The company has garnered mixed feedback regarding its reputation and customer service. Positive sentiments highlight competitive pricing, a wide selection of textbooks, and satisfactory product quality when items are received. However, significant concerns arise from prolonged order processing and shipping delays, leading to frustration among customers. Issues with order cancellations, lack of tracking information, and inadequate customer support further exacerbate dissatisfaction. Overall, while the company offers appealing prices and a user-friendly purchasing experience, it must address operational inefficiencies and communication gaps to enhance customer trust and satisfaction.

We monitor reviews for authenticity
My textbook buyback was outsourced to these people and they gave me some garbage answer about my book being counterfeit and they weren't giving me my money or the book back! I'm sure they just turned around and sold the book to some other shmuck! This place is a scam and should be put out of business!
If I could rate this a "0" I would. Whatever you do, DO NOT deal with these people. They are the ultimate scammers. I sent in a perfectly great book to sell to them after they quoted me a great price. Now they're saying the book is not "authentic" and they will not pay me any money and will not send my book back. This is nonsense. Now, after doing research, I'm finding it's typical for them to do this. I have dealt with several other buy back companies for the past 6 years -- selling back my college books. Every company I've dealt with was completely honest. This company -- NOT. DO NOT deal with this company.
textbookrush.com Marketplace seller: Red Gorilla Books lied and said the book is "used GOOD" condition. I got something that is not good. I asked for a return shipping label. I am still waiting. They are scummy scammers. The book had pieces of trash scrap paper from previous owner. Yucky filthy nasty garbage. Still waiting for return label.
They give you one week to respond to an e-mail or else they "recycle" the books. I asked for record my books were"turned to mush" as they stated. They did not provide that as they don't have individual book recycling records, and recycle in bulk. I asked if they could provide proof that they've recycled ANY books since then, they first told me that they didn't keep records of their recycling transactions, when I told them that's impossible, they then offered to send me a picture of the books they plan to recycle which doesn't prove my books were "turned to mush" it just proves they have a box of books they want to get rid of. Lastly they said they do actually keep record of bulk book recycling, but simply refused to share it with me. They're obviously hiding the fact that they sell the books they "don't want to buy". Company is a scam, don't bother, just sell it on amazon.
I sent in a book for buyback and was given notice that they wouldn't be purchasing the book because the IBSN wasn't printed on the back of the book. I contacted them and told them there was a UPC with IBSN number on the back of the book because I sent it in with one. They took a photo of the barcode label and emailed it to me and after arriving at their establishment the barcode magically got ripped halfway off so they wouldn't buy it back. And for those of you who don't know, if they don't buy a book back they make you pay to have it shipped back or keep the book themselves to resale without paying you. This is an EXTREMELY DISHONEST company. I cannot believe they do stuff like this to their customers. I will NEVER EVER EVER purchase or buy from this company again. I caution you if you do...
I had a 251-page book in which 6 pages (18 sentences total) where highlighted and they refused to pay me for it! My book was in excellent condition and I bet they will still sell my book, which is stealing! Then they want to charge me to send it back? Again, how is that fair? Take your books elsewhere. Textbookmaniac.com is a WAY BETTER bay back website.
I purchased a book that was listed as "good" and including the CD that comes with the book. The CD wasn't included and now they claim that "good" meant that the CD "probably" wouldn't be included.
Their so-called customer service department does nothing but repeat that "good" means the CD "probably" won't be included so I should just buy a brand new book instead. Oh! I can return it, but it will cost me shipping and a processing fee.
Looking at other posts, they lie and steal.
Ordered a book from Abe Books and was shipped by TextbookRush. Paid for expedited shipping, but they claim Abe Books allows them four days to process the order. Waited so long and needed the book for a class, I had to buy an ebook and then return this purchase. They received it ten days ago and I'm still waiting for my refund. The processing time is ridiculous. Lots of excuses...
