I purchased a bag that was a final sale item but there was a major defect that wasn't disclosed in the description or photos. There is writing on the lining of the bag in black magic marker that ruins the purchase for me. It's been 6 days since I emailed customer service with my order number and photos showing the damages, but there hasn't been any response other than an auto generated 'we received your email' message. It was my first time shopping with TheRealReal and I'm very disappointed in this purchase and this company. Really upset about losing several hundred dollars.
The tags were ripped off the earrings I bought; there was a separate card saying if the tags were ripped off the item could not be returned. Also, there was nothing with the item that showed the appraisal that was included with the item on the site. I like the earrings and plan to keep them but I have no idea if they were misrepresented or not and of course, per the tag, they are not returnable since they ripped the tags off in advance.
Real real used to be a great company. The bigger they got the worse their service got. Honestly, I'm shocked at how horrible the service is. There are no reps available to assist unless you literally email every email account you have access too. The consignment department is horrible. They are careless I revived my shoes back damaged and claiming it was like that. They mark down you items just to sell and make money. Please save you time energy and money. I There are more websites out there just need to do research. I have had good experience with two girls, who honestly are trying to help me but doesn't matter their consignment department needs work. Maybe they are understaffed over worked, not sure what it is but they should be able to hire more professional staff to assist customers. At the end of the day, they are around because of people like you and I.
I brought 5 pair of shoes on February to Brentwood location. They gave me " funny " prices: for an example: for almost new shoes for 1800$ They offered 500$ total: 100$ to me …store commission 400$! What!? Ok, I decided to cancel this operation and., it's a may! They still didn't sent it back! They didn't return my iteams, they just hold it on facility! I tried to reach them but nothing … I need to wait 4 th month for my stuff. So disappointed! Terrible experience, awful company
Hello
I consigned numerous high priced designer items just to learn that half of them were priced wrong and mislabeled. The consignment customer service team is difficult to get hold of and don't answer emails. After many months I am still waiting for my money. Complete nightmare
After much reIuctance and hesitation I placed an order for 3 sweaters. Two promptly arrived - I have no idea where the third sweater is and one of the two that arrived was the wrong size. The size was not the same as what was advertised. I've spent over an hour trying to work out a return and trying to find where sweater #3 is. Not a pleasant transaction.
Do Not trust this place with your diamond rings! They lost one of my rings that was a wedding set. Listed one of the rings and took them months just to do that, and the other one is gone. These rings were valued at over $15,000.00. I will be filing suit against them!
Purchased item of jewelry from RealReal and was not pleased with quality and returned it immediately. Kept waiting for a credit to my card and after two weeks I called to inquire and was told they would take care of it. Still didn't receive credit and called again, and again. I finally had to file a fraud action with by bank to get my credit. It should not take a month to receive a credit from a company.
Lost faith after my first purchase - YOU HID THE BALL WELL. Congrats. Enjoy my money. NEVER BUYING AGAIN. You can't be trusted. If you sell a monogrammed or engraved item with someone else's name - you can't bury that fact!
They assign you a concierge, who meets with you and seems lovely and tells you everything takes 2 to 3 weeks. I handover about $20,000 in merchandise to her, and now almost 7 weeks later, most of the material still has not appeared on the website. They sold a pair of shoes, brand new, that retails for $545 and had clearly never been worn, for $125. My take of that was $50. Not impressed
The description of the items is not always true and if you order the item and it doesn't fit. You are stuck with it, if they say no refund and the want you to consign it so they can take more many from you. A lost for you but a win for them. It's not worth the headache. I will not be doing any more business with the real real Liars, Fakes and Frauds!
If you want a reseller to lose two high end bags on two separate consignments(what are the odds) take months to list your items even though they say VIP consigner's items are listed in 2-3 weeks and be put on hold for 30 minutes or more when you have an issue with the price or description of your items then The RealReal is for you. Worse customer service ever. I think they forgot without consignments they have no business!
