Disgusting customer service
Horrible experience I received from Takealot. I regret shopping there. They sold me a defective Hisense fridge. I bought the fridge when it was on special during Black Friday, the other store had the same special. I chose takealot for convenience. Ohh I didn't know I will be inconvenienced so much. I reported the defective on the fridge and they sent a driver to collect it. I took time off work to attend to them. The driver came with a small bakkie and the fridge couldn't fit in the bakkie Takealot then said another driver will come with a bigger car. I waited the whole day and ended up calling them around 4pm to check the whereabouts of the driver. They said they will email me and call me back to advise. I waited for an hour and had to call again. Then I was told that the driver will come the next day blah blah blah. I told them I cannot take time off work again and wait for a driver that I don't even know the time they will come. They then sent a driver around 7:15pm. They then told me that the fridge will reach their warehouse in 2-3 days whereas their warehouse is less than 30 minutes to my house. On the second day they said they don't have the replacement and and they will refund me with the same amount I bought the fridge for. I refused because I bought food on Black Friday and needed a refrigerator asap. I also missed out on the same special from other shops and now I must buy the same fridge with a higher price as the special is no longer there. They did not care and just credited my takealot account and told me I can use the money to buy something else. I'm now sitting with bad food and have to add money to buy a fridge that I could have bought on special somewhere else.
Went on to Takealot a few weeks ago to price a gas kettle. Was R399 normal price. Decided to wait until Black Friday / Blue dot sale. Went on line on Black Friday to see that it is on Blue Dot sale - less 20% but the normal price is now R499 and the 'sale' price is R399. Not impressed.
Looking for a specific colour, Ash.found it on Take a lot...damn expensive... Lightened my hair before time and Guess what...money wasted the Ash hair dye didn't even work. Bought silver sjampoo and conditioner to go with it...what a waste of money.
GONE DOWN!As much as I used to love Takealot the frustration isn't worth it anymore...their customer service and QC is appalling. I received heavily mouldy toothbrushes twice (which I've had to fight to return and no apology), chipped sunglasses three times and they continuously deliver the wrong colours (they do have the correct ones in stock but then they put their prices up, forcing you to return, dishonest). When they come to collect returns on a motorbike, the boxes can't fit into the tiny compartment so they take the marked goods out of the boxes and then don't accept the return because it's not packaged and then they won't refund it! What I've come to notice is that a big corp like Takealot doesn't need us (although I've spent tons of money in the decades I've been a customer). They just treat you with indifference. However, from all these negative reviews seems us small frys are adding up! You guys can learn a few things from the smaller businesses that value their customers. DONE!
I ordered a delonghi coffee machine worth R8000 but they delivered 3 cloths. Now the process starts in trying to get it sorted. Call centre is useless. They referred my to the app to sort it out. The order was supposed to take 3 days to deliver, I waited 2 weeks and still got the wrong product.
I've been shopping with Takealot for years and so has my family. But starting today I will go out of my way to never shop with Takealot ever again, you will not get a single penny out of me for the rest of my existence.
I'll explain why, I know that when you "log a return" you won't be refunded unless you have the packaging, and in this particular case I explained on my return notes that I discarded the package as my intention was to keep the item but since I sold my tablet and couldn't use the item anymore I would have to return it, I SAID - please don't collect if you cannot REFUND me as I discarded the packaging.
Yet, here we are with my lovely little return declined, so I contacted your useless call center and talked to one of your *********** agents just to inform him the decline reason would have been because I discarded the packaging, and he didn't know up from down. So, now I'm out of pocket because apparently, Takealot needs glasses when it comes to reading returns, and the reason returns are logged.
So yes, I scheduled the return because I spoke to Mr. ***********, and trust me when I say this, I was willing to spend money in the future and provide your company with continuous support from my side. But I promise you I will head and warn anyone who wishes to join Takealot to NEVER purchase from you again.
For all I care you could keep the product and I would dispute it with my bank.
Please take care of yourself and hope you know you lost a lifetime customer over one item.

