This is a scam. I, too, joined only to find out I was charged $150.00. I was smart enough to stop there in hopes to get my credit card refunded. Will try, but not hopeful, even though I have done everything possible. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS ONE!
The site is a scam, you registar thinking you can browes the site and the next thing you know you charge with a $150.00 and the written refund policy is written so small you will miss the no refund. PLEASE DO NOT REGISTAR WITH THIS SITE. If there anybody out there who knows of any loop holes and getting a refund from this company
An unauthorized debit was made from my bank account. Someone used my name and debit card info to set up an account. I noticed a $150 debit from my account. I called the customer service number on the website and was told that per their policy they do not refund anyone's money, when the account is created you agree to the &150 charge. I told them that I did not create the account - someone stold my information. They still refused to refund the money. Stay far far away from this site.
I am very frustrated and upset with the way this website does business. I got the total run around from their customer service representatives on the phone and also the Live Chat customer service representative. I asked nicely for my refund of $150 dollars but was told there is no refund for signing up even though they have a money back guarantee that is impossible to complete. They are truly scamming every single person that signs up for membership. It is a well thought out plan and the crook that started this website needs to be sued and put in jail for taking advantage of so many consumers. I am a bid fan of eBay and use it often. But this website makes me furious. I have written to the Attorney General in Utah, the Better Business Bureau in Alberta, Canada, the IC3.com internet crime complain center, consumer affairs, and now I am posting on this website. I agree that a class action law suit is needed to help bring the owner of swipebids.com Jesse Willms to justice. He is getting rich while he steals from all of us tricked consumers. Good luck to everybody who tries to get their money back from their credit card company. Don't give up and let this company get away with this. There are too many fraudulent scammers on the website that just hope you won't take it any further than just posting on this website.
OMG! I am going through that EXACT same thing right now! It is absolutely ridiculous the way this company does business. They need to EXPLICITLY say that they will deduct this money from people's account. The wording on the website is really ambiguous. Given that, one would think they would be more understanding to customers and attempt to achieve some level of customer satisfaction. They refused to provide any information about the company and it is EXTREMELY hard to actually get a hold of a live person over the phone. When you do, they lack any sympathy. I spoke with a representative (Senetta) and then a "supervisor" (Tracy)-and that was after I had an online chat session with Peter for over and hour before he finally gave me their 800#-none of them were helpful. When I told Tracy that I wanted to speak to her supervisor, she refused & told me that no one was going to help me & that she was ending our call.
I am planning to file a complaint with the BBB as well as inform my local news stations about this situation so that it doesn't happen to more people. Swipebids has a horrible business ethic and won't be around much longer if they don't make some MAJOR improvements. It took me actually going to the BBB website to even find out they are based out of Canada (& not subject to the same U.S. laws). I am currently trying to dispute it out with my bank because NO ONE at this company has been the least bit helpful, and many have been downright rude. This happened to me just before July 1st which not only ruined my holiday weekend, but also put me in a bind because of bills and rent. I am college student and don't have extra money to throw away like that. I thought I was providing them my card info IN CASE I decided to bid on or purchase something. Not to simply register!
I just wish I had saw this before I gave them any of my info!
THE WORST THEY'LL STEAL YOUR $150 DOLLARS FROM YOUR CREDIT CARDS AND THERE'S NO WAY YOU CAN GET I BACK, ALSO YOU WILL NOT WIN ANYTHING STAY AWAY I LOST $150 IN THIS SCAM IT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL THIS IS STEALING WANT TO BUY SOMETHING IN AN AUCTION USE EBAY, RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM SWIPE BIDS HOPE THEY CLOSE THEIR BUSINESS DOWN THEIR MONEY BACK GUARANTEE DOES NOT WORK, BECAUSE THEY SAY THEY WILL RETURN YOUR MONEY IF YOU DO NOT WIN ANYTHING, BUT YOU DO WIN, YOU WIN EXTRA BONUSES TO BID MORE, THAT IS HOW THEY GET YOU, YOU WIN EXTRA BIDS BUT YOU NEVER WILL WIN ANYTHING IT IS A BOIG SCAM RUN AWAY! JOE DEMELLO
A total scam. The "membership" fee is not clearly stated and they charge your account without authorization saying that is stated in the application. I tried to deny the charge on my debit card and was told that I had to take it up with the credit card company. They indicated that I had to file a complaint, which I did. They advised me that it was stated in the application and there was nothing they could do! I am reporting them to the BBB and consumer affairs, but doubt that anything will come of it. DO NOT GO ON THIS WEBSITE!
