Bought a pair of sunglasses, they lied in the description, turned out to be completely different when they arrived. Called and they laughed and didn't care. Completely dishonest, refused to return them. Run from this nightmare of a company. Should be shutdown!
I bought a Givenchy bag and turns out it was faaaaaaaake. Also, bought a top that broke. There is no way that they didn't know it was broken before they sent it, but since I bought it during one of their sales, they don't accept returns.
I was really nervous to order from the real real after seeing all these bad reviews, but I saw an Alice and Olivia dress at a great price, and when they offered a $25 site credit, I took advantage of it. I ordered two nights ago and have already received my dress. It came packed in a dust bag and was new with tags and in pristine condition as stated on the website. The measurements seem to be accurate as well. I scored a $300 dress for $50!
Maybe I just got lucky, but I would only order NWT on a site like this with the ability to return an item if necessary. Most people are buying second hand items on this site and they need to realize items will look worn because they have been. And fakes have been flooding the market for years. It sounds like the real real needs to do a better job authenticating items before selling them.
I have a few additional items I have my eye on and will order when I get another site credit. Good experience overall.
This site has a nice concept but the fact that they pay no attention to customers needs is horrific. I ordered two cartier alligator straps they of course were not the deployant buckle like it stated in the description and when I tried to return them i was told i can only get store credit> What? So unsatisfied with their service I do not even wanna look for items again.
It is luck ordering from this store; you might get an item in great condition or it may be that it will be unwearable for different reason. Also, most of their items are over priced for the quality. If they are in new conditions, they will smell of humidity/mildew of a warehouse that can't get rid off for months. I received products in great state as well as garments that had rips and worned out. Very expensive for the state of the garment. Beware buying on their final sale; products are still expensive and most of the products I bought were in bad state. Were things that you can buy at any consignment store for a few dollars.
Overall dishonest in the description of their products.
I made several purchases from The Real Real this year and absolutely love it. The sizes and conditions were exactly as described. I am new to luxury brands and The Real Real has introduced me to how great a garment or handbag can be. I recently had a purchase stolen due to a careless mistake by a Fed Ex driver. Much to my surprise and delight, The Real Real refunded my purchase. I was touched that they trusted me and cared about my business. Love them!
I have made three purchases from the RealReal for handbags: Prada and LV. I have been extremely happy with each purchase. Due to the other reviews posted, I get extremely nervous each time. However, each item has came as described or better. Luckily, I have not received one with any odors. The online purchase process has been simply and easy. I have never had any issues with payment processing. Each item came either sooner than expected or as expected. I have not experienced any shipping delays. I have never had to call customer service and can't give any feedback in that area. I do recommend that you use a desk view for close pictures of your handbags, as the cellphone view does not have the same quality to me and key issues can be missed. Inspect closely with the zoom. I have only purchased the items that are described as very good or excellent. I just purchased a LV Metis. The handbag was in better condition than I expected. All it needed was a light cleaning on the exterior. The interior lining did have a few stains, which a babywipe was able to resolve easily. I had the handbag appraised and it was authentic. It was valued at much more than the purchase price. This has been the same for my other two handbags, as well. I wish that all the sellers would include the authentic dust covers. Only one of my handbags came with a dust cover. I will use the RealReal again.
I've ordered 4 items thus far, four pair of designer shoes. All came as described, sizes, and descriptions were super accurate. I got exactly what I paid for. I've taken off one star for $#*!ty customer service. If you think you can email them with a question, forget it. So as long as you dont have problem with what you buy or want to return anything, you'll be fine. The Real Real if you're reading this, you have bad ratings mainly because of how bad your customer service is over email and phone, fix this, hire some sweet person to deal with unhappy customers and your ratings will go up, your stuff is good thus far. Thanks.
I joined up on SiteJabber just to leave this review. The reason is because I saw the existing reviews before I decided to order from TheRealReal and nearly didn't because they are so negative (and I wouldn't have ordered if I hadn't been tempted the most gorgeous pair of Balenciaga pumps!).
In any case, I went ahead and ordered three pairs of designer shoes, which arrived today.
They are in far better condition than I expected - gorgeous. Barely look like they've been worn at all... seriously, they just look like someone wore them around the house for a couple of days!
I really don't know what people expect. You're buying second hand goods - definitely look very closely at all the photos and zoom in around the key areas of concern, like the fronts and the heels of shoes (if that's what you happen to be buying). Read the description and get those where the condition rating is either 'very good' or 'excellent'.
I'm certainly very happy with my shoes and wouldn't hesitate to order again, particularly given how inexpensive the products are, how reasonable the postage is and how quickly they arrive (and I'm in Australia).
Customer service is deplorable and they lie to lie to cover up the other lies. They are phony. Do not ever use this company.
Requested mailing labels several times through calls and emails - never received until I called back and had to hunt down my "customer service rep" (what a joke) and get her to send it to me. I had sent several emails in between with no response. (The delay in getting a response is anywhere from 3 days to never). The girl kept sending me packing lists and not the actual MAILING labels! Very frustrating. Will be looking for another site to work with.
I do not know if this is due to the fact that I am in canada but for the returns of merchandise I already knew better. The customer service person even told me in a correspondence that if in the futur the same problem I had was my account with it would be suspended.
