If there was an option to give a less than zero rating i would give it. Words cannot describe the utter frustration and disappointment i have with Takealot. Time after time i have purchased cosmetics from Takealot and every single time i purchase any cosmetics, eyeshadow in particular, the goods are damaged and broken. I have said this multiple times before but i am seriously done with Takealot. Another order was placed (Order #*******) and as could be expected the cosmetics were yet again broken. Its not even worth sending it back because the chances that the new product will be broken as well is 99.9%. I have thrown away so many orders where things were broken. They have no respect for anyone's orders. How incompetent are the people who pack customers orders? Can they not use their brain to think that some things have to be bubble wrapped or even wrapped in paper? They just throw your orders in an oversized box with nothing to protect it from being damaged. Not to mention the way the delivery guys handle the packages. Your packaging department should really go and get some lessons from Sheglam Cosmetics on how cosmetics should be packed or even Shein. Going forward i will warn everyone i can that they should never buy any cosmetics from Takealot. Rather buy it from the distributors yourself. Not only will your order be packaged properly but you will pay a quarter of the price as Takealot adds a massive markup on the exact same products and deliver them to you damaged and broken. Does no one take pride in their jobs anymore? How pathetic can one company be that they don't even have quality checks in place? We as customers don't get our orders for free... we pay for it. FINISHED WITH TAKEALOT!
For the past 2 weeks I've had the worst experience with takealot delivery. 1st i received sms advising that my order will be delivered before 17pm which i left work early however my order was cancelled without been notified. Reordered nd my order was cancelled again without been notified. Today the driver was in my area but couldn't find my place even after i send her my pin location, which i believe that she was laying as all other drivers could find my address as this is not the 1st time i order from takealot. I called nd gave her directions, so she told me that she is just delivering to order and she will come to my place after the two deliveries however she did not come when i phone the driver she advised that she went back to the office. I mean i set at home the whole day for nothing whereby i had things to do... Im soo unhappy with this kind of service its really disgusting. My order is been rescheduled for the next day which means i gave to sit nd wait for a order that's not coming, that's how little faith i have as this has been going on for 2 weeks nw

Takealot wont return my laptop after a rejected return!
Absolutely shocking customer service! Bought a laptop from Takealot and after 8 months, the hard drive crashed. As per the instructions on takealot, o logged the return and dropped off the laptop at one of the pick up points (there was a 12 month limited manufacturer warranty). So far so good. I track the return as per the app and it says "rejected, refer to email communication for more information". I check my emails. Nothing. I eventually contact takealot who say that because the back had been removed (to install more ram), the return was rejected. At no point did they (as per their returns policy doc regarding manufacturer warranties) care to inform me that I was supposed to log the return and then contact the manufacturer directly... i found this out by doing extensive research on my own. At this point I'm fuming. The status of the return has since been changed to concluded... but my laptop hasn't been returned to me and no one has contacted me to arrange for it to be returned. Every time I log a ticket, they reiterate why the return was rejected and when I ask about returning my laptop to me, nothing. They won't respond or acknowledge my question at all. This us pathetic service. I can't log the return with the manufacturer because takealot isnt returning my laptop to me. I'm honestly disgusted in the service received and the lack of communication.
I bought a carpet/ rug online from take a lot. Once again they have sent me the wrong item. Either an item is not working or the wrong item is sent. I am waiting over a month for my refund yes over a month.
So I purchased/paid for three items yesterday 21/04/2022
I cancelled one item because it will only be available in May
My order shows I can only collect 30/04/2022 for the two items they have in stock
It cant take so long to pick two items
I have phoned 3 times with no joy
When purchasing I chose Montague gardens, when I drive there they tell me I must go to Richmond
I phone again and ask to speak to a manager and get told they are not allowed to transfer call to managers
I say ok, please refund me so I can go purchase somewhere else, I get told it takes 5 to 7 working days once request has been submitted
Takealot, your service is poor, you take my money refuse to process my order, you refuse the right to speak to a manager, and hold my money until you see fit to refund me.
I have no idea after this transaction how you are still in business or how anyone is prepared to wait for days