I have to admit I "got took" when I first checked this site out and was charged $150.00 on my credit card... I asked for a refund and was given the run around which really ticked me off... My credit card company gave me an even bigger run around which REALLY ticked me off. I decided I was going to get my money back one way or the other so the first thing I did was call *******870 and cancelled the recurring monthly charge for more bids (it's been almost 11/2 months and there haven't been any other charges from them). Then I took some time to watch how things worked... I found if you bid between 1 and 4 am and 2 to 5 pm, and if you start small, and if you wait (let everybody else burn their bids because when the auction first starts everybody and their mothers are bidding on the same prize) don't waste bids you stand a much better chance at winning... With the 300 bids I received when I "signed up" I started small, my first win was one of the MP3 players which I won using 14 bids and I paid $1.87 and then $9.50 for shipping... Not too bad $25 value for $11.73... I then set my sights on a portable dvd player valued at $109.00... Used a little over 60 bids and paid $6.37 + $9.50 shipping... Next I went after an Apple iPod, didn't win this one because I didn't click quite quick enough... So I decided to try and go for one of the big ones... A Mac Book valued at $999... I used some of my bids to win and purchase some more bid packs... I only went for the 40 bid and 75 bid, bid packs (mostly the 75 bid packs, better value) which both start at a dollar... I paid and average of about $1.05 for each (again the time of day greatly increases the odds of winning at a lower overall cost to you) and bought $65.00 worth... I now had almost 4700 bids and at 5 bids a crack for one of these computers I figured I had to try and play it smart... First only bid on one item at a time... Click on the pic of the prize you want and it will take you to the item's description page... Here you can use the Autobidder feature (you have to be careful or you will use all of your bids up at once)... I waited until the computer was up to $73.00 and the bids were starting to really slow down (the timer was getting to 1 or 2 seconds) and their were only 2 or 3 people still bidding... I put 500 bids (cost me 2500 bids at 5 bids a pop) on Autobidder (nice thing about autobidder is when you have bids on it and somebody elses bid timer has to count down from the 10 to 12 second mark it bids for you at the 1 or 2 second mark and only adds 4 seconds back onto the timer instead of the normal 10 or 12 seconds) and let it go... After using a little over 300 of my bids (it costs 5 bids a pop but the auction price only goes up a penny) I had my Mac computer for a little under $80.00 + $9.50 shipping... Now to wait and see if any of it showed up... They sent an email to me giving me what looked like a USPS confirmation number so I went to USPS and it wasn't a good number... Right away went online to swipebids and asked them what was going on and was told that they use UPS Mail Innovations and that UPS had my package and it would go to one of these centers where it would be put into the USPS system... Sure enough two days later I had my MP3 player and my portable dvd player in my hands... The following Monday I received my Mac... All were brand new and sealed in the original boxes... Well I had gotten my money back and then some... Did take my winnings and run... NOT A CHANCE... Since then I have completed all 20 levels of my Reward Challenge (got a 27 inch quad core iMac $2400 value +10,000 bids) + two daily contests (a Mac computer for each) + HP Pro Book + 32 inch Panasonic HDTV (and it only cost $9.50 for shipping) + 2 Wii family Bundles + a Canon Rebel with 1000 bids + 2 Sony PSPs + a home entertainment system with 1000 bids + 7 hourly contests for a $100.00 Walmart gift card for each... So, to all of you that think swipebids is a ripoff... You just didn't play things right... To prove it I got a friend of mine to try swipebids using my strategies and he won his first computer faster than I did... To date I have won a little under $9000. 00 in prizes and gift cards (Still haven't won my iPod) Next is an Apple iPad... It will be tougher because they are so popular and in demand...
I too was ripped off by Swipebids.com in the amount of $150. My bf and I tried our damnest to talk to "swipebid representatives" online and actually on the phone. Every single person said the same thing " NO, this is not a scam blablablabla... We have a 30 day money back guarantee as long as you lose all of your bids in 30 days we will refund your money." **FYI** They give you 30 bid points per day even if you do not log in, so it is IMPOSSIBLE to get your refund.
****FYI**** Report it to your bank or credit card company IMMEDIATELY even if it includes you reporting your card stolen or lost.
I reported my credit card stolen and my company "investigated the charge" and gave me my money back easy as that.
I was genuinely interested in this site and was OK with giving it my personal information. After letting my guard down for a minute to "sign up", suddenly I got an email about a new $150 charge for a "one year membership"! I was furious! The online support was no help and only after much searching I found a phone number *******870. After an hour of arguing I was told that my "refund" would be sent in 5-10 days! Even if it is a legit auction site, no company should ever start off a relationship like this. STAY AWAY!
They are totally scam artists. I got sucked in to their penny auction. Like other commenters before. I want people to know this is a complete ripoff. If there is a way to happy this site removed, it should be. I doubt anyone is telling the truth. The, so called winners WINNERS! There's a clue. Not Buyer's, of an auction. Even if they do sell something, which I doubt, it is no doubt junk. It is simply put... A HUGE SCAM AND RIP OFF... DON'T DO, JUST DO NOT DO IT. IT ISN'T WORTH IT.
