Great service

I bought a refurbished iPhone 7 for a price lower than anywhere else. The phone arrived quickly and looks/functions like a brand new phone. Super pleased that I decided to do this rather than buy a brand new iPhone that would cost $300 more. The buying process was really easy.

Swappa has been nothing short of helpful. Since this is a marketplace, sellers are responsible for accurately representing their items. I bought a 7 Plus that had something wrong with the sound quality (got checked by apple). I immediately let seller know and he is working with me to resolve the issue. Swappa was very responsive and informative on what the steps were to get it resolved. The whole experience has been so easy to work with them, and they are seriously so quick to get back to me with my questions and concerns. I accidentally marked the wrong sale complete (since I bought a new phone after the first purchase didn't work out) and they were able to fix it for me. I just feel like they have my back, and will definitely be recommending the site to everyone and anyone for buying and selling phones. I also sold my iPhone 6 Plus in 5 minutes after it was listed!

Recently retired but wanted to buy a phone off swappa, needed to change the shipping address, changed it in paypal but swappa told seller to refund money and make me resubmit it with new address. Delayed sale needlessly, whn asked about their heavy handedness banned me from swappa till I promised to play nice and kiss their butt to complete the sale. No need for their intervention and their retaliation was to slow sale down by weeks Their response is inaccurate so far sale has not completed so the vindictive slow down was a week at least, money had already pposted to seller there was no problem just an operator got but hurt at my response and screwed it up, they ar ok if your in no hurry and dont question them

This policy states that the seller must ship to the address attached to the PayPal payment. About a year ago, I used Swappa to buy a used phone because I trusted their checkpoints and was convinced by their anti-Craigslist/eBay persuasion. One good thing is that they do help resolve problems BUT the process wastes your time. The phone I bought was not ready to use. It was listed as good condition but there were issues. I had it serviced at the Apple store and discovered the battery was swollen due to water damage. The battery was replaced and fortunately the seller issued me a partial refund. The time spent dealing with this and without a functioning phone was obviously wasted. Then my short term memory lapsed and this year I used Swappa again to purchase a used but slightly newer model iPhone. The phone had a note about having an after market screen replacement. When I received it, the screen had four distinct pixel lighting inconsistencies. This was not a problem really except the phone was listed as in mint condition. How did this get by the Swappa professionals who guarantee their checkpoint system? Furthermore the phone was locked by an iCloud activation login linked to the previous owners account. The seller was very slow to respond which WASTED another chunk of my time waiting. It was close to three days without a phone because of this issue. The seller claimed Swappa did not inform him of the iCloud sign out protocol. How can this be considering Swappa lists the phone in language that communicates ready to use upon delivery? I regret supporting this company and will warn any future buyers to beware. You get less than you pay for with Swappa. Time is money!

The concept of the site is great. The only thing lacking is buyer protection. I received a phone with a dead pixel right in the center of the screen. It should be the sellers responsibility to check these things before sale.
Do yourself a favor, stick with Amazon, Ebay, or Newegg. They actually have customer service willing to help.

First Time Buyer

It was a good experience. Bought 3 items from 2 sellers. There was a delay on one order but that was due to the Post Office delivering it to the wrong address. Website could be a little more user friendly. The other seller had some shipping issues but Swappa was helpful in getting it resolved.

I bought a phone which resulted to be faulty and the seller ignored me so I filed a claim with Paypal which ruled in my favor, however Swappa refused to refund my fee. I sent different emails to Swappa and a condescending man by the name of Broc sent me an email saying they would not be refunding my fee for selling me a faulty phone. I will tell everyone to stay away.

Buyer requested a refund because the phone didn't work on their network after all. I had put down that I wouldn't accept returns unless the phone was broken, but offered them a full refund if they shipped me the phone back. From that point on it was chaos. The buyer escalated their story repeatedly, until it was that someone else bought the phone on their PayPal account, and threatened me with legal action. Swappa's "customer service" people told me that I had to pay it back because the phone wasn't as listed, despite it being a buyer error in the original story. This went to PayPal, and I'm still awaiting a resolution. The buyer changed their story there too, from a dispute of receiving the wrong/damaged item to a fraudulent use of account. I'm set to lose the money... and not have a phone. No protection on either side and no real customer service here.

This is why the buyer wanted a refund, this wasn't an error in their story. We are sorry the buyer wasn't easy to work with. While you may not have known it wasn't a Sprint phone, the buyer can ask for a refund because it was described inaccurately. We partner with PayPal to help resolve issues like this, as they are a great third party to help determine if the phone should be refunded based on our policies.

I am always worried about buying used phones especially on Craigslist, I have been using swappa for years now and never had any problems and always great experiences. I definitely would recommend if you do not want to deal with Craigslist and blacklisted phones, swappa is the place to go.

Avoid using this site at all cost. The marketplace is not what it use to be where swappa employees actually monitored the marketplace and listings. Swappa employees will verify anyone and any listing because they it a cut of the commission on every sale. They don't care if you get a product or not. I have attempted to purchase an item and it never shipped, because the seller is a fraud. Customer service states go complain to PayPal to get your money back. The website use to be good when it was smaller and more manageable but now its filled with a bunch of scams. Avoid and go to eBay to purchase products.

At Swappa, we review ALL listings carefully to make sure no broken or "junk devices" are sold in our marketplace. Everything from requiring verification photos from our sellers, performing ESN checks to ensure devices aren’t carrier blacklisted, as well as providing a seller’s full sales history. We use PayPal to protect our buyers and sellers in the small chance that something goes wrong - and it sounds like you got your money back via PayPal which is exactly why we use it.
