Swappa generally enjoys a positive reputation for offering a reliable platform for buying and selling used electronics, with many users appreciating the thorough vetting of devices and the ease of transactions. However, significant concerns arise regarding customer service, particularly in response times and support during disputes, with numerous customers expressing frustration over unhelpful interactions and unresolved issues. Additionally, complaints about payment processing and discrepancies in product conditions highlight a need for improved communication and accountability. I've been selling on Swappa for 2 years. I have 48 reviews, all positive. However, I hate that Swappa leaves their refunds and disputes up to PayPal. We all know PayPal never sides with the seller. And that is such a lazy way of conducting business on Swappa's part. I sold a brand new, still sealed MacBook and buyer claimed he received a different MacBook. He even made a fake YouTube video of him "opening" the box to find a used MacBook inside and posted pictures of it all scratched up. He won the case, even though it was obvious he was trying to scam me. PayPal didn't even ask me for my evidence. They just said that the best option was to refund the buyer. I was out $2100 and never received my new MacBook back. The buyer was supposed to AT LEAST send me back the fake MacBook that was seen in his YouTube video, per PayPal's return policy. Instead, he sent me back a Lenovo. I brought this up to Swappa and they can't or won't do anything about it. PayPal wants me to file a police report, because my affidavit and all the pictures, videos, and plenty of other evidence weren't enough. I have another buyer who bought a brand new OnePlus from me. He then decides he's going to sell it to one of his customers. They use it for 3 months and they decide they don't like. So my buyer asks me for a refund. If he opens a PayPal dispute right now, I'm 100% positive that he is going to win, even though it is not my fault. That's how little confidence I have in dealing with refunds regarding Swappa sales. That means I will be losing money and receiving my phone back in a different condition than how I sold it. In what world is that fair? At this point, I wouldn't even sell my electronics on eBay. Don't sell electronics on sites that are backed by PayPal, especially Swappa. Swappa staff will not do anything to help. They just sit there and listen to the buyer and seller bicker back and forth. It's awful. The least they could do is close the sale out weeks after it's been marked as delivered. But no. Instead, they allow the buyer to chose when to close the sale. This is so unfair to the seller. Swappa sellers are usually those who run small businesses or those who just want to sell their personal items. Does Swappa not realize how horrible PayPal is to small businesses? PayPal doesn't care about the seller and neither does Swappa. Swappa says they want to remain neutral on these types of matters, but if you think about it, PayPal is never mutual. All Swappa really does is pass the job along to PayPal, who always sides with the buyer over the seller. I no longer want to sell on this site and I do not recommend if for other honest sellers.

This is AWESOME site
November 26, 2020

I bought an iphone 11 & it was everything the seller said it was. I did check his reviews which were 100% & asked a question which was answered quickly. The sales tax was a shocker but that is the government these days!

I've used Swappa a few years and I recommend it to anyone looking for a safe and easy-to-use tech marketplace. The fees are creeping up but I still look at it as my go-to site for buying and selling tech. It may not be perfect for everyone, but what site is?

If you are looking to buy or sell used, but working condition devices, Swappa is the place to go.
There is no need to sort over broken or not working devices listing, since only working devices are allowed.
The pictures match the quality of the device or it is not allowed.
You could interact with the seller about the condition of the device.
Like any other marketplace common sense takes you a long way.

I'm new to Swappa (and have only bought and not sold). I picked up two lightly used items on Swappa - an iPhone SE 2020 and a PS4 Slim. Both were sent promptly, and although I didn't have a ton of seller interaction, I got tracking numbers, they came in the expected timeframe, the sellers packed them nicely, etc. The prices were also very good and it seems like Swappa is pretty reasonable in terms of their fee/cut. It will definitely be a fixture in how I buy things from the categories they sell in, in the future.

These guys are 100% legit, a thorough review of devices is performed by an experienced team before the devices are approved for listing. Swappa promotes honesty, openness and integrity more than any other site listing used devices.

Got a 2015 MacBook Pro Retina 13". Opened to clean the fan as it was a 6 year old machine. Found thermal paste all over GPU and a broken battery connector which might prevent any future service or SSD upgrade. Other issues that show that a very sloppy service had been done which makes the computer unreliable. The seller was aware of the issues. There are no options like on other sites to request a return. The site is super slow also. Bought multiple computers on that other auction site (you know which) and never had problems.

IPhone 8 Transaction
November 15, 2020

I had never sold an electronic online before, and swappa.com was highly recommended via online reviews so I gave it a shot. It was extremely easy to list my item for sale, they gave recommendations on pricing based off what had sold on their site recently, and they use secure payment through PayPal. Once listed, I was given the option to also offer a local meet up for the transaction, and Swappa provides a list of secure meeting sites. Overall, I'd highly recommend using this site to sell any electronic.

Spening $5 more to have Swappa in the mix to help solve any issues - and to verify sellers are legit - is to me a no-brainer.

This was a clean, easy transaction that got me a mint iPhone for under $100. Totally excellent experience.

Great for Techies
November 13, 2020

Sold a phone and listed a couple other items, as well as browsed through offerings online, great on the seller side! You can find just about anything you're looking for, and the service is good. Much appreciated the customer service, even though I was told one of my items was too damaged to list.

Swappa is one of my favorite websites period and is often the first place I check whenever I'm looking for a (somewhat) new device. I appreciate the kindness of the employees as well as all of the precautions taken to ensure that products are as described and the process is as smooth as possible. I've never had a bad experience (over 12 products bought and 3 sold). I highly recommend to everyone to check here first next time they are in search of a device - you can't go wrong!

From the business

The place to buy and sell newish tech. Safety, simplicity and staff-approved listing make Swappa the better way to buy and sell used phones, tablets, laptops, video games, home tech and more.