They say items are I stock but they keep delaying orders then when you try to complain about it they just say sorry like they didn't just inconvenience you. I've spent tens of thousands there over the years and recently my last 3/4 orders have been delayed and some defective. I'm passed at them and I'm giving them 15 days to resolve my issue as per TnCs then to the ombudsman I go.
I purchase from Takealot regularly. Recently I received a product that was broken but haphazardously repaired. The replacement was not much better. They refused to publish the review. Understand the reviews are not a true reflection of the product and Takealot actively skews those reviews - which is not too honest so can they be said to deal with their clients in good faith? You decide.
Take alot is really becoming so bad and will not buy from them again, they canceld a battery my credit is on a voucher im struggling to get hold of somone to refund they cant give me a manager to call this is so poor...
Takealot is good in their timely delivery and they do have good deals at times. But sometimes they send the wrong product and their returns take time and effort to conclude.
Takealot lies, cheat and are not trustworthy to their clients. I will never buy from them again. Worste
What a disappointment. I missed calls from them regarding my order delivery at 16:18 and returned the call at 16:24. The reason for them calling was to inform me that the driver was stuck in traffic, which I appreciated. What created this 1-star review is what happened next. At 16:31 I get an SMS to say that I am not available for delivery. Without any follow up phone calls to say they are there, the doorbell did not ring or anything. My delivery was just cancelled. This is after paying the extra R95 to have the order delivered today.
This is definitely the last time I will ever be ordering anything from them and I wish I had read the reviews on here before placing the order.

Details aside, just be aware that should you have any problem with a Takealot order, the only access you have is via email, website or call centre.
Emails get answered by a different person each time, and each one doesn't understand the problem from before.
Call centre agents have very little impact, and you can't speak to a supervisor.
Website is of little help - if there is no progress on your return/refund for a week or two or more, there is no way of escalating your problem.
In short, when Takealot works, it works well, but if you develop a problem, you are in for hours and hours of frustration and anxiety.
Stay away from Takealot for big ticket items that you can't afford to be without.
Always get good service from Takealot. Their website and information is generally accurate. I do get frustrated when i purchase an item that says in stock and then it isn't, and instead of a refund, you get "store credit". That policy needs to change. Otherwise, quite happy with their systems.
I bought shoes from Takealot. When it arrived it was too small despite being my wife's size. I asked for them to replace it with a size4. The consultant insisted there is no stock despite me being able to order it. Even their Facebook people confirmed there is stock. Yet they insist to refund me.
I have been dealing with Nosive Daniso and she is totally ignoring my complaint to here as she is not even acknowledging it, but rather making excuses. They are incompetent and arrogant. Takealot you are disgusting. I will never buy from you again and will blast you all over social media!