As a big fan of Chanel, I can't help but notice this fake Chanel jacket on TRR site.
https://www.therealreal.com/products/women/clothing/jackets/chanel-checkered-boucle-jacket
I'm 100% sure this is fake instantly since the "arrow-like" trimming on an authentic one looks completely different. This fake one is so poorly make and disgusting!
Also come across another fake 2016 Chanel dress they are selling.
https://www.therealreal.com/products/women/clothing/dresses/chanel-2016-cashmere-blend-knit-dress-w-slash-tags
I know the fact that the authentic one is not price at $1900. This can be easily verified with any Chanel store.
Ironically, many counterfeit sellers are selling some cardigans, dresses & sweaters in this exact style. Don't know what TRR would do, maybe forward them to authorities for further investigation and find out the source of those criminal items.
P.S.
One fake after another! Today they just post another counterfeit!
https://www.therealreal.com/products/women/clothing/knitwear/chanel-rib-knit-trimmed-open-knit-cardigan
This is never in the Chanel 2012 collection! The authentic one in 2012 looks nothing like this. The counterfeit makers copied the similar fabric that Chanel used. I saw couple fake ones are for sale on eBay and those sellers claim they are from 2016 collection. But nothing like this was produced in 2016 and they all have the fake fabric tags*please see the attachment.
There is absolutely no warranty that what you buy is real! Customer service is full of dishonestnest people that sound upset to even answer the phone! Complaining goes nowhere and you pay high taxes on used stuff and really expensive shipping!
You are not safe on the real real Allegedly!
I bought a bag that arrived permanently locked with no key. Of course, it is non-refundable. No mention of the locked condition of the bag, or missing key, was made in the listing. The bag was also listed as, "Excellent. No visible signs of wear." This statement was completely false. The bag arrived a mess, with scratches all over the buckle, and very visible distress to the leather.
Another dress advertised as Lanvin, when in fact it was H+M.
If I could rate this site a negative number, I would. Not only did I select to shop in Canadian funds as soon as I entered the site, yet was charged in US dollars. I also bought a Hermes scarf advertised as being 90cm x 90cm, to have it arrive and it was a 40cm x 40cm. And of course, you are charged duty based on the value of what you buy - well I was, of course, charged a higher duty rate by DHL because I bought two scarves... and the one I never would have bought if they had actually listed the correct size online. The DHL charges are now money just thrown down the drain (to the tune of roughly $200).
To then fight to return both Hermes scarves I ordered, and have been waiting MORE THAN A MONTH for a refund. First I was told for weeks the refund was issued and the problem is with my bank. Then after weeks of fighting I am told "oops" we issued it as a site credit and you will have the refund within a day or two. Fast forward more than a week later and I STILL don't have my refund. I am currently out about $700 for this fiasco.
This site is corrupt and I would NEVER recommend anyone buying from them - ever. Simply put. There is zero accountability and I would hate for anyone else to be out hundreds of dollars as I am.
I've included photos below to further my point about false advertising. The two scarves I ordered were both advertised as 90cm x 90cm.
Ordered a Tiffany & Co watch and it delivered within 2 business days.
The watch was in a better condition than as shown, and it's the most adorable thing ever!
Whereas Tiffany watches normally cost at least $3000, I paid $225 for mine at TheRealReal.
That being said, I've seen mixed reviews and a lot of skepticism among other customers.
My mom purchased a Mulberry purse and paid more for it to be delivered within a quicker time period.
However, it arrived two days later and she was disappointed with its condition.
Both the watch and the purse are authentic.
I love this site. I've purchased many items from here and have never had an issue. Everything has been in near perfect to perfect condition. But you have to read to description and such very well. Some stuff isn't pristine obviously.
I received a fake Burberry Trench Coat from the RealReal website. It was listed on the website as an guaranteed authentic trench coat from Burberry, just as thousands other products. However, when the coat arrived, the brand tag said Burberry Brit, while the care tag said Burberry London. The nova check lining inside the coat didn't line up, they are all crooked. The Burberry letters on the brand tag is in wrong font. I am not an expert but I was able to point out these fake spots easily, how couldn't an expert at the RealReal? So, I emailed them, point out those suspected points. They had me send the coat back to re-check the authenticity. A few days later I noticed a store credit in my account which I realized later that I only had 3 days to use. No apology or any email admitting their wrong judgement of the coat. I emailed them, asking if the credit in my account means the coat is not authentic. It has been weeks but I still didn't hear back from the RealReal regarding my question. I feel it is very unprofessional for a company to keep avoiding admit their mistake like that. So, if you don't want to waste your money on fake luxury good, be careful and be aware!
Buyer beware. Items can be misrepresented in words and photos and not accepted for return. If you can't see ever inch, don't trust the description. Try Posh.com as an alternative.
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Please feel free to reach out to us if this does not answer your questions or if you feel that the explanations provided were not applicable to your situation. You can reach out to our Customer Service Department at (855) 435 5893 from 8am to 5pm (PST). If you would like to speak to a supervisor directly, please feel free to ask for Caitlin from our NJ office. She is available from 9am to 6pm (EST) and of course you can reach us via email at: [email protected].
Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,
Answer: Hello, We are sorry to hear of your concerns. If you can please send us your order number or email address we will happily research this further.
Answer: Hi Frank, Thank you for reaching out. We apologize you have seen more negative than positive reviews. We would be pleased to advise you on our consignment process and share a little more insight about the RealReal.
Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
Answer: I have returned things with no hassle at all.
