Sundance Catalog has garnered a mixed reputation among customers, with some appreciating the aesthetic appeal of their products and catalog. However, a significant number of reviews highlight persistent issues regarding product quality, particularly discrepancies between advertised and received items. Customers frequently express frustration over delayed shipping, cumbersome return processes, and unresponsive customer service. Many report long wait times for refunds and inadequate support when problems arise. Overall, while the brand has a loyal customer base, the growing concerns about service reliability and product quality suggest a need for improvement in customer care and operational efficiency.

I purchased a $3000 ring for my wife, when it arrived it looked nothing like the pictures so I returned it... easy right? Nope. First off they sent me a FedEx label because they didn't want me to use the enclosed one. So then I deal with the hastle of going to FedEx to drop it off because Sundance wanted to charge me $12 for pickup. The package gets received by them and had I not called I wouldn't know. Now it's a week and a half later and I'm still getting run around about what's going on with my return. They have ZERO follow through and have twice put me on hold for over 20 minutes.
I will never shop here again. Ever.
Recently I ordered a $90 shear top with a cami underneath. During my second wearing, the back strap of the cami broke, the front sagged and suddenly I was exposed -- at a party for all to see. It was the most embarrassing wardrobe mishap.
I complained, asking for a full refund (I offered to mend the cami myself), and all I got was: "We apologize for the difficulties you experienced with the XXX."
Did they not read about my experience or did they deem my experience triple x-rated? After complaining about receiving what I assume was an insulting form letter (that offered no concessions other than no return shipping fees), I just got an explanation that it was a form letter. DUH.
I've been buying from Sundance for years. I love their stuff. Even if it is so very expensive, wear out quickly because they are usually made from very thin/fine/fragile fabrics, and they NEVER give you a break on shipping. Doesn't take much to lose a customer!
I've been waiting for a month for a refund for a sweater that didn't fit. When I contacted customer service, I was told that the package was still in transit. Unacceptable! Still waiting for my credit card to be credited. I will never do business with them again! Other companies issue refunds in 1-2 days. What a scam.
I have been ordering from Sundance for many years without any issues until this last year. In July, I ordered a bathing suit cover up and a top. Both were on backorder, and Sundance gave me an approx. Ship date. That date came and went and when i called they gave me another approx. Ship date. It had been almost 2 months before i received the items. Summer was now over! I gave them the benefit of the doubt and kept the items for the following summer. I recently purchased 3 items after Christmas. One of the items my husband wanted to surprise me with (boots) and he had previously ordered and he was waiting to come in. I called Sundance to cancel the boots I ordered - mind you this was all within the same day! -- and was told they already shipped. I told cust. Serv. That I had not received a shipping confirmation and she said it should be coming in my email. Well. 4 days later i received the shipping confirmation saying that the item just shipped. Customer service totally dismissed my request and did not even try on both accounts (July order and recent order) to suggest or assist with a solution. And lied! Sorry Sundance -- no more..
I've been purchasing items from the Sundance catalog for many decades and have never had any complaints about their products ~ from furniture to leather jewel travel bags ~ I have always very been satisfied with the quality of the items.
But this year among other Christmas gifts that I ordered from Sundance, I ordered three boxes of their glass icicle ornaments for decorating in varying length. Although they were beautiful, unfortunately, one box came without the copper wires to thread through the ornaments and one box came with two broken icicles and one icicle that didn't have a hole to hang it, which I didn't discover until yesterday when we put up our decorations. So, three useless ornaments in a box of ten.
That was disappointing enough, but my real complaint is that their customer service reps were so dismissive, disrespectful and unwilling to send out replacement copper wires any sooner than ten day mail service.
The ornaments were expensive and I would have expected that they would have been happy to replace the missing wires via two-day mail at least. But no, I asked nicely several times with no movement on their part. Hence, I had to put off decorating until I received the replacement wires. When we started decorating, we discovered that three icicles were broken. Too late to replace them this year. A dissatisfied customer.
