So far I am 1 for 4. I have ordered four items and only one of them has been worth the money and wearable. The watch I ordered was barely intact and had to have a new strap and repairs on the dial (rating was "excellent"). I ordered 3 pairs of shoes: one pair was stretched badly so I returned them ("excellent" rating). Another pair of shoes had destroyed heel tips and the nails would not come out and by the time the shoemaker/shoe repair store worked on them they were NOT RETURNABLE and also NOT WEARABLE (also an "excellent" rating). The other pair of shoes were ridiculously worn ("good" rating) so I immediately returned those shoes. There was one pair of glorious Prada shoes that I kept with no complaints and no regrets.
My advice is: Just save your money and buy this stuff NEW.
I didn't like what I purchased and they pretty much told me to bad I'm stuck with it. I will never shop or recommend anyone to this store!
Doing business with their customer support was a breeze they answer you in
A timely fashion and once your item is sold payment is quick and easy. Would
Recommend them to anyone.
Thanks to the Real Real I am able to buy designer clothes which I otherwise would never be able to afford. The clothes always look brand new, and the descriptions as to length and fabric are really helpful when deciding what to buy. My one criticism is that shipping to Australia is so expensive, but for the clothes they offer it's worth it!
I've made 3-4 purchases on TRR and every single time I've been beyond satisfied. Shipping is lightning fast and is very reasonable for what shopping typically costs. Items have always been authentic as TRR has a team of authenticators. Items are also sold for about the same as they sell for on eBay and TRR does not carry any of the junk-quality items sold elsewhere online. I would not hesitate to buy any item on TRR. This site is a GIFT to the Internet.
I just made my first purchase from TRR all I could say is OMG!
Love my Gucci, my husband's jaw dropped and he asked me why did the previous owner of the boots sold it
Price was unbelievable, it was like new
Perfect color, perfect fit
I am in love with TRR just wish my affirm account works I paid in full for my boots and
I wanted to make more purchases using affirm but for some reason is not letting me
People please disregard all these bad reviews and treat yourself with TRR goodies

After I ordered I looked at these reviews and became incredibly nervous. After I received my merch I then honestly wondered how many of the "bad" reviews were from people who got paid for it. I have received 4 orders in the last couple of weeks: two Kate Spade purses, DVF Top, and Jimmy Choos. Every single piece has been authenticated and in the exact condition the description stated. As in every site - look at every picture, zoom in, and ask questions.
I bought 4 items. 4 with measurements problems and one really damaged with hole on the collar and Therealreal was and still selling this item "very good"! I can believe it!
The last item I bought had a wrong size! Not 10 but 6 (after measurements at home) and is not returnable because final sale! Absolutely no professional people with no idea what means Fashion!
I have been looking for a handbag on TheRealReal. So I found that some bags which have been priced reasonably, have been sold before been listed on the web. Perhaps they were purchased by the employs and resold later. Or other bags are offered for a very high prices and stay on the web-site forever.
I have been shopping and selling on The RealReal for the past seven years. Everything arrives in new condition and the service is great. I recently had a problem with an expensive piece of jewelry and The RealReal stood behind it 100%. Very pleased with their service and their staff. It' s a business you can trust.
After I placed an order, I received a confirmation email stating the order would ship shortly thereafter; however, the following day I received a second email stating that my order had been canceled without any notification as to why. I had to call 3 times and send an email (which was never responded to) to be adived some ridiculous explanation that I had used another email address in the past which was against their (unwritten) policy. Completely horrible customer service for a 'luxury' consignment company. I expected better and will save my money for a more reputable company that cares about their customers
Couple of weeks ago I've decided to buy my first 2nd hand shoes at a consignment website. Due to tons of prositive reviews on YouTube about TheRealReal, I chose this website to get my 2nd hand Jimmy Choo heels. And that was a mistake! I paid $130 for a Jimmy Choo heels in good condition but all the original materials of the shoes were fake. They patched everything to make it all looked legit but you can obviously see that it wasn't TheRealReal deal :(. I wasn't able to see it on their website but when I got it... oh no girl it was super fake! I didn't decide to return it because it was a good shoes but not a Jimmy Choo good shoes. You know what people say, if it is too good to be true then it is fake!
Be aware, not all items are authentic!
I wanted to purchase a LV bag. I did my research and noticed the RealReal's product specifications/measurements did not match the actual product from LV site, for the *same specific* model listed. I emailed them to state the discrepancy, seek confirmation on authenticity and confirm the measurements. But customer service told me they "currently don't supportsuch questions and inquiries". The rep also suggested I buy the item and then email them if there is a discrepancy! Insulting as I already described the existing discrepancy, so why would I make a purchase when I have doubts about the authenticity.
