I purchased a $35 prepaid phone card at Walmart. Not knowing if it would work with my phone (ATT compatible), we called Straight Talk Customer Service - Technical support - to see if Straight talk would work with my phone. They advised me to purchase the card since it comes with different SIM cards for the different networks. So, I bought it. The agent at Walmart said that if anything went wrong, Walmart would not reimburse me. Nevertheless, I purchased the card because the technical person at Straight Talk had said it would work as long as I used the AT&T SiM card.
Well, I went home, put in the new SIM card and got a message saying the phone was incompatible. Called Straight Talk and said they were not responsible and I was not entitled for a refund. I was able to talk to a supervisor who told me that I could send the card to an address in Cooper General, TN (after paying on my own for the delivery) and that I should be able to get a refund.
Guess what, UPS returned the envelope with the SIM card because the address was undeliverable. Called Straight Talk and said that they do not refund a product bought at Walmart and they did not have any address in TN to return any items. I was shocked. They had lied?
So, I am stuck with a card that does not work. Neither Walmart, not Straight Talk take responsibility and I even lost $20 extra dollars sending an envelope to an address that is "undeliverable"
I bought my son a Straight Talk phone from Walmart with a 30 day card. He was waiting for a government issued QLink phone card. When he received the card, he tried to transfer service and was told by Straight Talk he had to wait 60 days. His Straight Talk phone was broken and now past his 60 days when he called yesterday. Since he originally tried to register the government card w/it, QLink told him he needed an unlock code from Straight Talk. He was putting this card on a different phone. Straight Talk told him he could either pay $136 or keep the contract for 12 months. This is a no-contract service! The customer service rep, Marjorie, would not transfer us to a supervisor or manager to discuss this further. I would think this is illegal. How can they hold a customer hostage with their service and charge $136 when you can't even use their phone? The reason he has a QLink card is because he can't afford a cell bill and has a child.
Switched to Straight Talk five days ago and I have been lucky if I have had two days of service. I have had to call almost every day to get my services working properly. My service was deactivated yesterday for no reason. Had to call from another phone to get my services reactivated. The agent I spoke with tried blaming me for my service getting deactivated! This morning I had to reach back out because my texts weren't going through. The agent I chatted with said she was working out some discrepancies but couldn't tell me what they were or why I kept experiencing so many issues. Since I can't get refunded for the service plan I unfortunately have to deal with this for 25 more days. I will definitely be switching to a different provider...
They shut my phone off after I bought a 3 month service plan. Said I had to buy a new phone so I switched to att had a nightmare of a time porting my number 3 days on the phone. Called and tried to get a refund on the 3 month plan I bought. They tell me I'm still on there service even though I am on an att plan. Rip off to the max will never use straight talk again.
Unreasonable and unfair! They do not care about theirs customers. I bought 4 phones for my kids and then went to cricket cause it's the same service I use. After purchasing 4 sim cards and services for $300, straight talk blocks cricket from switching our phones over to cricket. Claiming we have to be with them a year before switching and if not it will cost over $130 for each phone. I never signed no contract with them! We bought it from Walmart and was only buying prepaid mins. I explained to them cricket refuses to give our money back, not even credit. They didn't care! How we're we suppose to know! Now we're stuck with 4 worthless phones and 4 worthless sim cards. NEVER buy a phone with straight talk unless you want to be stuck with them a whole year! There won't be NO WARNING
I had straight talk for myself, my wife and my mother in law for 10 years. We changed all of our phones to another provider in April 2022 because of poor customer service. The problem is that my mother in laws phone was on auto-fill and Straight Talk has continued to charge monthly for the cancelled phone service. We have called customer no service several times about this issue, but to no avail. We no longer have the phone, so we can't provide the ISM# and Straight Talk says that the cell# we had is no longer associated with an active account. This equates to an 80yo widow with congestive heart failure being stolen from every month. We now have no recourse but to cancel the debit card that ST is drawing from, getting a new card number and updating electric and land line providers with new payment info. Do yourself a favor... DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO STRAIGHT TALK... There are better discount providers that are less expensive that have US based customer service. P. S: The only reason I rated this review with 1 star was because there wasn't an option to rate with no stars!
They disconnected my service without any notice when my service plan was just purchased a week prior. Forcing me to put a Verizon sim in my phone which I did NOT want to do. Now my phone still isn't working on day 2 and they can not figure it out..
My service was interrupted with no explanation from straight talk. Their customer service is the absolute worst EVER! Forget trying to call the customer service number. I am paying for service that they interrupted, yet they think I can text them with responses! Save yourself A LOT of stress and go with a different carrier. My husband and I have tried to resolve this and after two days still no phone service. We can't even switch to another carrier because they won't give us the transfer number. The manager of the store with the new carrier we are going to was amazed at how horrible straight talk is. He spent over two hours trying to help us switch over. Next stop a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau. -5 stars would be a good rating for straight talk.
I can't say enough negative things in regards to my experience with this company.
To start with if you're going to port in your number good luck.
I spent 3 hours on the phone with customer service along with supposedly tech support
Gave the correct account number pin number and nobody seen to be able to figure out how to port in a number. I ended up having to get a new number and losing a number I had for 15 years to say I was angry as an understatement.
Next when I purchased the Galaxy a53 which is a 5G phone I was told by the store representative along with multiple customer service Representatives it's straight talk my home is in a 5G service area sure would be nice if straight talk customer service Representatives actually knew where the 5G service area actually was I drove in the same amount of miles figuring out where the 5G service area began turns out I live 60 miles from the beginning of 5G service my 4G service is spotty at best if I want decent data service I need to hop on my Wi-Fi which is definitely not what I am paying my service fee for.