I ordered a portable fridge from takealot on 4/10/2023 after I completed the payment and read through the confirmation e-mail I realised I ordered the wrong thing I needed a portable fridge freezer combo not just a portable fridge. I went ahead to order a fridge freezer combo moments later also on 04/10/2023. I contacted them via email asking of they can cancel the order for the portable fridge they informed me that they can't but that I can Log a return and send it back. I did log a retun it was delivered by me 9/10/2023 and the return courier picked it up from me 10/10/2023. The parcel was never opend by me I just wrote the return number on the box. Then I was informed by Takealot that my return was denied because there is scratches on the item. On the photos that they've send me you can see that the box was never opened and resealed, but they say I've scratched the item. I feel this fridge was scratched in the warehouse before it was even shipped. I am very unhappy about this!
Parcel was incomplete.No keyring after numerous efforts try to eplay in my emails the situation it look the don't want to understand.they made the mistake bonnetguard attached to my car I did pay for it now they want me to return it.I think they really bad and not good for their customers on my behalf they can keep the keyring as a gift but I don't want to do bussiness with them my rate,0out of 10
First tv was damaged on arrival send back tv
Second tv came 2 weeks later and sam tv was delevired with broken box not even sealed and now tv is out of stock how bad can takealot be customer care doesnt even care now i must sit with tv for how many months until they resolve the issue dont buy any goods on takealot as they dont handle your product with care that you bought so how do you know you even get new stuff as the boxes are wet and not even sealed properly
Same tv being brought back after inspection and they say its a replacement bad bad bad!
I ordered Baby 3 in 1 Stroller & Tricycle Blue with Canopy, and it was delivered on 19 August 2023. The first picture is what I ordered. The second and third pic is how the box looked when it was delivered. Fourth and fifth pics that is how some of the parts looked. I was really disappointed. I request takealot to check, evaluate, and verify what is sent to their customers. It is really demoralizing to purchase equipment or anything that can be purchased from takealot for returning it. My grandson likes this baby 3 in 1 Stroller and Tricycle blue with Canopy, but the quality of this troller is up to zero.

Takealot has the worst service. I am losing money in a daily because of their incompetence they can resolve anything from Tuesday till Tuesday they escalating my matter. Make it make sense for me to still be patient. Sites not replying okay you gonna keep emailing and never get someone to find out why people are not responding. I wish Amazon will come to SA already so this new ownership of takealot can just die out and close down. They can't even look after their staff no wonder people don't do their jobs.
I bought a New nestling table, I received a used sub standard table. I took photos as proof direct after it was delivered. The big table eventually collapsed. On returning it to them they refused the return. I am now without the items and my money, as they claim it was returned to me by DPD Laser courier. The courier claims it was delivered to somebody called David. I have to date not received anything back. Endless emails send, you are lucky to get a redsponse in about two weeks of begging. The service is very poor. I got nothing resolved to date. I will not recommend buying from Takelot as you get no service and assistance when you have a problem
Bought a 6 in 1 derma roller, Takealot sent a 4 in 1 derma roller and way cheaper than what I ordered! I had to use it as the return took too long. Told Takealot to refund the difference and they making it very difficult... back and forward asking for codes, then my details etc etc hence they prolonging the complaint to make me just leave it!
TakeALot is one rubbish company. When you have to return an Item its a Hustle. The agents who answer their calls do not care about customer service. When you ask to speak with a supervisor they drop the call on you. You never seem to get help or have your query to be resolved. They don't care. Do not ever buy from this $#*! company.
These guys have no regard for their customers, and they act like they're number one in SA, while everyone is complaining about bad service, receiving second hand or faulty goods.
I got second hand goods twice from these guys. They are pathetic. Spend your money elsewhere.
Take a lot has paid a refund that is due to me to the wrong bank account and refuses to take any responsbility for it, answer queries or pay back the refund that is due to me. Take a lot should take responsbility for the fact that they used the wrong bank account number - must be fraud from the top to the bottom.
I like takealot, and use it often.
It has some issues that you should take now of:
1. They do not properly package the goods. Your items will rattle around in the box while it is being delivered.
2. There are a lot of fake sellers, selling an inferior version of a product for a cheaper price.
3. You need to keep the packaging for returns.
Broken or incorrect items can easily be returned at no costs.
