Our trip to Europe couldn't happen because of coronavirus... we didn't have insurance but when I called StudentUniverse to find out what can be done, they took care of everything right away. They were very nice and we got our money back in no time. We were going to fly with Lufthansa Airlines.
My flight was cancelled and they didn't take any responsibility to help me to get the money back. For 2 month they keep telling me that they are waiting for the airline's answer.
If your sure you just need a flight, this is a cheap option. If you care about other things like service, I do not suggest this company.

I used student universe to purchase some flights and then corona virus happened. Okay, I understand that is not their fault. I had to have student universe communicate with the airline directly about whether I could get a refund, so beware if you ever need to communicate with the airline directly you cannot and have to go through this whole process. Again, not their fault so fine. My boyfriend and I had student universe request refunds for our flight which was cancelled BY THE AIRLINE. They said it can take up to 2 months for the airline to respond, fine. After 1 month I call to check if they have heard back and they say not yet. One month later, my boyfriend got his refund and I still haven't. I call again, and they tell me they never made a request for me. What incompetent staff is working there that the first time they said they are requesting it for both our flights and then the second time I call they tell me they haven't heard back, fail to mention they never made the request in the first place! SO THEN they made the request and let the airline know my travel partner has been refunded, which again I had to wait 2 more months and then I got an email saying they are offering me credit- not a refund. I call again to ask why the airline is only giving me credit when my boyfriend got his full refund. The person I talked to said that the airline still has not answered and that the email was simply stating I have an option to get credit if I want (did not sound that way in the email at all whatsoever) and honestly the staff is so incompetent that I don't know if I even believe that. The person I spoke to would not let me speak to the supervisor. I understand some things are not their fault and the fault of the airline, but the incompetence in handling this was horrendous. Never again will I use this site.

I was lucky enough to have been given a refund for my flight, thank you Emirates. StudentUniverse accidentally paid me the amount twice. Now I understand the second payment is their money and they obviously should get it back. However they first tried to charge my card, before the refunded money had landed in the account. This got the declined, after which they told me I needed to sign an authorisation form so they could charge the account once the money had landed. I quickly responded to them to say I didn't have a printer at home, so it would take me a while to get the form back to them. After this I got a couple of follow ups, all within a couple of days, to ask for this same form. Again I informed them I had not been able yet to go out to print the form.
Apparently it took them too long, and without any notice or authorisation they charged my account, which didn't have enough money.

Awful Customer Service! I booked a flight with StudentUniverse from Europe to USA. I had to cancel the flight because of COVID-19 restrictions. StudentUniverse confirmed to me over the phone and via email that credit will remain on my account and I will be able to use it to book another flight. I've been trying to book the flight for 10 days without any luck. One Customer Service agent is saying one thing, another is saying something totally different. They are even telling me I should call Lufthansa for assistance with booking my ticket and for following up on my reservation. In the email they sent me after the cancelation it clearly states: The new flight must be booked through StudentUniverse as we are the original issuing agency.
I have been talking with StudentUniverse and Lufthansa on the phone for several days. One agent says call Lufthansa, Lufthansa agent says call StudentUniverse. This is not serious.
Bottom line: Don't waste your time with StudentUniverse.
Lied to me consistently, did not care about my health and safety, terrible customer service. The worst i have ever experienced.

Attempted to cancel flights (one was already cancelled by airline) and receive the refunds I qualified for by airline due to COVID. I called and received a different quote to my friend for the same flights. I then called again and the cost had increased! Part of the cost goes to them and the other portion to the airline (even though I qualified for full refund including cancellations on both airlines COVID policies). Overall horrible experience, do not recommend.

However, we do apologize that you were quoted different amounts on different phone calls. The situation was changing rapidly, especially earlier on, and we are bound to all airline policies regarding change and cancellation fees and refunds. Student Universe not only has super competitive pricing, but their customer service is incredible and they were able to quickly solve all my issues. I would definitely use them again!