I am seriously looking at other service providers.
These mother$#*!ers lied to me. Have told me multiple stories of how to transfer my number successfully to AT&T but they ask for the same info. They are desperate and they will eventually be out of business and they know this. They don't like Americans and try and take advantage of us with no remorse. 100 percent conacrtists. No worse than criminals on the street. Dogs of India. Serpent swindlers of pervasive tounges sliming into our time. Twisters of over played and warped thoughts. Absolute $#*!ing $#*! $#*!ing robots of India
There customer service is very poor, you can barely understand customer service no matter what language they speak unreliable products. And customer svc said will return calls as they state. DON'T BELIEVE THEM.
Have used StraighTalk for many years purchasing 1 year unlimited at a time. Never any issues... Until Verizon purchased them. Suddenly, phone will not work except for emergency calls. Phone is 5G compatible. Weeks of working with customer service, taking time off of work to visit representative at Walmart, purchasing new sim card... Not fixed problem. Was told that current month could not be refunded. Ended up switching carriers in order to have service. Now, StraighTalk refuses to refund my unused 6 monthes of service. If you have paid them, they will not refund anything even when they will not provide you with service. Their only fix suggestion if to buy new sim card and restart phone. They have ZERO other options. They have stolen $250+ from me, plus $ from hours missed from work. STAY AWAY!
I took my phone for a swim and it was toast, I decided to switch to verizon, and after speaking to them was told there would be no problem doing so. Then the fun began, contacting straight talk customer service, after 45 minutes I was connected with a person who could only be understood by her fellow countrymen, asked for a surervisor, was put on hpld while she transferred me, and anter five minutes of listening to how valuable my call was, I was hung up on. I spent another 20 minutes waiting on straight talk and got a agent that was a bit easier to understand, after giving all my information including the secret question she asked for my account number. Since I had never received a paper statement, I asked where I could find it and was told it was on line under my account information, NOPE not there, I spent over an hour talking to three of the most incompitent agents I have ever spoke to. Frustrated I turned to Verizon and she actually stayed on the phone with me as I called ST again, she was wonderfull and made the ST agents look stupid. Finally I was told that my account number was the number of my iphone. Wer'e not done yet, so after knowing my account number she said she would give the access code so my number woul be transferred. NOPE it didn't happen. I called Verizon and Nick called ST and was told that even after jumping through all the hoops, my phone wouldn't be released until Monday at 12 noon, thats two days later, now you know what you will be getting with Straight Talk, Nothing, Special thanks to Verizon help team Nae and Nick
Trying to use my old number plus add a current unlocked phone now I have no service on my old or new phone and waited 2 hours on hold with straight talk CS just for them to hang up on me. Im out of time to wait on the phone today and I have customers trying to contact me and im loosing buisness due to straight talk. Might cut my losses and use another carrier
We had auto refill on the phone. We canceled one phone then put it on a different phone. This is my sons phone. I did not realize he was paying with his credit card I pay the other credit card We continued to get charged for the phone that was canceled When I put a dispute and a block on the card the payment was sent through because the price was changed a few cents. I was told yes companies do this We thought canceled or block would stop the charges. Any phone company can see if you have used their service The canceled phone clearly wasn't used until my son thought he was using hotspot His boss told him this phone is on. He uses hotspot for his job once a day Because this is wrong I will be looking for a different company for the phone he is using when a company keeps telling you they don't see that you are being charged then changes a price when you put a block on them so they can continue to charge you this is so dishonest As I see it it is theft
This is my third time in the same daycontacting straight talk about my phone service. I have paid my bill and I still can't make any phone calls nor do I have internet access. I have spoke to someone twice and my issue has still not been resolved. I have waited on the phone for a total of over three hours and my issue has not been resolved. Worst phone company and help I have ever experienced. Now im back on hold for over an hour.
I spoke to different reps that all wanted to know my name but shockingly the one I talked to gave different names but sounded like same person. Breach of privacy from company that promised no contract. Yet by purchasing we should all be protected by usa laws. Someone at bbb should inform them of this. I mentioned to them I wanted reminders of when to refill as they gave in past. Despite this same person fielding and assuring me this was done nothing to date. Also the missing data from my phone is revealing. They need oversight. If not here than from legislators respectful of privacy laws. Minimally. Overreaching I'd ask for security and continuity of plans paid for in advance. Sounds like I'm not alone.
Had service for years and when service did not work away from home I wanted to take my number after 3 days and a tech from AT&T trying to help me move my number nothing worked. I think a CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT FOR ABOUT A BILLION DOLLARS SHOULD BE FILED AGAINST THEM! Thanks, Larry Burge Goodlettsville, TN
I've used straight talk for about a decade and haven't had too many problems. However, sometimes things like iMessages will just stop working on the iPhone and I have no idea why. Then I have to call their customer service phone number, since they have no physical stores, and speak with people in the Philippines who barely can speak English. It'll take so long to solve a simple problem and you'll have to keep calling and calling because they'll forget or not know how to solve the simple problem because they cannot understand simple English. I may switch to the big carriers - Verizon and T-Mobile - because they have great customer service and you can go in one of their many stores if you have carrier and even phone problems. Straight talk is only a little bit cheaper but you pay the price of them outsourcing all of their customer service to the Phillipines because that's the cheapest customer service workers in the world.
Don't waste your time with straight Talk. Go to any other service but this... horrible customer service if you can even get someone in the line within an hour. Service is spotty.
Answer: Cheaper than ATT for a landline. I never thought of the problems I am having trying to get service started. I don't know how they stay in business considering the gift fact that Verizon owns them.
Answer: I've been pretty consistently able to get a hold of them. As far as them being helpful not at all.