I will not spend thousands on a website that does shady business and does not provide customer support.
I received my first purchase today. With all the negative reviews here, I was very skeptical about my item.
To give a little back ground, I didn't go for a luxury purchase. I bought a Elle tahari jean, brand new with tags. It retails for $198. With all discount and shipping together, I had to pay $30. This was okay, considering the item was brand new.
Upon receiving, I was really happy. Packaging was very sturdy and neat. Came with a TRR dust bag for the jean. The jean, was as described, with the original tag and also the real real tag. Brand new.
Sizing was as described; so that was not a problem. Overall I'm happy. Will but items 'New with Tags' in future. But may not be a customer for Luxury purchase.
Consigned my Prada shoes which I bought for $600+ and worn only twice and they sell it for less that $200. Got $93 dollars for it. I also consigned my Gucci sneakers will were brand new, never worn and they listed it as Very good condition! Again they sold it for $200+ and I got 60% for it. They would not even ask you if you want those items to be sold with those prices. Like what one reviewer said, its as if they already own the products. Never again.
I've been a customer for about a year and have spent thousands shopping on the site. Up until recently I've had no complaints, but recently the pricing has gotten so much worse, and the description on the items are so bare and sometimes inaccurate that I haven't purchased anything in the past several months and may not go back.
On pricing: I understand that they are trying to be fair to the seller and the buyer, but the prices on these used items have gotten so high lately and you can see a noticeable increase in the past month. As an example, they are selling a used Tory Burch handbag on their site for $275. Retail brand new for this item (even noted in the item description!) is $295 and you can still buy it in stores and on the retailer website. Once you tack on shipping costs its BARELY any discount so why would anyone buy it used when they can buy it new for a couple dollars more? Baffling.
On description: The item condition descriptions are SO bare bones... I recently purchased a Burberry bag advertised as new with tags. No mention of anything else in the condition. The item arrived with the tag sort of tied back on - clearly it was not brand new with the tags (someone had removed and just tied it back on). There was also a small stain on the side which was conveniently hidden from all the web photos. They took it back, but they did not refund me the original shipping costs I paid to get the item to me, plus my time was wasted having to go through the return process.
Up until a couple months ago I was purchasing a lot but my experiences recently have made me wary and I doubt I will be purchasing much in the future.
I have purchased numerous items from the RealReal. As others have stated, their site contains a wide array of items that vary greatly in terms of their condition. "Very good condition" does seem to entail anything from battered to pristine. That being said, the many items I had purchased from them were all in excellent condition--some were even like new (clearly having never been worn)--and were authentic (I did have them authenticated after purchase.) I will agree with others that the shipping costs are quite high. As they don't allow returns on purses, I have not purchased any from them to date. UPDATE: I recently consigned with the RealReal, and it's been a frustrating experience. It can take months to sell items, and you often get far less than you expected when they finally do. I have had far better--and faster--experiences consigning with other consignment sites.
If you dont want to thrash your item, you can sell it other people thru this realreal.com site. You end up collecting other people thrash by paying a high price. Just see if your thrash pile carry any designer name as simple as it. The realreal.com can rip people with flashy pictures and hefty shipping fee. So for just finding out that the product you purchased is thrash, you will end up spending $21. $12 for their shipping and you pay for returning 9$. Shameful Site
It has been 7 weeks since my Gucci purse sold. I purchased it for 1,400.00. They take 60%. I tried to consign 3 other items all in excellent condition and all three 3 were sent back to me saying they were not on he designer list. Not true! I made sure they were BEFORE I sent them. They charged me 30.00 for shipping them back to me. It will be at least another week before I get my 178.00 check for my Gucci purse. You do not have a say if they put it on sale. I'm sorry I ever sent anything to them. They make a lot of money on shipping items back even though they are on the designer list and in excellent condition. DONE!
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Please feel free to reach out to us if this does not answer your questions or if you feel that the explanations provided were not applicable to your situation. Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,
Answer: Hello, We are sorry to hear of your concerns. If you can please send us your order number or email address we will happily research this further.
Answer: Hi Frank, Thank you for reaching out. We apologize you have seen more negative than positive reviews. We would be pleased to advise you on our consignment process and share a little more insight about the RealReal.
Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
Answer: I have returned things with no hassle at all.
