I hate the handbags no return policy, The picture they took is unclear, and the description does not justify the condition of the item. I made 9 purchase from real real and 4 of the purchase is good condition, the rest is very old and used, the picture do not show the item clear.
I had the same experience as many users below - the condition of the bag I received was not as described. Additionally, the pictures on the site were angled in a position where I can't see the large stain on the bag (and it wasn't in the description marked as "VERY GOOD"). I am really disappointed in the realreal and will not purchase with them ever again. I caution you to stay away!
I purchased an item that was nothing like the description. I honestly do not know how they can sell items in such bad shape and categorize them as "very good condition". The item was poor condition at best. I would be very weary of the no return policy.
Customer service could care less. I guess they have gotten to the point where they do not care if they lose business. Greed will make a business fall just as fast as it grew.
I ordered a LV Speedy 30 bag, wich looked like new on the site, and in real life it had a big stain on the handle and was much more worn out. I contacted them immediately, but since then i got no reply... Stay away from them!
I've irdered a few diamond items from TRR. They are described in their website as SI1 or SI1. But when you receive the items, they are in reality I2 and I3. Which means a poor quality diamond.
I contacted them for a refund. Or to take the item back. They came back a few days later and offered me a refund. Which I NEVER received.
This has for the past 2 months been a case of me trying to get my refund back. But they keep either ignoring me or lying to me.
Was not worth it at all.
As if someone would pay this much for I2/I3 included diamonds.
I received the Burberry shirt I bought, the measure online was totally different from the item I received, I'm not sue if this is a final sale, it sucks the description is totally different, bad for your business.
Received my bag, it appears authentic. The description stated great shape, mild handle darkening and inside ink spots, which were true and pictures to show. The listing did not mention anything about the large tear in the bag in the back which was repaired, but very obvious. It was not visible in the pictures due to the way they angled the bag. Up close very visible large area where the canvas is smooth and shiny from what looks like applying heat to melt the tear together. Overall, quick contact from customer service. I did get the LV Manhattan I wanted for only $500 instead of $1800, I would prefer to pay a lot less for a bag with a little wear. This bag was in great shape at a great price, I just feel they should have disclosed the tear. I probably still would have purchased the bag, I just wouldn't have been disappointed.
I was so ignorant to think my 1st Goyard would be a real one. First off the embossing stamp did not
Have the same font as a real Goyard nor did it say Made in France. No serial # and the name imprint in the chevron was not legible. The bag smelled like cigarette smoke - so upset that I lost out over $1000. My first and last purchase with this company
How frustrating I put a few items in cart & POOF! They were gone! I re-put them in and again and the same thing. Then I realized that the shopping cart was on a 20 minute timer. Laaaame! So then I rushed & made my purchase. Later figured out the "heart" thing but now if I do another purchase that's another shipping fee plus I do not get my additional discount? What idiots they lost out cause I would have purchased $600 worth of more stuff. Good for me I should be budgeting =P
I purchased a pair of sunglasses and this is what they are asking::

Is this a scam? I have never in my years of ordering online anything like this before? Can someone explain?
Just received my first purchase from TheRealReal and I'm one very happy camper. Snapped up a pair of designer boots which I've lusted after forever - in my perfect size, never worn, new without tags, absolutely authentic. TheRealReal supplied a nice sturdy dust bag in lieu of the original one.
I can't comment on the consigning experience as I'm in Australia and can't consign with them, but I feel that this is a great place to find that item you've always wanted yet for some reason never pulled the trigger on (as I have done).
As with eBay and all other secondhand places out there, just be savvy and keep your wits about you to avoid getting burned by fakes! My advice for any designer newbies would be to equip yourself with enough detailed, first-hand knowledge of designer products and their construction to spot fakes before you attempt to shop on websites like this, err on the side of caution, and avoid buying items which are known to be faked often. Yes they have an "authenticity guarantee" but my attitude is, your own knowledge is your best defence.
My only gripe is that shipping to Australia is quite steep at $40, but ultimately you just factor that into the total price you expect to pay and it is DHL after all, so it's super quick and great detailed tracking.
All in all, a top-notch buying experience and I will definitely be back.
I have to say that I have both bought and consigned with the real real, and so far both experiences have been amazing. I am shocked to read about all the negative reviews! Customer service has always been more then helpful, all my stuff were priced extremely generously and I got my first check last week I bought a Stella McCartney bag and I loved it and I bought a Balenciaga bag and I loved it, I am waiting on 5 pairs of shoes and I hope that I have the same amazing experience:)
This site makes it possible to own all the things I have wanted without having to pay full price or having to pay it all upfront.
Thank you real real :) keep up the great service
I ordered a speedy 30 from them and on the picture it was Nicely patina and when I recieved it the handles were blacked and it was not like the picture
This was my first time ordering from their site. I was a little put off by all the negative reviews I had read. But I had found an Alice + Olivia skirt that after all the promo codes would only be $35 so I figured I didn't have much to lose if it didn't work out. It arrived in 2 days and it's perfect. I couldn't be happier.
TRR site has horrible shoe size description and I won't buy any more shoes since they now changed the shipping method for you to get your own postage.
Profit over customer service and I'm sending more purchases back due to inaccurate description. Last purchase was a sweater described in excellent condition. The human odor stench was over-powering and can't believe it was accepted for consignment much less sent to me. Very poor.
I sent a couple of very nice dresses that retailed for around $400 here. Both were in excellent condition. After they priced them, put them on sale and then I got my cut I only received around $13 for each. I would have kept them for that!
I am not saying all Realreal's items are fake, but anyone who is familiar with authentic items should know this site is selling tons of fakes! There are many knock-off Chanel's, LV's and Herme's bags, shoes and clothing have been sold. I'm talking about those are "good fakes", so some customers clearly were fooled by that! I had once in the fashion industry and have 30+ year-experience dealing with many name brands products. For those of you who claimed Realreal is only selling authentic items, please do yourself a favor go buy an authentic one at an authorized store. Then you will see the different between the fakes and the authentic ones for sure. But by the way, some of the style or color of some items they are selling have never been produced in the authentic market, so you will never find them neither at fashion shows nor stores.
I worked for TRR; customers and consignors are being LIED to. Customers: Trust your "authentic" instinct, and don't settle for no; you CAN get your money back in any situation. Consignors: You're "damaged" and "donated" items are neither. They're actually being given to employees who enjoy them and often time turn right back around and consign them as their own.
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Please feel free to reach out to us if this does not answer your questions or if you feel that the explanations provided were not applicable to your situation. You can reach out to our Customer Service Department at (855) 435 5893 from 8am to 5pm (PST). If you would like to speak to a supervisor directly, please feel free to ask for Caitlin from our NJ office. Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,
Answer: Hello, We are sorry to hear of your concerns. If you can please send us your order number or email address we will happily research this further.
Answer: Hi Frank, Thank you for reaching out. We apologize you have seen more negative than positive reviews. We would be pleased to advise you on our consignment process and share a little more insight about the RealReal.
Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
Answer: I have returned things with no hassle at all.