The only complaint I have about therealreal is the shipping cost, which is why I gave four stars, otherwise it has been a positive experience for me. I consigned six or eight items, all of which sold, and payment was prompt and when they said it would be, and the commission spot on. I love how they make it so easy to send items in. You have to really pay attention to the descriptions and get to know the brand you are buying. Everything I have bought from them was in superb condition. I appreciate this website because otherwise I would never be able to afford high-end brands. Lately I noticed the prices for Chanel have gone way up, but then Chanel itself doubled their prices across the board... so guess it's a trickle-down effect. An addicting site. <3 <3 <3
This company won't be around long. The Real Real is to thank for what is by far the worst consumer experience I've ever had. The employees aren't knowledgeable nor are they responsive. I left a very significant amount of high end clothing that was in immaculate condition with TRR only to see it listed and sold for a fraction of what other sites had the same pieces going for. When I say a fraction I mean it. They sold a coat I gave them that was $7,0000 new and absolutely pristine for less than $600.00 (leaving me with less than $300) after their commission. I can provide four other examples that are at least as bad as this one.
Their rep who came to my home to pick up the items led me to believe that I'd have an opportunity to approve their pricing before the listings went live and that if I wanted to bring anything back if I didn't agree I could do so easily and at no cost to me. Completely inaccurate info. Thank you Taylor. The icing on the cake is that absolutely nobody is available once you try and reach out to them. Four weeks passed with emails that weren't returned, texts via their "chat" that go unanswered, etc.
I had very realistic and pretty modest expectations going into this and really feel as though I've been badly taken advantage of. I'll survive but hope this helps the next "victim" of theirs to avoid the same fate. If anyone needs any confirmation of this experience I'll gladly provide it.
A luxury manager, Vickie Gilbert came to my house on March 3,2022. She took pictures and gathered 3 large bags to go back to the Real Real warehouse to be vetted and sold. The womens' clothes/bags were sorted through and were put up for sale or sent back in a timely fashion in about 2 weeks. However, all the mens' clothes including 2 Burberry coats, 3 new dress shirts, 2 new designer ties including Dior and YSL never showed up on on my account. I kept asking and calling and they said that it may take longer for those items to show up on my account. I had called The Real Real customer service more than 10 times and about 3 weeks ago, they said they were opening a case and will let me know. No one did so when I called again, they said the items were never received! Your representative took the items from my house! I would think twice about doing business with the Real Real given what happened! I am still calling with no resolution!
The Real Real is a fraudulent business. They lost a whole box from my consignment, 31 items. Their agent tried to track it down, I have emails where he admits they lost it. Thousands of dollars worth of stuff.
And guess what? They've been blowing me off for weeks, no reimbursement, nothing.
I'm retaining an attorney to get something back, but be warned.
This is a fraudulent business, they steal from the consigners and do not even try to make things right.
I purchased e-gift cards which over 24 hours later I still haven't received them. No one answers in their customer service. The phone re-routes you to their chat option and hangs up. I have yet to get a hold of someone to get my money (e-gift cards). This is absolutely a disgrace and a scam.
I'll never do business with this site again, poor service. Purchase an item never used it and when I consigned it back they charged 70% commission.
First consignment. Last consignment. Never again. The real real is probably not a bad place to buy but DEFINITELY the worst place to sell your designer clothes. Remember! You get only 30% of the sale. LOL. Wow. My advice to you: DON'T. JUST DONT'T.
Ah yeah. Almost forgot. Once you click that "consign" button - they will be hunting you down! Everyday! Phone calls and text messages to make you do it!
The real real lost my consignment item and their consignment services team has not gotten back to me after repeated delays and promises.
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Please feel free to reach out to us if this does not answer your questions or if you feel that the explanations provided were not applicable to your situation. You can reach out to our Customer Service Department at (855) 435 5893 from 8am to 5pm (PST). If you would like to speak to a supervisor directly, please feel free to ask for Caitlin from our NJ office. She is available from 9am to 6pm (EST) and of course you can reach us via email at: [email protected].
Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,
Answer: Hello, We are sorry to hear of your concerns. If you can please send us your order number or email address we will happily research this further.
Answer: Hi Frank, Thank you for reaching out. We apologize you have seen more negative than positive reviews. We would be pleased to advise you on our consignment process and share a little more insight about the RealReal.
Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
Answer: I have returned things with no hassle at all.