I cannot believe how unhelpful customer service is at this site. I ordered 2 items under a promotion for 20% off plus free shipping for orders above $100. After the order was placed one of the items was backordered - originally to 12/10. When it didn't arrive I called and was told it would be further backordered until post Christmas. I was willing to replace the backordered item, which I had to cancel since it was a Christmas gift, for a more expensive item if they would honor the original promotion. They refused to honor it - and also refused to offer their current promotion of 20% off but no free shipping on orders over $100 - because the replacement item, which I was reordering separately only because of their inability to fulfill my original order, was less than $100. I found their customer service representatives, including the manager I was escalated to, condescending and completely inflexible and unsympathetic to a situation created by their failure to meet their promised ship date. As a matter of principle I will no longer shop at Sundance Catalog no matter how nice their merchandise is.
Following is the review I tried to submit. I think it explains the situation very well. I received an email from them saying "Our staff has read your review and values your contribution even though it did not meet all our website guidelines. Thanks for sharing, and we hope to publish next time!" I'm offended I wasn't allowed to post and wasn't told what the issue was with my reivew.
My review: This review is more regarding customer service than the boots. They were lovely but I can't wear tall shafted boots, so I checked with customer service before ordering. They told me the boots had a 12" shaft which is perfect for me. I could tell at first glance they were taller than that so I measured and they were a good 15". I asked Sundance to waive return shipping fee as I had bought misrepresented merchandise, but they refused saying I had "received a service". I live in Texas. In addition to steep shipping I have to pay sales tax too. I rarely shop here anymore.
I spoke to sundance representative and was completely shocked by her disrespectful tone. I have always received the catalog and loved the clothes. I finally decided to purchase 4 tops. I have always ordered XS, and an XS has typically been a 0. These shirts were big with very long sleeves. When I spoke to Elizabeth she blamed me for not looking at the sizing charts. Then when I asked her about the high shipping cost. She again, sharply responded. I spent $19.00 for shipping 4 lightweight shirts. At the end of the conversation, she abruptly told me that no one had forced me to shop sundance. The clothes are beautiful in the magazine. Unfortunately, the quality is not impressive. My advice beware. Better yet, don't bother. I certainly would not want my name tied to this poorly operated business.
I was about to pull the trigger on a $218 cashmere sweater I'd fallen in love with and been thinking about for months but when I got to the checkout and saw $19.95 for shipping I said screw that! I've done this before with them but not for something this expensive. I thought for sure shipping would be free but I forgot who I was dealing with :(. Their shipping costs are always way higher than other high end companies but this was totally ridiculous. I live chatted with someone for answers and then said something about return policy, S and H, blah, blah, blah. So disappointed because I really love their stuff. Last year I waited 6 months for a back ordered belt my mom got me for Xmas. It was a total ordeal too but I do love the belt and wear it all the time.
Ordered console of reclaimed wood that looked great in catalog, not so much in person. Was going to keep it until one door would not close properly and locks on door only worked on top, not on bottom. I live 4 blocks from Pacific Ocean, finish was spotty in places, so I believe it absorbed moisture from the air. Was told refund would appear on card same day item picked up, but it hasn't shown up so far. Round trip shipping will cost me over $700.00 Very expensive lesson.
Gosh I was wondering if anyone else was having a problems with Sundance. This is like a joke. The first items I bought on sale, it was burlap bag that smelled like musk. I would not resale it online, I dont even want to give it away. And I was foolish enough to keep it to avoid fees. The next 2 items never arrived. I had to wait till hell froze over for that refund. I then proceed to really press my bad luck with them and purchased another jacket. Now if I had a very narrow back, and long long arms, and was shaped like an alien, this jacket would work. 25 days later still waiting for the return to my card. I called twice, 15 days after I sent it, they said its on its way. Just called, they received it. Will receive a refund with 15 days. Never, ever, ever again. I feel like contact Redford. "what the hell?"