This site is so tricky... it will definitely trick you and get your money... when i joined this, I was thinking that they will not get any money from my account but believe me, they took 150 dollars instantly... when i asked for a refund they asked me to consume everything and make it zero, however, they took another 150 (a total of 300 dollars in just seconds) from my account. The customer service is terrible... they have 3 difficult steps. This is the tricky part... they want you to be an active bidder first, second they wanted you to consume every bids in your account, however if you will win anything no matter how small is the item, then you will be disqualified to get your money back. They will keep on giving you free bids even if you don't accept it, this is really hard because you cannot be refunded if you cannot consume everything and on the other side you will also be disqualified if you will win anything even how small it is... it is really hard to consume the bids especially if you got 3 remaining bids because the only thing you could bid for are 20-dollar wallmart cards or another bidding trials (ironic because... there's a 99 percent chance of winning more bids that will only add for your another bidding trials that will again defeats the purpose of consuming the bids for your refund)... what happened with me was... i got 3 more bidding trials remaining. And have to make it 0... i was really worried because i might win since there's no other stuffs to bid for the 3 bids but just 20-dollar wallmart card or another bids which i really hate to do because i might disqualify to get my 300 dollars back... i called, chatted online, and talked to different customer representatives, but they told me that there's nothing i could do but to bid for the 20-dollar wallmart card or bid to win another 40 bids... it was really a mess!... the wallmart card was already closed at that time so my option is to bid for the 40 bids to consume the 3 bids in my account... and yes... everything that i worry about happened... they let me win for the 40 bids that made me disqualify to get my 300 dollars... they just said sorry because i am already disqualified!... it really ruined my whole day... my 300 dollars is gone for nothing... :( :( :( ... i am writing this this review because i don't like this to happen to anybody out there... yes, there are good testimonies too but believe me only for a few percentage... this is just like gambling your money... it's just similar to casino gambling... people are looking forward to win with less chance to... you are just putting a lot of money for them... customer service is 120 % TERRIBLE!... SWIPE BIDS is a nightmare to me... if you are not a gambler then pls never join this site... more than 100% not recommended...
Well I started filling out the form till I got to the credit card part. Then I google'd it and got tho this site. I just wanna say I took five seconds to see the ten places where it states that the membership is $150. I didn't fall for it and neither should any other intelligent person.
Complete Scam. Anyone seeing a positive News report on their TV should now contact that same news organization and report the big scam that is going on to encourage them to rebroadcast what is really happening to unsuspecting people. Maybe enough people doing this will make it public faster that these people are complete crooks. And, hopefully some Federal organization will throw their asses in jail and ban the site immediately.
I've had nothing but good experiences with SwipeBids. I'd tried BidCactus before but it was getting to be too complicated. SwipeBids is much easier to use. It's true you have to pay $150 up front which seems like a lot, but for the experience it was worth it for me. Once I had won a bunch of bid packs I was able to deal with the bigger auctions fairly well. Obviously you have to pay attention to the bidding process but once you get the hang of it, it's a lot of fun. I know I've saved more money overall then I've paid for my bids, so I'm happy.

You are never to old to learn. I have been scammed for $1145. 00. When you go on the sight you have to give your credit card #. That was my 1st mistake. I did a little bidding until I figured out something was wrong. The counter (supposedly people bidding against you) kept resetting to 12 seconds everytime it got down to 1 second. I had an appointment and had to leave when I got home I went to the site to "look around" some more. I went to the tab that said "your account" because I honestly didn't think I had an account yet. Not only was the 150.00 membership fee there but also a fee for "purchased bids" for $995.00. OMG I thought I was gonna have a coronary. I called my bank (more on that later) I went on livechat and the person on there pretty much told me to "bite the big one". I filed complaints with the FTC, our Attorney General in Kansas, and I think it was IC3 or something like that. I'm so derranged right now I can barely think. People beware the more I read the more I know this is gonna end up in a big class action law suit. Thanks for listening
This is an auction type scam that can't be legal for long if it is. Bidding on more bids? What's even worse is that the one hundred and fifty dollar sign-up fee is not all. They conveniently don't tell you that you have subscribed to an 11.95 a month fee unless pressured quite a while. It's the biggest nothing I've ever purchased and I didn't even get that tattoo of Stupido on my forehead.
There is a man in california starting a class action suit against Swipe Bids.
His Name is Ola his tele# is *******331. Please call him the more people
Involved the stronger the case will be.
ABSOLUTELY DO NOT GO TO swipebids or you WILL get taken for a minimum of $150. That is how much they stole from me and told me there attorneys said it is all legal.
Answer: Do the BBB in alberta canada... i just got the items i won for fighting with swipebids for 5 months... that will get you results... it did me
