They are bullies and do not care about their clients whether you're selling or buying. The fact of that their salespeople are calling to ask you for more merchandise to consign while you're in a middle of a dispute with them proves how poorly managed the operation is! I will never consign with them again nor will several of my friends who have been treated poorly.
Just wanted to let everyone know that I purchased a sweater in June 2023 and immediately I had a clothing moth infestation. I have thousands of dollars of cashmere sweaters and wool clothing and it all goes to the dry cleaners now to prevent damage. Everything can be ruined.
I estimate the cost to be about $1500 for dry cleaning alone. I also had our pest control company come and do a cost estimate and that is $350 and there is no guarantee they will go away. All this so I could save money and buy a $99 cashmere sweater.
I contacted the Real Real just to let them know they had an infestation. They didn't seem too concerned. They did give me a $25 credit for my trouble.
Everyone please be aware that there is a moth situation at the Real Real. You can do what you want with this information.
First time user of the real real and most like the last time. I Purchased a product from this website last night for the first time and my experience has been one I will not forget.
Custom service it terrible and could not rectify. The issue. Only offered me $25 discount on my next purchase.
After years of wanting to buy ready-made fishtail short jacket, I finally found one. The price was right, so I made the purchase.
After making the purchase I've received a confirmation email transaction had gone through with my Apple Pay followed by an email which I received through night sleeping that my order was cancelled with no explanation.
After a couple of try to make a new purchase of the jacket with another credit card and the website not processing the order jacket was sold to another person I'm extremely disappointed pissed off with the money has come out of my account yet they're saying that the order does not belong to me.
If I could leave less than 1 star I would. I've never been so angry with a company in my life. I co-signed my Tiffany earrings and matching bracelet to TRR in March of this year. My bracelet finally sold in June but my earrings did not. At the end of July I requested my earrings be sent back to me as I knew someone privately that wanted to buy them from me. Upon receiving them I realized my left earring was bent and broken. The moment I saw this I messaged their customer service team and was given the run around when it came to a resolution. After a week I was told I could send my earrings back for compensation. I sent them back as required and requested to be compensated after the investigation was finished. Today, when I messaged the customer service team about my resolution I was informed I would have to wait over a month until he next commission cycle to be paid for my item. I can understand that kind of wait time when you sell something, to accommodate for returns and what not, but when a member of The Real Real is responsible for the damage of an item it is unrealistic and unacceptable to make a customer wait over a month to be compensated. This entire issue could have been avoided has my earrings been handled with care like they should have. I am disgusted with this company and urge anyone looking to sell their expensive name brand items to choose elsewhere. This company takes advantage of you.
Thank you so much trr I got my packages it is very beautiful!so please buy in this trr company you won't regret it!
Nothing yet
Many emails no results waiting for customer service to reply and for a luxury manager to get in touch with me in order to safely consign a vamuable item
Sent me an altered dress and stated it was an XL when it arrived not only was it severely altered the entire hemline was crooked and busted. They even stated I was being forced to pay shipping!
We need a class action lawsuit started asap. Way too many errors way too many hateful comments.
Do not sell with "The Real Real". You will 100% get ripped off. Take your items to a boutique. My "selling agent" Markita was unreachable and extremely unhelpful. Please do not sell your items here.
Seamless transactions, lots of updates and useful information after purchase, frictionless and intuitive site packed with absolute steals. Great company and I've been a customer for years.
I tried to book few times a meeting with my account manager to sell some of my products. The account manager set up an appointment and did not show up, after I reached out customer service the person reached out or me and booked a new appointment where the person did not show up again. After reaching out again and asked the person to help me via text. The person committed and never replied. Tried again to reach out customer service and nobody replied to me. I have decided to move with a different company. Very poor customer service. Would not recommend
After 8 years of selling high-end luxury items with The Real Real, I've decided to cut ties. This is due to poor service and constant mistakes. I don't know what happened with this company but, it has gone down hill. If you have time to constantly make sure your items are listed correctly and corrections are made, then you'll be happy with the service. My last consignment was such a disaster, I REQUESTED, all 20 items to be returned. They'll probably eventually have to file bankruptcy. Anyway, I've decided to sell my items on EBay and Fashionohile. I'll never do business with this company again.
Example of error: they have Celine sunglasses listed as Chanel.
They do not check if items smell before they sell them on this website. I would report it to them immediately, don't get it dry cleaned yourself because they will not accept the return. Even if you love the dress they make you sell it on their website again so a smelly dress will keep reselling
I've consigned an item in May which never made to the website.
Upon inquiring they were keep responding that they'll look into it.
They finally admitted that they are "unable to reconcile the physical inventory of your item", and promised a payment of 70% of the value in a month. It's now been 6 days past the promised payment date and they are not issuing payment. Now another support person email me that they'll make payment in another month. At this point, I just want my item back.
I have bought and sold a lot through these people until this happened:
I shipped $1,600 worth of merchandise back to them using the label they provided, as instructed. The package was lost or stolen in UPS. Since it was their label, UPS will only deal with The Real Real, and this business couldn't care less. Their system is set up to intentionally give you the max run around, waste as much of your time as possible, and make you give up on your money. They will just hand you off to each other and tell you whatever they can to shut you up and make you go away. It is unconscionable.
Twice now I have bought jackets here where the sizing and description were completely off. I'm a large and ordered two different jackets that were supposed to be large and got a small and an XL. Not sure why things aren't verified before they send them out or list them. I've noticed jeans on their site are usually listed as the wrong size of what they are. Very annoying. At least post pictures of the size on the jacket so we can confirm before buying.
I am not satisfied with the service unfortunately my items were sold to be resold. The RealReal low priced my items later to find them on other online stores. I will never use them or recommend them. Please use another platform or sell them yourself. Check out the photos and video I posted of a perfect example a seller selling the same heels for $350 and the RealReal listed them for $89 and I only receive a profit of $68
There sizes that are posted are not accurate to the size of the item. Then when I bring it to them they will not give you credit for it. They are selling blazers that have been altered in size by the original owner.
I am a size 48 and I buy a blazer that is suppose to be a size 50 and I cannot even get my arm in it.
The presentation of the basket was elegant and the contents were of the highest quality. This gift basket is perfect for anyone who appreciates the finer things in life.
Title says it all, I bought a shoe listed a men shoe but I received women sized shoe. Now it's a realreal () pain to get a refund, and they want me to pay return shipping for THEIR mistake.
They don't care about their customers, avoid them at all cost!
After contacting their support and not finding a good solution, I opened a dispute with PayPal. So I suggest you pay with PayPal to get buyers protection.
Not worth the effort. It used to be a convenient service but now they charge you fees at every turn. They beg your for items then arbitrarily price your items (not fairly) and charge random fees - netting almost zero dollars for your items and time. Asking for my items back would yield a massive loss so I'm stuck with them until my last items sell. Use the other websites such as bag borrow steal.
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Please feel free to reach out to us if this does not answer your questions or if you feel that the explanations provided were not applicable to your situation. You can reach out to our Customer Service Department at (855) 435 5893 from 8am to 5pm (PST). If you would like to speak to a supervisor directly, please feel free to ask for Caitlin from our NJ office. She is available from 9am to 6pm (EST) and of course you can reach us via email at: [email protected].
Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,
Answer: Hello, We are sorry to hear of your concerns. If you can please send us your order number or email address we will happily research this further.
Answer: Hi Frank, Thank you for reaching out. We apologize you have seen more negative than positive reviews. We would be pleased to advise you on our consignment process and share a little more insight about the RealReal.
Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
Answer: I have returned things with no hassle at all.
