Just had my Moussy Vintage never worn jeans returned to me as unable to consign, due to interior staining. The interior stains were the manufactures imprinting of the style and size! Are real people listing these items?!?
Do not sell your items with them. There commission percentage is ridiculous high and not worth it. I sent in my mint condition Louis Vuitton scarf for them to say I'll get $200 back from them after commission?!?!?! Unbelievable. They also lost my Louis Vuitton tag that I received when buying it from LV. Horrible customer service the women hung up on me after I explained what happened.
I have consigned and purchased items from TRR before and never had an issue. This time however has soured me completely. Not only did I rearrange my plans when the person from TRR texted me on August 8,2022 the scheduled date for my at home pick up-- telling me she was on vacation and was not going to come to our appointment but would zoom with me. I showed her three of my LV bags, a small shoulder bag, the Artsy MM and the MM Noe in Damier Azur. All were purchased by me from LV in Short Hills, NJ. I had only worn the bags a handful of times so when it came time for me to review the price TRR placed on my items I asked for clarification on why they recommended the small bag and the MM Noe were priced around the same amount. I gave these bags to TRR on August 9,2022. I have not been able to use or enjoy my bags and they are not even listed for sale yet. I cannot get a real person to speak with me. When I reach out by text to the woman with whom I met virtually on 8/8/22 she advises that it is not her department to deal with the prices. She told me to text TRR to ******* or email but the text is just a "virtual concierge" and no one ever emails me back. It's a shame but I would not trust this company again. They tell you you can approve the price they set but if you don't agree with their price they just ignore you AND hold your bags! I just want to speak with a person who has the authority to price my items.
I tried to consign 25 designer items through the Real Real, all quality designers Oscar De La Renta, Bill Blass, Peggy Jennings, Ralph Lauren both Purple and Black. Everything was mailed straight from the dry cleaners. Originally all 25 items were excepted I packed everything neatly folded in white tissue and mailed them with the provided mailing slip. Then the magic happened. I received notice that they were going to return some items so I reached out to the agent that I had worked with and after conversation we agreed the best thing to do was for the company simply to return all of my items. Then items started coming back in different boxes from different locations everything was crammed in the boxes came back to me dirty and wrinkled and I continued to fight for the last six items for over a month to get some returned. It was absolute chaos trying to Communicate via text with anyone on a regular basis was impossible it was whomever was texting as a live agent that day, there was no history, no inventory list absolutely nothing!
If you want to buy from these people great but don't ever, ever, ever, Connoisseur anything with them!
I purchased an LV but it came torn ( which they didn't mention in the add). The pictures said, very good and only minor crack. The minor crack is a big tear!
I didn't realize that it was the reason why they said that item is not returnable. So I shipped it back with the same packaging and wrapping that same week for consignment. They said it will take them 30 days to review the item. Of course, in the end they didn't accept it because it is torn.
If you have items that are high value or rare, AVOID The RealReal. When you send high value items to The RealReal, their staff price them as low as possible, then buy them for themselves before you can contest their price, and then resell them on websites like 1stDibs for their own profit. They have done this to me twice - the first time it was a very rare item so I was able to screenshot it and have them reimburse me (it took a full year to get reimbursed and I had to contact the CEO through mutual friends), but they have just done it to me again with three items so I am DONE with these fraudsters.
BEWARE SELLERS!
I had hopes that the RealReal would be a good solution to help me sell my items as I don't have the time to do it, but was I mistaken. I wish that I never sent my basically brand new MCM tote to them. In my opinion it was listed for way under than it should be compared to market resale value (my loss and theirs) and with only getting a 55% commission - Iet's just say... I am pretty ticked off! The worst was my worn twice Moncler boots in superb condition that were $750. They listed them for $240. In the first 12 hours the boots were listed they received a couple holds and 40 saves. Thankfully I was able to get through to customer service to request them to be returned to me. I do not recommend using RealReal for selling good quality luxury items. Do your research and read through every last word in the fine lines of selling on their site. Actually... use eBay or Poshmark.