These people have taken $1600 from us for a flight which THEY cancelled,,, now we have been asking for OUR money back for months and they are refusing to refund us.
They are trying to say its up to another airline to refund us even though we didnt purchase from any airlines, we made a transaction with student universe. DO THE RIGHT THING and give us OUR Money BACK!
Especially in this current time of crisis do you think we can afford to be without our hard earned savings! You are taking food from my mouth and i will not stand for it.

We're an online travel agency, which means that when book a ticket through us, the money that you paid for the ticket goes to the airline in order to issue the ticket for your flight. We are happy to help request a refund from the airline, but we are bound to the airline policies and regulations. This company is extremely unprofessional and unable to provide basic customer service. I have been dealing with Charlotte in the Brisbane office and my experience has been frustrating. She has not provided me with the things I have requested including a copy of the company complaints process so that I can escalate my matter to be resolved.

Flight cancelled within an hour of booking due to covid.
Rung up straight away was told refund had been applied.
7 weeks later (and numerous emails) still no refund. I have checked with my bank to see if the refund is pending and nothing.
I have been continually told it is my banks fault, despite my bank checking and me also receiving refinds from other companies in the meantime.
Hideous, do not book with them unless you want to gift them $300!

DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY. They have horrible customer service and are an awful company. The airlines cancelled my flight and StudentUniverse is charging an absurd "cancellation fee" and not issuing a refund and they are claiming it is because of COVID. So I am stuck abroad having to buy a second ticket so I can get home.

Please do not purchased any flight ticket through this company, the customer service is literally the worst I have ever experience. Couple agents gave me a series of stories in terms of delaying the process of refund, empty promise on the call back/follow up. Ridiculous sad, I won't recommend anyone to fly from them!

However, we are bound to airline policies and regulations when it comes to refunds—we can only provide a refund if the airline is providing them for your ticket fare class. Also, we recommend that you don't post images of your tickets/itinerary online, as they contain personally identifiable information that you don't want to be available publicly.
This company will not work with you. They will take your money. I purchased insurance through them and they did not refund me despite the policy. They also went against united states aviation laws and changed my flight without me knowing. I got confirmation from the airline as well as insurance for a full refund and they still refused. I will never use them again.

My flight with Iceland Air has been canceled, and although IcelandAir is offering customers full refunds, StudentUniverse is charging an additional $40 per ticket refund. So it's either fork over an extra $40 per ticket or lose your entire refund. Sounds fair right?

Student Universe worked hard on my behalf to get a full refund from British Airways who wanted to charge a $300 cancellation fee. They also waived their student Universe cancellation fee. The only reason I gave them a 4 star and not 5 was because it took a long time. It probably wasn't even their fault they had to wait for the airlines approval. Every time i reached out they always got back to me. In the end they have a happy customer. I will still have to wait two more weeks for British Airways to issue the refund to me. Student Universe did not advocate for me in terms of ticket refunds and despite the $75 travel insurance I bought on my ticket they were essentially useless. I do not recommend using this service and will use any other travel service in the future. The workers at the help desk are rude and disrespectful.

The travel insurance we sell is provided through a different company, so while you are welcome to process an insurance claim with them, we personally can't provide any insurance benefits. Told me they are applying Emirates policy for cancelling my flights ($150) but after speaking to Emirates via online chat they were not charging their customers... seem to pick and choose which policy suits them?
Moreover the window seat option does not guarantee you a window seat... a waste of money.

For the seats, we understand it is frustrating but it is sometimes the case that there aren't any seats left of the kind you selected available—in which case we always refund that seat selection fee. I booked a roundtrip flight on here for my study abroad trip to Dublin. This was my first time using this website. It saved me over $600 compared to other booking sites. Everything went smoothly, I had no issues. The airline rescheduled my flight twice and Student Universe was quick to inform me and offer changes if necessary.
