Many items are not well evaluated and described and may not at all match the photo and description of item. Wrong altogether and frustrating.
Some mens items are not well noted as being mens specifically in shoes and it causes a problem when not clearly noted in the descriptions.
If you want fast customer service and service without any run around this isn't for you. It also takes awhile to receive your credits or commissions but if you're not in a rush it's okay. They have said things I've sent are not authentic when they are and they're descriptions have been inaccurate on items I have purchased. It should probably be a two or three star but I feel bad doing that so I'm putting a four star for courtesy because I hope they learn that. Courtesy.
I have received items that I immediate need to take to the dry cleaners with obvious stains. Items should be clean when they are accepted as a resale item. It's disgusting!
Every time that I'm looking for something special to treat myself I know that I will find it in the Realreal website.

The purchases I have made on the Real Real have been amazing! So happy with them and I'm especially excited to see a store opening up in my neighborhood! Their are excellent at curating and I can't wait to see what they display!
I've ordered from The RealReal a few times now. Like all online shopping, it's hit & miss with clothing & shoes. But I love fashion & don't always have the budget to buy new.
I'd use their website more if the shipping rates didn't START at $12.00 and if your order doesn't fit, YOU pay to ship it back.
While I realize shipping is a genuine cost of doing business, I'd encourage RealReal to have tiered shipping rates that start lower & rethink their "you pay to return items you don't want" policy. Case in point - I ordered shoes that were mismarked on their website (size 9 shoes, sold as size 6). Not my fault. I had to cover shipping costs to send them back. That's just not right.
I've been a TRR buyer and seller since 2013. I bought stock when the company went public. I've met Julie Wainwright while shopping at Barneys in Beverly Hills. I used to love being a TRR buyer and seller. But unfortunately, the overall quality of customer service and accuracy of product listings have significantly declined recently, Several recent purchases have had incorrect measurements and not accuracy disclosed product flaws or wear. Customer service via texting is awful. Plus the offshore customer service representatives have no authority to do anything without a lengthy check with their supervisors first. My recent experience as a consignor has also declined. Pricing and item descriptions are often horribly off-base and require calls to Consignor Relations for corrections.
I know TRR is growing fast and cutting costs to become more profitable, but TRR should be careful not to lose what was special and wonderful about buying and selling on the site. There are many new online consignment companies that are offering better buyer and seller experiences.
Two Stars instead of one because my issue was ultimately resolved. HOWEVER... it literally took 3 days of texting with 3 different agents to get a relatively simple issue fixed. It was so incredibly frustrating and time consuming. There must be a better way of doing this...
I love shopping and selling at The Real Real, the only thing I really don't like is that the shipping fees are high, and if a customer is spending over a certain amount, shipping should be free. Additionally, they do not provide enough shipping options like express, overnight, etc. Other than that, the brand selections are amazing!
Generally the experience with RealReal has been enjoyable. I wished they would have an option to filter for condition of an item (i. E., excellent, very good, good etc). That would make the time on the site more efficient for me.
I cannot not say enough positive things about TRR. Though home is where I stay most of the time. My present "lounge wear", collection is as nice as the clothes I leave my house in. I always get great deals and it is guiltless shopping since I use my credits from consignments I have sold.
They are so well packed. Beautiful and can't wait to hang them this coming Christmas year.
Only comment was I ordered 5 different colors and 2 are exactly the same.
There is no phone number to talk to a customer rep to report an issue with the product shipped.
The only option is texting and I found that to take an immense amount of time having to repeat the same thing over and over to different people responding to the message from time to time. Always someone new picking up the message. Very frustrating experience.
Dress arrived defective… the straps are completely different lengths! Now I understand why its a no return… thats not fair!
I had to email TRR CS twice to get an idea when they are shipping my order. Even to this day, I have not received my order. It is suppose to come today via UPS.
Unfortunately the description wasn't mentioning the items were drastically alterated and not fitting me at all. As I already own these exact same pants, purchased in store, I can assuredly say so.
The tie I purchased looks brand new and arrived promptly. I will be purchasing more items from The RealReal.
I was a fan of RealReal over the past year and have spend a lot of money on their clothing, which until recently were excellent. The most recent orders I placed - during the Holiday season of 2021 were terrible. There was a beautiful Versace dress which actually had ugly cigarette burns on it which had melted the fabric. These burns were not mentioned in the description nor shown in the photo. Other items had actual deodorant and sweat stains on the armpits, also not mentioned in the description. Another shirt was advertised as plain black and showed as plain black in the description, but it had an ugly embossed pattern on it which was not visible or mentioned and only showed up when I opened the box. The items I purchase in early and mid-2021 were excellent; what happened to your quality control since then?
The purchases were Christmas presents and everyone was not only surprised but absolutely loved their presents. Real Real has great items and great prices.
I have no idea where the Tiffany gold and Jade necklace I sent to TRR for consignment on 12/24/21 is. I have asked and was told to "wait". Yet the Cartier ring in the same shipment is listed on the site yet not included in my consigned items. Your quality control is abysmal.
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!

Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
