The BBB in UT wrote me back and gave me this address for Swipebids complaints:

BBB of Central & Northern Alberta
888 Capital Place, 9707 110th Street
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada T5K2L*******341

If you do not stand up for yourself when you are being ripped off, then don't complain. We know they are stealing from people, let the BBB know also. If you paid via credit card then dispute the charges, show the various folks comments on the rip offs, show the grade of F from teh BBB. You can get your money back that way. If you paid by debit card, I think you may be stuck. So complain even more to the government of Canada.

Never saw such a fast scam and it works so well. BEWARE all user! This is NOT a fill out the form to become a member. No matter what they say. As soon as you fill out the form THEY CHARGE YOUR CARD $150.00 instantly and refuse to give you credit back.
Then, after you "CHAT" cause that is the only way to get hold of them, they send you a Refund Form that says, YOU HAVE to wait 30 days, YOU HAVE to bid on thier stuff AND YOU MUST NEVER HAVE Won a prize on their site!

DON"T DO IT!

The following URL, http://www.swipebids.com/landing2206B.php?catid=11&awt_l=C0E0w&awt_m=L0ME5kMPl038rx, found on facebook, only shows electronics so i thought they were dealing with just electronics.

That site led me to the URL, http://www.swipebids.com/registration_pg1.php, which further led me to believe it is electronics, so I signed up.

This URL, http://www.swipebids.com/index.php shows things you can bid on after signing up. It does have some electronics, but I signed up thinking it I would be bidding on more electronics, particularly laptops & accessories. Once logged in you find very few electronics. I found 1 item of interest. I did try thier site and found out my $150.00 worth of bidding would not get me even close to winning the item. They require you buy more bids at 50 cents per bid. It would have cost several hundred more dollars to win it.

An example is Auction ID: *******,(actual auction, as I am logged into thier site for informational purposes only). The time is 04:26pm central (could be a little off because I am slow to type). At this very moment the item is at $313.96. Bids go up by 1 cent, so there have been 31,396 bids. 1 bid cost 50 cents. According to my calculations, thats $15,698.00 (please correct me if I am wrong). They require you to buy bids in bulk. Clearly a scam.

I got suckered in after seeing the site on a reputable morning television show and then an email offering 1000 free bids and a $25 walmart gift card... After I signed up with the code they required... the 1000 bids were not credited and neither was the gift card. I contacted online customer service and they told me that i must not have filled out the registration right. I told them I used their code and that they did manage to take $150 from my bank account... Needless to say, they credited the bids but told me i would have to win the gift card...

So, i tried for a $10 gift card that i won for about $1.50... The actual cost to me for the $10 gift card would have been $6.50 ($4.95 shipping) Again i contacted them and told them the cost for shipping was crazy... DON'T DO IT... It can be addicting and I really would like to get something for my money but don't think its possible... I should have used my better judgement that "if its too good to be true, it must be a scam"

For anyone taken by Swipebids, there is a 1976 law - Fair Credit Billing Act. If the initial purchase is not what was agreed upon, and you try to resolve with the retailer, then you can take your arguement to your credit card company, they will refund and take up your arguement with the retailer. How many arguements do you thing Visa and Mastercharge will take up before they just ban the site outright and save everyone the hassle. Good luck to those who were scammed.

The website "swipe bids" is a scam. If they nail you for $150.00 - try to stop the payment. Help us all by reporting them to the FTC and 7 on your side. If you want a real bidding/shopping website. Try Ebay or Amazon. Com.

IMPORTANT: If you are scammed by SwipeBids, do not take the time to fill out their Money-Back Guarantee form. This is a ploy to prove to the bank that you understood what you were engaging in. Simply, call up your bank, state your credit card was stolen, and that you noticed it with the SwipeBids charge. Your bank will remove this charge, you will get your money back, and it will help shut down sites like SwipeBids due to high chargeback ratios.

TOTAL SCAM!
June 14, 2010

TOTAL SCAM! They don't tell you your card is being charged $150 "membership fee" when you enter you cc#. Then you can't cancel the transaction. They tell you to fill out a 4 page form (don't make a single mistake on it or they will not accept it) and then you have to use all of your bids up ( but they give you more every day) and after 30 days, you have to send in the form AND contact them via chat and ONLY IF YOU HAVE NOT WON anything ( which they can easily control) will they consider giving you a refund.

I can't believe that the major news channels are touting this rip-off as a great deal! I would never have signed up had I not seen the video of CNN doing a story about swipebids saying how great it was.

