The RR makes returns very difficult and they no longer have a real person to answer the customer service phone calls. If you Buy an item that the RR claims is in very good or excellent condition and when you receive the item, it is not in very good condition, it is very difficult to return it if it is on sale. The customer service phone number is only a recording and then they have you text another number a customer service representative is supposed to text you back but this can take a day or two or three. If the representative texts you back in the middle of the night and you don't text back immediately, the representative closes the case And you have to start the whole process over again. I would not buy a handbag or purse from this website because the RR does not accept returns on handbags. Since the RR doesn't accept returns in handbags, the website tends to say the handbags are in better quality than they are because they know you're stuck with it. Even if you complain to your credit card company and dispute the charge, the RR in rare cases will give you a site credit but you won't get your money back. I used to like this site when it had actual people handling the customer service phone calls, but now I do not recommend the site because if the handbags or products you buy are not in good condition or it is s different color than the website advertised, you won't get your money back.
I started an electronic conversation several times with reps asking for my $80 promotional credit- which was only 2 days expired. Each time I had to wait so long that I gave up. I finally did reach someone who told me I was in the wrong department for this question (who knew there are different departments for electronic conversations?) so he said he would transfer me which didn't happen. I gave up. I gave up on a second issue also. I received a dress that I paid expedited shipping for and the size was mis-marked. It was listed on-line as a "S" but when it came it was and "8." I again started an electronic conversation asking for a credit of the shipping since there was an error on your end. Again I couldn't get a response/resolution on the conversation, so I gave up. I love the Real Real and buy often from you, but wish it was easier to reach customer service. Also, at the point I've given up on $110 that I think I deserve. Thanks for listening!

I have been shopping with The Real Real for 5 years, and while I am not necessarily a big spender, I do buy regularly throughout the year. I have been allowed to return items, but this time, I was told I had to consign a few items rather than return. I tried calling your customer service number and was told to text, but the text didn't appear to go anywhere. I was called by one of your consignment specialists, but when I asked for help with returning, she never responded.
This experience has led me to consider never buying from The Real Real again.
I called with an issue. Got a recording that told me to text "hello" to some random number. Got a response 6 HOURS later and the person I spoke with knew absolutely nothing. Texting back and forth with her for 45 minutes only for her NOT to solve my issue. Worst customer service ever!
I purchased two sweaters for Christmas. One was too small but the return was past 21 days. I wrote to see if I could get an extension as the sweater was still tagged and had never been worn. I received a reply email asking for more information and I responded with the details but the woman who had emailed me never responded to my email. The ghosting was obvious. So, I've sent the sweater back and listed it for sale which I'm sure will cost me at least $150 (purchased for $190). I didn't expect that the company would extend the 21 day return policy but I DID expect to receive a response.

Everything on The RealReal's site is photographed well so you know what you are buying. The description and detailed appraisal are also key to confidence in online purchases. The processing time is lightning fast and then the items are shipped priority and arrive in a few days. Most importantly, I think their prices are fair to both the buyer and the consigned seller and everything is in impeccable shape. I used to purchase couture and jewelry on eBay but the items are all over the place in terms of quality and price. I would hold my breath until the item arrived and I would know if I had been duped or pleasantly surprised. The RealReal has restored my trust in online shopping and is now my forever go-to site.
The RealReal sent my item out immediately. It was just as described and I can't be happier with my purchase. Trust this company to always provide excellent service and products. Keep up the great work!

Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!

Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