This company is a scam! They will pay you for your first month of income and not pay you after that. They already have access to your property, will not give you the proceeds or return it-and will not return any correspondence whatsoever, they make it very very hard for you to talk to anyone in management-I have never come in contact with worse customer service ever and I'm 56. Proceed with caution but please don't proceed at all! It has been a nightmare for me, and I will never get paid for a lot of jewelry I trusted with them. I Hope I can help even one person. Please do not send them or trust them with any of your items. Good luck if you do
Long story short, I sent out a brand new LV wallet purchased on April 2022. I asked my account manager for a price quote before listing the item. Not only was this not followed, but my LV wallet was also listed at $150. The picture on the site showed a yellow circle on the wallet, as if they had placed something heavy on top of it that stained the wallet. I've been trying to resolve this since 8/14/2022 and keep getting the run-around. The SMS messaging support is useless. I've talked to Jessa, Shantel, Kylie, Susy, Alaia, and now Sade. I've asked multiple times for a callback from a manager, which has been denied/ignored. I'm tired of wasting my time over this but is the lack of empathy, sense of urgency, and care for a VIP seller.
My experience in consigning with TheRealReal has been terrible start to finish. When I initially signed up, I was informed by an agent that I would be earning 55% commission and would get a $100 bonus after selling 10 items. I sent in 13 items, a couple were sent back and I was informed that I would need to sell all of them to qualify for the promotion. When the items were priced, I was very surprised by some of the prices, but was told there would be a fee for taking down any of those listings (and I would not qualify for the promotion), so I decided to leave them - you are able to take them down if they don't sell after 3 months I think.
Then when my items started selling I was appalled that not only were the prices way below my expectations, but there were discounts applied in most cases (lowering the price) and I was not earning anywhere near 55% of those low prices. When I contacted the agent again, she had left the company and the person I spoke to sent me the commission structure. I earned $10-$20 commission on many $500 items.
So now 10 of my 11 items have sold for barely any earnings (around $300 for Gucci shoes, Manolo Blank boots, DVF and Mason dresses, Marni jewelry, etc.) and I reached out today to see about the promotion, only to find out that it is for a site credit to buy something from their site, not commission. The whole process has been so misleading and disappointing. I definitely will not be selling with them ever again and I honestly can't even find something to use my site credit for.
By far the worst company I have ever worked with. I sold all my items in June and was supposed to be paid by July 15. It is now almost September 15 and I still don't have any money. Not only do I not have my money for the items I sold but they lost the items they we're supposed to send back and will not pay me for them or try and search for them. Now I am almost $5,000 down and lost most of my luxury items. The customer service is awful and will not help me with anything. Now i'm getting my lawyer involved and will hopefully shut down this company so it doesn't happen to anyone else. NEVER USE OR BUY FROM THE REAL REAL!
Almost placed an order until I arrive at payment and saw the shipping fee was $50.00 plus I would be required to pay duty upon arrival. Couldn't bring myself to make the purchase as it was just too much for shipping. Too bad was really cute bag but can't justify paying that for used products.
I have bought and sold on a lot of consignment stores/sites etc and the real real is my least favorite. First of all their customer service over email or their online chat is a joke and no one seems to follow through or up with anything. I bought a pair of sunglasses off them completely scratched up but they had food all over them... That's right sticky food all over the glasses, which was very odd. I'm not sure how anyone let them go out like that. And when you send them back (the sticky scratched food covered glasses) they charge you $15 to ship them back! What a joke! They take so much commission if you want to sell with them! Its like 50 to 70% depending on the item jewelry verses clothing. Also their pricing is all over the place. For eg. They had 2 identical jackets for sale (the brand "Mother") side by side on their site. Both were brand new with tags (so same condition) and the same size. One was selling for $450 and the other identical jacket was selling for $250!?!?! They do it all the time. Honestly, I've never had a good experience with them. If you are looking to buy or sell there are so many better sites, Poshmark, Mercari, Vestiaire. The list goes on.
For all consigners with The Real Real: please think twice if you care about your preloved items. My previous experience with them was not good. They sold my items 50% off without my consent. I didn't realize it until I saw my much smaller payment one month later.
