Swappa generally enjoys a positive reputation for offering a reliable platform for buying and selling used electronics, with many users appreciating the thorough vetting of devices and the ease of transactions. However, significant concerns arise regarding customer service, particularly in response times and support during disputes, with numerous customers expressing frustration over unhelpful interactions and unresolved issues. Overall, while many customers report satisfaction, the negative experiences suggest a critical need for enhanced customer support and service transparency.

I've bought and sold several phones on swappa. They verify all IMEI's so there is no worry about a bad device. The seller pays the fee and the fee is small. Definitely recommend using swappa over leasing a phone from the carriers.
Great experience! Easy to use site, received phone within a few days, everything in perfect order. No complaints!
So, customer had two of my particular phone, same listing, same specs, same description. I got the phone in the mail with factory looking tape on the box to make it 'appear new in box' as described in the listing. However the phone had a lock pin on it that required contacting him to unlock it. Obviously it was used. He said oh sorry for the mix up I have two of these. I'm thinking they aren't new, and he just sells them that way and puts factory tape on it. Probably forgot to do a factory reset before sending it out. Both listings were the same as "NIB" which is not true, think he just made a mistake and got caught with that. Nothing swappa can do since these are individual seller but sucks there would be no way to verify NIB. I love swappa though, bought about 5 devices so far.
All items were clear for detail, price and description.
Why bother looking anywhere else? Items arrived quickly and in better condition than advertised
I found Swappa through a link on the XDA Developers site after I tried and failed to fix my phone. From there I was able to browse through a robust selection of phones and settled on the perfect one for me. I thought that there was a sufficient amount of information and pictures of the device to allow me to confidently make a purchase. I also loved the sale page that enabled me to monitor the status of my order and interact with the seller one on one. I got my phone quickly and am quite pleased with how this whole thing went down. Swappa is a much better alternative to Ebay and Gazelle; would love to see them get their name out there more.
Swappa is not strict about the condition that is listed. As a result most people are posting an item as "mint" even though the item might have been used for months without a case. On some of the pictures people posted you can clearly see signs of use, while on others because of the picture quality and focus you simply could not tell. Don't waste your time unless you don't mind getting something not as describe and stuck in the return process. There is no enforced return policy by Swappa when the item is not as describe, and you will have to negotiate with the seller and then dispute through paypal. What a hassle! Stay away or try your luck.
Update after Swappa's comment:
I updated my title to specify buy new not used, and the recommendations based on my experience:
1. If the item is still sealed or opened but have original plastics on, and it is much cheaper than other sites, and the seller has good reviews, then most times you can get what you want and save money.
2. If the item is stated as mint but has no plastics, be aware that the condition is likely to be worse than described and then you will get stuck. When this happened to me, The response from Swappa rep I got was simply encouraging communication between me and the seller, which has no power for me to return the item. When I bought used item on ebay and the condition was not as described, I could return it because of the ebay policy. For Swappa, I ended up having to keep the item because I didn't want to end up in a war with the seller and waste my time in "communication/arguing over and over again.
This is the most comprehensive review I ever wrote and nothing is untrue or unfair.
I really like this website provides reliability and conformt that you most likely will get the phone you are looking for. All i can say is keep it up and to maybe increase your popularity
Fantastic buying experience! I am hooked on Swappa and will be using for future purchases.
Love it. Found what I needed from a motivated seller within a few clicks.
Fast delivery, great communication. Would do business again.
It was amazing how after only 2 days of watching the Swappa site I found not only the phone I wanted, in the color I wanted and the memory size I was hoping for, all in mint condition and at a price far cheaper than I would have gotten refurbished or used on eBay!
Every time I have bought on Swappa it has been a successful transaction and the phones work great. I've never had a problem on Swappa. The sellers are always there to answer your questions and so are the staff members. It's the best site to buy and sell your phone. I highly recommend Swappa!
I've bought and sold many devices now through Swappa. Smartphones, tablets, smartwatches. Every time i've had a good experience. Fees are low, users tend to be higher caliber than eBay, and staff is helpful.
Since I started using Swype in 2010 I haven't needed another text keyboard since.
I have learned so many advanced techniquies and tweaks to make Swype perfect (for example, switching Dragon dictation to Google). I know its not safe to text and drive but for a short period I didn't have Swype my attention on the road dropped significantly. So I highly recommend this to anyone I get a chance to tell.
Thanks for all the support and commitment.
Excellent transaction, communication with buyer/seller is great! Notifications are just right, fees are low. Really good way to buy/sell phones, tablets, etc!
I bought a iPhone6,64g for $420 in almost brand new condition. Had a small issue once it was promptly shipped, but Swappa closely monitored the communication and seller IMMEDIATELY responded and took care of things on the hour. The seller got a five-star review from me, as does Swappa. Being my first time buying anything big through a site like this, I had a GREAT experience, am SO happy with my phone and the price and would recommend doing business on Swappa to anyone buying or selling!
First time using a site like this to purchase a used cell phone. I was a little weary. The entire transaction went better than expected. Received the phone very quickly and getting it activated through my carrier was issueless and fast. Will definitely use this site again and refer it to others.
This site was easy to understand and use for a first timer. My device arrived fully functional and described perfectly. Quick shipping. Highly recommend.
I am so happy with the purchase of the galaxy s6. I got it at a cheaper price than anywhere else and was able to communicate well with the seller and I was amazed that I got the phone very quickly. I will definitely buy more products from Swappy.
Thank you so much

Answer: Hi Peggy. If you receive a device that is not as advertised then you can return it for a refund. Our policy is that simple. Swappa staff works hard to prevent problems from happening, and PayPal has extensive buyer protections in case they do. Buy with confidence. Thanks for using Swappa.
Answer: Hi Alfred, Swappa requires all users to provide the ESN number for each device when creating a listing as a verification step. For more questions, please email our support team - [email protected] Thanks!
Answer: Very safe, I've bought and sold over 40 phones using Swappa and have only had one problem... When that happened both Swappa and PayPal had my back.
Answer: Yes, you should remove and keep your SIM card when you sell your used phone. SIM cards are tied to your account, so are not transferable. More information and why in our FAQ: https://swappa.com/faq/sell/sim_card_included
Answer: Because they are scammers and a holes. They can't be bothered with you. Awful site. Use eBay instead.
Answer: Swappa guarantees it which goes above and beyond paypal. They are running IMEI checks and they do a great job. It's on you when you receive your phone to go through the phone check list to make sure it's good, checking cameras, microphones wfi, bluetooth, water damage check, things like that. Its really worry free buying.
Answer: Contact Swappa support. If an item is not as described by seller, the buyer is entitle to a refund.
Answer: Most sellers don't ship to African countries. This is because they include a reasonable fee on their prices to cover for shipping in the US, I guess shipping to Africa would come at a higher cost and they seem to be avoiding that for whatever reason. However, you can research and register for a freight forwarding company and have your orders shipped to them. In turn, these companies will forward your order to you when they receive it. As I pointed out before, this is something you have to read about and carefully consider. Hope that helps.
The place to buy and sell newish tech. Safety, simplicity and staff-approved listing make Swappa the better way to buy and sell used phones, tablets, laptops, video games, home tech and more.

Wei, I checked your profile and you've bought 4-5 other times on Swappa and left a 5-star rating for the sellers every other time. Here you have one disagreement where both the seller and Swappa staff were responsive and communicative to work with you, yet you provide Swappa a 1-star rating. Further, you make untruthful misrepresentations and overstatements about our service and even your own experiences using the site. Not accurate, not fair, and not appropriate.