I am very upset that this company will NOT stop sending me their bulky catalogs 2-3 times per month. An old room-mate ordered from them, so now the Postal carrier is required to give me the catalogs because it says "So-and-So OR CURRENT RESIDENT". I've called Sundance THREE TIMES but they always say "well it doesn't say anything about not sending them to you, but I'll make a note of it NOW..." but then they KEEP COMING. And so I call back and get the Run-Around all over again. I resent the use of paper, and I resent the temptation. They are cute clothes, and I am a walking clothes horse, but I do not need to spend my money on more clothes. I mostly resent the "Postal Harrassment".
I love this catalog, their jewelry and their style. But because I am 5'3" I am disappointed 99% of the time. Shirts and sweaters look like baggy dresses on me. I once tried a white shawl and looked like I was wearing a ghost costume for halloween. I just wish they had sizing options like "normal" and "tall", or they should admit that they design clothing for model thin, tall people only.
Beautiful overpriced merchandise that often looks better in catalog than in person. Also typically mediocre quality. Exorbitant shipping fees. And now come to find out the reviews are moderated if they are unfavorable. Many other reputable companies to frequent and purchase from.
Lets start by saying, that I have ordered from this catalog before and loved the product I have received. BUT this time around has me completely outraged. I ordered a $168.00 dress for a wedding in August. The other day, I received this $168.00 dress. I am appalled at how this $168.00 dress was packaged. It was shoved into a 9 x 13 shipping bag - the dress itself was packaged airtight into a plastic bag of 8x11. It honestly looked like something straight from CHINA! Then it was shipped regular mail and shoved into my mailbox. Now you'll can kinda figure out what the heck this $168.00 dress looked like... I am flabbergast at this company. I am pretty sure this will be the last time I purchase anything from here. SMH in Wisconsin! Sherri F
I ordered several items for Christmas presents. Very expensive clothes. I received the order. I was shocked by the poor quality, and cheaply made clothing. I am not exaggerating by saying Walmart has 100 times better quality.
Clothing looks nice in Magazine, BUt not the same thing that they mail to you. Do NOT buy anything from them! You will
Regret it! I was lucky to get my $750 back! Very Lucky!
Buyer BEWARE!
The products are beautiful but way overpriced! A tiny mention of "Imported" is in most product descriptions, which generally means "Made in China". That could explain why the clothing I have ordered always runs small. The catalog is obviously geared toward Buffy, Muffy, & Tuffy of the Hamptons and the Keys... All of the models are willowy blondes or slightly brunette... no curves or dark skintones. Shame on you Mr. Redford!
I wrote to them regarding their exchange policy and received responses. They get two stars for that and the items I have ordered are a nice quality. Regarding the exchange. It was three weeks before they acknowledged they received the product that was to be exchanged. They say the exchange product has shipped but it's almost 4 weeks and no product. Even a regular shipment takes at least 2-3 weeks to arrive. Shop elsewhere.
Nice, unique merchandise that's way over priced. But the kicker is the exorbitant shipping costs. AND you would have to pay for return shipping! Not worth it! You could end up paying more for shipping than for the product.
My Gosh I have never ever come across so many whingers.
I buy antique jewellery from auction houses and they charge a minimum of $25 just to ship a small ring.
There are lots of online businesses who make you pay for the return shipping, even if the item if faulty- and it their fault!
Answer: No. Sold it to a lawless private equity firm. Took the money and ran laughing all the way to the bank. Screw the customer until there are none, then just rebrand and keep screwing the customer. But when it comes down to it, its up to consumers to do their homework on all e-commerce as there are few laws, protections, and really no regulatory oversight/enforcement for this kind of criminal fraud which is rampant in the US now. Other countries have enviable common sense laws governing e-commerce on their books because their citizens wont tolerate the sort of abuses and fraud perpetrated by companies like Sundance, et al.
Answer: Shipping costs are extremely high, shipping is very slow and quality is not consistent.
Answer: The photos are so deceptive that the product you receive is nothing like them. See my photos below. I wish Sundance would do better.
Answer: No you don't! Overpriced and poor quality. I Purchased a necklace on sale and it was so tiny I returned it. This company is no longer affiliated with Robert Redford!