Recently I decided to give them a second chance when their account manager Cristin Hisey reached out. She promised me that it won't happen again with my Hermes bag. On the very next day she came to my apartment to pick up the bag. Two weeks later, my bag was still in process in the warehouse and Cristin became irresponsive. I sent the requirement to their general customer service and started the bag return. They promised me that I would get my bag back in 12-15 days, which is a lie. One week later I sold my bag myself, but the deal fell apart because I couldn't get my bag back till 3 weeks later. When I received the package, my bag was a bit deformed because they removed the bubbles that supposed to be in the bag and the angle was wrong. I also sent them the original receipt because I think it can boost for higher value. However, the receipt was gone. I reached out to Cristin Hisey again because she agreed to the idea that original receipt would help their expert value the bag better. No response again. Then I used general customer service line, and they told me the internal team will email me 7-10 days later. I will never trust them again. Horrible company.
I sent my Chanel bag in for inspection and they sent it back to me with the serial number tag removed. Now I can't resell. When I complained they only offered a measly $40 store credit for something that cost me to lose $1100 in revenue. Unacceptable. They've lost my business
I purchased a dress which is advertised as Size Small, but when I received it, I found it is size M. Too big for me. They said they will call me back, but they never did. By the third time I finally spoke with someone who told me it was too late for a return. The customer service person named Patrick was very rude and he said it is my own fault and he just hung up on me. I said I just want to a solution and talk to a manager. However, I called many times and can't find anyone else to talk to me. This is the last time I will purchase anything from the Real Real. Their quality control and return policy is terrible. It is definitely not customer service friendly.
BEWARE! Do NOT consign with the REAL REAL! I consigned quite a few things back in May. It took a very long time for them to list my most expensive items. At the end of July after trying to reach out to customer service my new LOUIS VUITTON tote was not listed. I have tried to get ahold of customer service on a daily basis. NO ONE will call you back! My $3250 tote is just gone!
I have consigned with TRR since 2014. I have NEVER had a bad experience, until June 2022. I consigned 8 high-end items, one of which was a $ 1,000.00 David Yurman necklace worn once. All items hit the consignment page except for the DY necklace. After receiving NO communication from my "luxury account rep" despite many texts and emails, I reached out to Customer Service three times. (Call at 8 AM ET if you want to reach them). It has been determined that my item is "missing" AKA "stolen from someone at TRR". They are now "determining what price they will pay me out...". I am not optimistic. In my opinion: This company should NOT BE TRUSTED, THEY ARE A SCAM, the internal operations are failing and they employ thieves who steal high-end items. Take your consignment elsewhere!
This is the worst company I have ever dealt within my entire life. They came to my home to pick up my merchandise all very high end designer labels. They immediately start marking them down within a week if they're not sold. They told me this is a strategy they do. When my merchandise wasn't sold within 2 and a 1/2 months I decided I wanted them back to bring them to a consignment shop. Well that's when all the trouble started they lost 3 of my items I still have not gotten back any of my items I have email them I have called them numerous times which is no small task They put you on hold sometimes they just hang up on you when they don't have an answer. No supervisors ever call you back my merchandise is gone forever. They sent me a Louis Vuitton bag by mistake It does not belong to me it belongs to someone else that's how messed up this company is. Well they're not getting that bag back being that they stole my merchandise. I beg of you do not consign with this company look at all the reviews they are horrible.
Terrible customer service! I will never consign or buy from them. Go to anywhere else. They don't allow any customer service.
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Please feel free to reach out to us if this does not answer your questions or if you feel that the explanations provided were not applicable to your situation. You can reach out to our Customer Service Department at (855) 435 5893 from 8am to 5pm (PST). If you would like to speak to a supervisor directly, please feel free to ask for Caitlin from our NJ office. She is available from 9am to 6pm (EST) and of course you can reach us via email at: [email protected].
Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,
Answer: Hello, We are sorry to hear of your concerns. If you can please send us your order number or email address we will happily research this further.
Answer: Hi Frank, Thank you for reaching out. We apologize you have seen more negative than positive reviews. We would be pleased to advise you on our consignment process and share a little more insight about the RealReal.
Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
Answer: I have returned things with no hassle at all.