I bought a 210cm-tripod-selfie-ring-light for R318 they didn't charge delivery fee I was happy to hear, but guess what few days after I ordered DHL asked me to pay tax and import duties of R707 imagine. Will never order from again. They are very dishonest they could have been transparent with all costs involved now I have to pay 100% more than the price I paid.
I ordered 3 products from Take-a-lot over the Black Friday weekend. When I checked out and before I paid, I was taken to a screen to choose a free product, I chose a cheap chinese headlamp as the free gift. I thought that I would give this to my father for his birthday which was in a few days. When my order arrived, there was NO packing slip, the box had one piece of tape to seal it closed and the delivery sticker and barcode sticker were placed on either side of the tape. The box contained 3 x items. 1 x of these items was the free gift, the headlamp. The other 2 x items are those which I had paid for however the 1 x item I had paid for was missing. I complained to Take-a-lot. First they informed me that if the box was not damaged, they would not be held liable. I complained further, sending them pictures of how pathetically the box had been sealed, etc. I also sent them pictures of the free gift which had 2 x sticker barcodes, the label of the product which was missing and another barcodes sticker. Now Take-a-lot has informed me that I must return the free gift (which I have already given to my father for his birthday), and they will then replace the missing item I purchased but never received. This is blatant THEFT... I PAID FOR A PRODUCT WHICH NEVER ARRIVED and Take-a-lot has REFUSED to acknowledge that the product I PAID FOR was not delivered to me. This is DISGUSTING BEHAVIOUR on the part of Take-a-lot. It is theft, they have stolen money from me
Terrible and condescending service from Takealot
I have been trying to sort out an order I placed since 9 September 2020. Nearly three weeks. My initial phone call was calm, patient, and querying why my order was cancelled but the funds had gone out of my account. After going back and forth with payfast and takealot, 5 different people, over two weeks it became clear that between the two companies, takealot would only do the bare minimum to "update" and taking as little responsibility of their sites workings as possible, claiming that I the customer must personally phone payfast to try and locate my funds.and both parties not really caring at all. To this date there is still confusion about where my funds are and whether or not payfast actually now owes me money that I had to pay back to them because of an issue with ABSA bouncing back payments.
The issue has now been escalated to the finance department because they still don't actually know anything.
Yes this complaint is as equally about payfast as it is about takealot, but I am disgusted by Takealot's lax approach to my issue as a customer that put my trust in their service.
I received a half hearted apology email from Riaan Rhodes at takealot, to which I responded that his apology is completely unacceptable.
Riaan Rhodes then phoned me, and proceeded to speak to me in a very condescending tone as if I were a child that didn't understand what the problem was.
I asked him if there was a reason he was speaking to me as if I were a child and if this is how they treat all their customers. I'm still not even sure what the purpose of that phone call was.
One thing is for sure I will never support takealot again.
Secondly do yourself a favour and never pay through payfast. (Its not actually fast)
Thirdly don't bother putting your complaints on the facebook page because its responded to by the man himself Riaan Rhodes. (Someone who really shouldn't be in customer care)
I have ordered a bluetooth speaker from Takealot which was damaged (Outer casing damaged) Due to this being a birthday gift, the unit was not opened for a week and a half after I have received it. For this reason they want to penalize me. First they accused me of damaging the property myself and also that there are accessories missing- then after making an exception from customer care, the warehouse again declined my return- this time because there is no evidence to pin point the damage to the couriers or drivers and because technically I am late with the return- this needs to happen within 7 days of delivery. I am constantly following up as there is no proper feedback or communication from Takealot. I really thought that Takealot can be trusted- clearly I have mistaken. Please take note that even if you buy a present for anyone from them- open it up so it can look like it has been used before you give it to them! Otherwise you will end up like me- out of 3800 rands. There are not even any responsibility that they carry, and very easy from their side- who will take them to court for every day items with not allot of value?
I am writing this review for two reasons: 1. In the last attempt, before I take legal action to get my money back or my order delivered from Takealot. I also know that they do not care about the reviews written here, but one has to try everything to at least get your money back or your order delivered. 2. To warn people about spending their money online at Takealot. My warning: Do not buy from Takealot! Please spare yourself the loads of drama. I bought R3500. 00 worth of goods. Firstly they just cancelled one of my items and decided to keep the money for "any further purchases" without my consent. Then, after a heap of emails, I at least received that one item but the rest did not arrive. Then two weeks later, after a lot of emails, another item arrived. Then nothing. The rest of my items disappeared completely and it stated on their website that it has been delivered and signed for. Then, in email after email I was promised that it will arrive on a certain day, the dates kept changing and my goods never arrived. I still do not have my goods and I did not get a refund of approximately R3000. 00. Takealot loves taking your money, and a lot of it, without supplying the goods. Spare yourself a lot of tears and frustration of sending email after email begging for goods you already paid for and being lied to about delivery dates. They keep you under "house arrest" as they keep giving you delivery dates, you wait and no one arrives with your order. DO NOT BUY FROM TAKEALOT. IT IS A TERRIBLE COMPANY WHO DOESN'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS.
Answer: I liked the fact that it is a South African company, but I will rather die then ever buy anything from them again.
Answer: I have not had any success with Takealot. I am waiting for an order I placed and paid for a month ago and they keep changing the delivery dates. It's a mess. I am now going to the Ombudsman.

Answer: What customer service, firstly it's almost impossible to find either their customer service email or phone number, they are not interested in you as a customer, they only want to take your money.
