return the item. Hello? There's a frigging pandemic going on! Third, and the worst part, when you alert them to the hole, the damage, the broken parts, the missing pieces, the items they said would be included but weren't, etc., that were not disclosed, they'll relist w/o noting the damage you've taken so long to tell them about, so some other poor sucker will buy it. Case in point: I recently returned something with a clasp that wouldn't stay closed. I called, explained the problem, and put a note in the box. No point in a clasp that doesn't work! TRR got the item yesterday, on a Sunday, immediately relisted it using the same "Excellent. No signs of wear." description. So, since they KNOW there's a problem, at this point, their behavior isn't so much "dishonest" as out-and-out fraudulent. And it has happened over and over and over. Buttons missing, the jacket is one size but the skirt is another (and it's marked!), torn pant legs, moth holes, not a "dust bag" but a wadded up dirty T-shirt... I bet I've returned at least 25% of the things I've bought on the site during the past year; 20 years on ebay, and I've returned 2 or 3 things, max.
Of course, when it works, it works. But it doesn't "work" all too often. My suggestion is to immediately and minutely examine any item you get from this site. Know that they don't disclose damage/flaws, so be alert. "Light wear on a sleeve" is not the same as EIGHT MOTH HOLES.
Don't bs around with texting. The phone # is *******893; press 1.

Aggressive, unpleasant and ugly customer support.
I never sing up for any mails from them and was asking to be removed from list. I never have account with them and seem like they just bought mailing lists to SPAM people.
Instead of removing my address they push me to have account first to be removed then.
Is it stupid? Or what?
If you won't have your mail box full of SPAM never ever deal with them!
Hi Joe, we'd be more than happy to remove you from our mailing list. Please DM us on social media with your email address so we can assist.
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Please feel free to reach out to us if this does not answer your questions or if you feel that the explanations provided were not applicable to your situation. You can reach out to our Customer Service Department at (855) 435 5893 from 8am to 5pm (PST). If you would like to speak to a supervisor directly, please feel free to ask for Caitlin from our NJ office. She is available from 9am to 6pm (EST) and of course you can reach us via email at: [email protected].
Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,
Answer: Hello, We are sorry to hear of your concerns. If you can please send us your order number or email address we will happily research this further.
Answer: Hi Frank, Thank you for reaching out. We apologize you have seen more negative than positive reviews. We would be pleased to advise you on our consignment process and share a little more insight about the RealReal.
Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
Answer: I have returned things with no hassle at all.
