Overall, while many customers report satisfaction, the negative experiences suggest a critical need for enhanced customer support and service transparency.

First time using Swappa, great experience. Received phone, in timely manner, and as described. Will use again.
Needed a tablet for my four year old that I could manage content on. Really has two to three applications so I didn't need a ton of horsepower and rather than spend a significant amount of money on a new tablet I decided to look at Swappa. Perfect use case for it, spent 60 dollars on a 2012 Nexus 7. Arrived in 5 days, I locked it down and now my son can access Youtube for Kids and Kids Netflix. Highly recommend it.
I just received my first order from Swappa and believe this is an awesome way to get your next phone or tablet. I had a great experience and better "service" by way of communication than many new retailers.
The seller was awesome. Sold phone cheap and it looks perfect brand new. And threw in all kinds of extras from mods to headphones and a bag of candy for Halloween
My first Swappa and PayPal purchase. Smooth from start to finish. Lots of useful communication with seller, Swappa and PayPal.
I checked the site out on recommendation from a friend. Bought a mobile off the site. I am happy with it. Equipment was in mint condition
This was my second time using Swappa for a device and it gets easier every time. You have a ton of devices to choose from thanks to site and community standards you will always know the exact condition of the device.
I needed to purchase a new unlocked phone and so I heard about Swappa from my husband. It ended up being cheaper than Amazon for the same refurbished phone I was looking for and the seller I bought from had basically 5 stars. It was a great experience, my phone was in absolute great condition and it only took 2 days to ship to me. I'm really pleased and happy that I chose Swappa, saved like $40 too.
I purchased a phone from the Swappa site back in November-2015. Come October-2016, I list the same phone on the site for resell. Swappa refuses to list the phone since it is on a NEXT plan by the original seller. This policy makes sense, but there are absolutely zero safeguards/checks on the site to prevent this.
So, why am I able to buy this phone but not sell it back on the same Swappa site? They have even admitted that the phone should not have been sold. Extremely disappointed that they admit it's a fault in their process but will not take any accountability to resolve this issue.
The phone is in excellent condition, paying/shipping was smooth. Swappa played a crucial middle man role in the successful transaction
Bought 3 phones and everything went great. PayPal didn't like that I was buying a 4th family phone in two days and blocked my account. I think it is still blocked. After spending hours on/with PayPal, bought the 4th phone on Amazon at a higher price. Love Swappa, PayPal stinks!
Purchased an item via Swappa. I'm totally satisfied with the purchase and the staff's incorporation related to solving issues.
I bought a 'lightly used' iPhone 5S for Sprint from Swappa. It showed up relatively fast. When I tried to activate it, the Sprint rep said it wasn't a Sprint phone. After some investigation, come to find out it was either a repair, or a refurb, and the board that was put into it was a Verizion board. So the seller misrepresented the item.
The seller said to mail it back, and they'd send a refund. I mailed it back, with a tracking #. It arrived just fine. In the meantime, my purchase completely disappeared from anywhere under my account in Swappa. If I didn't have an email pointing to the messages I'd posted to it, I would have been completely unable to find the transaction on Swappa. That's been an awfully frustrating part of this issue.
The seller never responded after receiving the phone, nor did anything. I contacted Swappa, they directed me to PayPal for a dispute. I don't have a PayPal account; I had paid with a CC through PayPal, as a one time payment. That means I cannot open a PayPal dispute.
Swappa can do nothing to the seller. There's no recourse for ripping people off on there. My only option here is to go through my CC company, and refute the charge.
I'd avoid Swappa from now on. Why open yourself up to this kind of hassle?
I have done three phones so far through Swappa with no issues. Phones come in quickly as advertised. I recommend this site to friends who are interested in getting used phones.
I had yet another excellent experience with Swappa.
Received a mint condition Moto X 2014 2nd Gen. For a great price
Experience was all around positive, I found a phone at a great price, that I new was in good condition and not stolen. Transaction was easy and shipment was quick. Overall a great experience
Im new. I read good reviews. I Purchased an Iphone. It spent 2 weeks in the mail going back and forth among 2 to 3 states and I still have not received it as of this post. Swappa gave me my $10 fee back but seller doesn't want to refund my money until they get the phone back. They offered me $30 partial refund and keeps telling me phone is coming. They said they made mistake with address. I have been patient and polite for 2 weeks and all I want is a refund. Today I log onto Swappa and my purchased history is erased but I have no refund. So I feel like Swappa has no power when there is an issue. The customer is instructed to go through Paypal. Im just going to buy from T-mobile. Other people have seem to have better luck than I. So that's my story. I can't recommend them.
I have bought and sold phones on Swappa a few times, and its a great place to find honest deals. I like the safe guards in place to help protect buyers. I will continue to use Swappa and recommend it to all my friends.

Answer: Hi Peggy. If you receive a device that is not as advertised then you can return it for a refund. Our policy is that simple. Swappa staff works hard to prevent problems from happening, and PayPal has extensive buyer protections in case they do. Buy with confidence. Thanks for using Swappa.
Answer: Hi Alfred, Swappa requires all users to provide the ESN number for each device when creating a listing as a verification step. For more questions, please email our support team - [email protected] Thanks!
Answer: Very safe, I've bought and sold over 40 phones using Swappa and have only had one problem... When that happened both Swappa and PayPal had my back.
Answer: Yes, you should remove and keep your SIM card when you sell your used phone. SIM cards are tied to your account, so are not transferable. More information and why in our FAQ: https://swappa.com/faq/sell/sim_card_included
Answer: Because they are scammers and a holes. They can't be bothered with you. Awful site. Use eBay instead.
Answer: Swappa guarantees it which goes above and beyond paypal. They are running IMEI checks and they do a great job. It's on you when you receive your phone to go through the phone check list to make sure it's good, checking cameras, microphones wfi, bluetooth, water damage check, things like that. Its really worry free buying.
Answer: Contact Swappa support. If an item is not as described by seller, the buyer is entitle to a refund.
Answer: Most sellers don't ship to African countries. This is because they include a reasonable fee on their prices to cover for shipping in the US, I guess shipping to Africa would come at a higher cost and they seem to be avoiding that for whatever reason. However, you can research and register for a freight forwarding company and have your orders shipped to them. In turn, these companies will forward your order to you when they receive it. As I pointed out before, this is something you have to read about and carefully consider. Hope that helps.
The place to buy and sell newish tech. Safety, simplicity and staff-approved listing make Swappa the better way to buy and sell used phones, tablets, laptops, video games, home tech and more.