I sent my book back and didn't hear back from them. When I contacted them they said they received the label but they were not my books. When I asked what books they received they have refused to answer. DO NOT USE THEM!
I sent my book which was totally new. After a month, they claim that they cannot accept my book, they did not even explain, Never ever sell your book to them! They will steal it.
This is the worst company to sell books, not only cheap and they don't even know what is business, in every order, they tend to steal and not pay for books that are fine, I just talked with someone named Peter Pan he was rude and when I told I want my book back because is fine and you are not paying for it he says that I even have to pay 3.99$ shipping when the media mail for that book is cheaper than that, I insisted that i want them to send me the book without charging me no still any answer! Rude bad robbery
I sold books that were in gently used, no damage condition. I received payment for all of my books except, shocker, the most expensive book they quoted me. They said there was water damage on my book, which is NOT true as I dropped off my books in completely undamaged condition at the Fed Ex store. So unless they were damaged during the packaging and shipping process, I sent perfectly decent, undamaged books to this company. I have sent an email about the issue and have yet to hear back, but I will not stop until I get my "damaged" textbook back. Completely uncalled for and a complete lie.
I rented a textbook for college here and the first day everything went smoothly. They said they had the book in stock, they took the money off my prepaid debit card and everything. The next day, I receive an email from them saying "we're sorry, but your order was cancelled due to the book being out of stock". They then told me that I would get my refund in 3-5 business days. Two weeks pass and I contact them again, this time they tell me to call my financial institution. I do, and my financial institution tells me they never got it. I contact textbook rush again. Then, they send me a message saying "we're sorry, but we can't handle your case... contact your financial institution". That's the last I heard from them. DON'T GET TEXTBOOKS HERE!
This book is in horrible condition. Lots of racists remarks were written in the book. Also profanity, duct tape and excessive writing throughout the book. Very filthy, crumpled pages. This company did not make an effort to examine the book before sending it. They said the book was in good condition which was far from the truth. I would not recommend this company.
Buy your textbooks elsewhere... Ebay, Amazon, etc. Just don't buy from this place. Shady operations, Zero customer service, unable to meet deadlines, nobody to talk to, etc. etc... For every 1 good review, there are 10 bad ones on EVERY review site. I should have done my homework prior to placing my order... Oh well, will spread the word for others!
I sent two books in perfect condition, packaged it very carefully, and they claimed one had water damage. It is a scam. They refused the book that they offered the most cash for (claiming it had "water damage") and accepted the $20 one (which was the one that had the computer access codes). Do not trust them.
I sold two books to textbook rush. One was worth $35 and the other was almost $4. They received my books and gave me just $8 instead of $35. Their customer service did nothing about the issue and I would highly recommend that those that use bookscouter pay attention to the reviews and the stars given because these reviews are true! Especially textbookrush, they have repeated offense for horrible experiences.
Paid over $100 for a used book in "good" condition that came with a damaged spine. You cannot call Textbook Rush. They subcontract via Alibris books who have zero customer service except by a one way internal mail complaint form that directs you back to the dishonest seller who does not respond. I will have to cancel the payment by disputing it with my credit card company.
This company is a fraud! READ terms and conditions! They will send you books in bad condition and its up to you to let them know your book is in bad condition otherwise they will charge you for damaged book. Apparently it says that in the conditions. I was told to pay 250 for a damaged book that came to me that way.
I brought a new textbook that was suppose to come from MI instead I got an international copy with smeared print and black and white picture. On top of that the ISBN number doesn't match and the book came from India... return is too costly. Don't buy from them. It's a scam!
Answer: My main complaint with this company is that they agreed to take my returns/trade-ins that were brand new books, but then later they said the (new!) books were unacceptable and refused to say why. They sent them back to me and I sold them to another company, who gave me no trouble or shady answers. I would suggest Amazon student- they deliver exactly what that say, and are fair about returns and trade-ins.
