I was hesitant to buy a used phone online because of scams. I didn't want to use craigslist, so I did a little research on legit websites. I really liked Swappa because they're straightforward. The website is user friendly so it wasn't hard to find the phone I wanted with the right carrier. I felt safe because of all of the checks and tests the seller has to go through to post their items. I felt even more safe that Swappa uses PayPal as a reliable payment service. I knew that if I didn't receive the product that was advertised, I could get my money back. The seller was prompt and I loved the communication that Swappa uses to make sure all parties know what's going on.

I am currently dealing with a bad situation through SWAPPA. I bought a ZTE Boost Max N9520, that showed to be in good, shiny condition with an a/c charger. When I received the phone, it had a deep scratch on the face, the water indicator is red and there are signs of possible corrosion on the SD card tray. SWAPPA said they don't deal with disputes, to contest it with PayPal and if I send the phone back, they would refund my $10 buyer fee and told me not to dispute the buyer fee with PayPal. How do I know that the seller isn't going to state that they never got the phone returned? The seller already stated that he doesn't want it back and that it isn't the same phone he sent. Went so far as to say, he felt that HE was being scammed. All I want is the phone as described, where is there room for a scam in that?
I also did not receive an a/c charger with it, the seller said he wasn't selling it with one, even though it is clearly in black and white on the listing. The whole transaction started out with the seller stating he did not receive my payment and later back tracking, stating that he forgot he was selling the phone on SWAPPA and did get the money. The phone was shipped in a flimsy envelope with a very thin layer of bubble wrap around it. There did not appear to be any damage to the envelope or any dampness nor water stains on the envelope. When I tried to turn the phone on, the LED just glowed red, I tried to charge it and still red. I ended up having to do a hard reboot that I found on line and the phone finally turned on. I am still awaiting an outcome, so far a good result is not looking very promising.

When I buy or sell from Swappa their tight structure provides confidence for me and the other party to get immediate answers from the staff themselves if needed. This is easier for me than Craigslist and easier than spending twice as much with Carriers

Swappa is the best place to find a "new to you" used cell phone. Excellent prices and the Swappa staffers are there to make sure the transaction goes smoothly. I got a great phone in excellent condition for half the price of new. My brother told me about Swappa after he got his "new" phone there. So glad he did! Great experience and highly recommended!

I heard about Swappa through a friend that has used them a few times. I decided to give them a try and everything worked out flawlessly. I will use them again.

I have yet to have a bad purchase. Sellers are great.

Purchased a used Note 5. The phone was in great condition, but I did not know that rooting a phone breaks Samsung Pay which is something I was looking forward to. While the site has an indication for whether a phone has been rooted or not, it should more clearly explain what that means by breaking a key feature of a given model of phone.