Really sad, I almost fell for it. I clicked through to swipebids.com from a banner ad in Alexa and came to the home page. I watched a video on the home page and proceeded to register. Registration seemed fishy, too much information sought. I went deeper into the site and found some terms. Automatic $150 charged as soon as I complete registration? Not in the site terms. They are not supposed to charge in advance for bids I might place later according to their terms but it's all stuff that doesn't really seem real. I joined because I wanted to SELL stuff. Now I'm at OA Marketplace & eBay and it's all legit. Sad that FTC hasn't stepped in yet with so many complaints.

I bought the bait
June 13, 2010

I bought the bait. How slammed I felt after entering my credit card information for what I thought was if I purchased my $30 laptop, or for shipping costs. Then to see an e-mail "Receipt" for $150. This $150 is for my "free" bids = 300 bids for 50 cents each. A refund after a 90 day review. They sure take your money quickly! I saw a decent review by a TV news program. What a scam. Oh yeah, if you bid just as the time runs out, more time is added on! So no one really wins. Would someone put them behind bars?

I saw the ad for this site and went to it. 90% off eh? The old saying as stated before "If it seems to good to be true, it must be". Before going to any site such as this, I always check it out. This should go for anyone! Anyone who gets scammed shouldve known in the first place. Always do you "homework" before getting into a dangerous situation. Ive learned my mistakes by going to sites like these and other sites too. I could lecture all day, but those of you who learned the hard way, I hope youve gain some experience out of it.

YES, I WAS SCAMMED JUST YESTERDAY…
I was looking "shopping, not buying" around the web for a nice SLR camera like the Canon EOS Rebel… Then I encounter SwipeBids.com advertising, and sure enough I went to look around. I was so rushed into joining that I never notice the slick registration process would pull $150.00 bucks out of my bank account sending me into an overdraft situation and a charge of $22.00 from my bank. Remember this? "Due to high demand, we are only accepting a limited number of new customers today. To ensure your spot, please sign-up in the next 3 minutes." So now I am in with 300 bids at 0.50 cents each Ok? At this point I'm unaware of anything going wrong, wow! Look at all the action, lots of BID-Pack amounts to bid on, and Wal-Mart gift cards, but I'm looking for a Canon Camera… There is one, it say $229.38 and blinking 12 seconds to go, hit the BID Button now! Ok here I go Click! Umm… my name with a happy face, how cute, I'm winning… no I'm not. This went on for a while at 5 Bids per click, after a while the camera has gone up to $242.58 that's a ton of pennies 24,258 X 5 Bids per penny-click equals 121,290 Bids X. 50 cents per Bid that's a whooping $60,645.00 or so for Swipebids.com. I started to see a pattern of people with diamonds and gold crowns instead of happy faces bidding against me, they were probably bots. Hey! Interested in a HP Laptop? Just across was one going for $378.96 at 10 Bids per penny-click and many happy faces trying to get it. Well, not to be funny because this is not funny… This is definitely a very serious matter that should be dealt with all of the extent of the Law… I am 67 years old and on a retirement S. S. budget. Am I hurt, oh yeah! Would I try to get a refund? They already sent me to their friendly 30 day money back guarantee web page in which I must participate in their auctions for the next 30 days. Download the Refund Request Form. Must use all credited bids available in my account including daily bids (60 free bids credited daily upon login). If I do not win an auction within 30 days of original sign up with Swipebids.com, contact them via live chat at the end of the 30 days for a refund. Once they review my account and confirm I qualify for their 30 Day Money Back Guarantee, they will process a refund for the initial Bid-Pack purchase amount back onto the credit card originally used at time of signup. For Sure!

(((Our goal is to help people have fun while getting great values on popular consumer products. We are a dedicated and ethical company that thinks fun and profit should go together to create savings.)))

Oh! Such an aspiration coming from a dedicated bunch of scam artists.
I'm sick over this, my very first experience with scam artists, and my health is worth much more than the money I lost. I just hope that someone somewhere finds where they are at, gets a gigantic class action lawsuit "after they pay everyone" that shuts them down for good. "Of course in a jail cell."

This site looks like most of the other so called penny auction sites. They promise cheap prices on huge ticket items, however if you even watch the ongoing auctions, you can see that items about to end continuously get rebid on by supposed buyers. Generally speaking these will just be bots the website uses to make sure you don't win any of the auctions for less than what they are worth :p.
