Don't order online
July 27, 2022

I've had straight talk for years, never had a problem with their coverage until recently (weird but still good unless I"m in my house) - however, I ordered a phone online on saturday - didn't expect it to get processed until monday, but I really needed it so I requested overnight delivery.
It's now Wednesday, and my order is still pending fulfillment. I tried to cancel yesterday and today only to be told multiple times by multiple people that they CAN'T cancel the order (even though it's still in process), and that my only option is to refuse delivery of the package - whenever it gets shipped, which they also can't tell me when THAT will actually happen. I've chatted 3 folks, and spoken on the phone to one - no one was willing to help me out, or fix this issue. Now I have to wait on a package i no longer want, but will be charged for WHEN IT SHIPS EVENTUALLY to be delivered so I can request a return label and send it back to wait 3-5 days for processing, and up to 2 billing cycles for a refund.
Don't order online. NOT worth it.

The agents that answered my phone calls were not knowledgeable about the services they were rendering. I did not speak to one that truly understood me all together. My issue was that I was sent a Sim card from Straight talk to replace the sim in my phone that was in my phone which was a at&t compatible sim for straight talk. I did not have any issues before the Verizon card was inserted. After I inserted the Verizon card my phone went down hill. I could not figure out why some of my calls were not coming through so I put the old at&t sim card in one of my old phones and it was still active. My phone number shared two sim. I explained this to the agents and they kept asking me to reset my phone. Rest my phone. Why can't you get that my issue is not my phone but the two sim cards. They continued to tell me to wait 24 hours for my service to work. It has been 9 days today that I have not received phone calls on my phone. Oh I can make calls but receiving them is another story. Most of my text messages are also going to the other sim so I don't get them. The agents need training because this is unacceptable. The kicker for me was when I suggested to one of the agents that I may need another sim card.He told me I quote, " You need to go to Walmart and purchase another sim so we can get your phone to work". The reason my phone is not working is to no fault of mine and you want me to go buy a sim. No purchasing a. 99 cent sim is not a problem but why was it not offered to me. I have been with straight talk since 2009 and I honestly thought I would stay, but I can surly say that after this experience I will be finding another plan elsewhere soon. Finding people that know what they are doing and are passionate about the work they do is a must when working with customers. I do it every day and I can toot my own horn and say I know I am good at what I do. I needed to get my experience out and pray that my issue is resolve before my service end date is over. I am just tired. I will not recommend any one else to Straight talk and they 30 plus people that have followed me to straight talk over the years will be leaving with me.

I have had straight talk for 5 years. My data has gotten slower customer service is almost impossible to talk to. I waited on chat for 69 people in front of me it took forever but it was important I spoke to someone. It got through 63 people and disconnected. I had to spend more money because my card didn't go through. I had to buy another 45$ card because I couldn't reach anyone to complain. I have had it with this service. I pay for 2 phones and we are going to switch service. I have a 3 year old child I can't keep buying more phone cards because no one will help me in service dept. i threw out the junk card no one ever answers for customer service. I don't care about a refund now. It's just time to switch companies.

Switching carriers
July 25, 2022

-5 stars. Straight talk has no warning that you cannot switch carriers without a service plan active. Thieves

Was a good customer until I decided to switch service providers I had auto refill and switched 3 days after they took my payment. I contacted straight talk for a refund on the 27 days that I would not be using their service and was told I could not get a refund because I had ported out my number. So this giant company decided they could just keep my money for services that I was not even using.

They dropped my cell service after 6 years of loyalty. I was using ATT towers which worked great for many years, then boom they told me I had to switch to Version. I told them there is no version towers in my area so I got the ring around until my service was ultimately dropped WITHOUT warning while in ALASKA!... just when i needed them the most. They purposely disconnect you when transferring you. This is a tactic to deter you from getting the help you need. They love to screw with you to by giving wrong or misleading info. Many of them don't speak good English and you will be very lucky if you get someone who knows what's going on. Not only could I not continue my service I JUST paid for, for the month, but they couldn't even transfer my old phone number to my new carrier, AT&T. The website crashes often and the main login page doesn't even work. I'm just happy to be done with DUMBTALK and I was able to stop the auto refill.

Not only did they shut my new phone down yesterday, locked up 2 Sims cards, had me buy a whole new kit ($70), to then try to lock my phone up again today! Also let me point out that they changed my phone number I've had for 7yrs and will not give it back, nor give me the unlock code to switch to att. DO NOT BUY STRAIGHT TALK!

Had been with Straight Talk for approximately 5 years. I liked the service and appreciated the fact that the bill was always the same. HOWEVER when I got a better deal with Cricket, I decided to switch carriers. When I first called Straight Talk about stopping service, I was told that I was "under contract" (keep in mind there are no contracts with Straight Talk). I decided to wait a few months and try again. This time was told "there are no contracts, so 'yes", you can switch carriers." Went to Cricket - the customer service rep there spent approximately 1 1/2 hours on the phone w/ Straight Talk getting all of the "necessary" information to make the switch. I spoke to the ST agent as well. After getting confirmation that I could take my number with me, the Cricket agent discovered that the new SIM card wouldn't work. She told me to go home, call ST and ask them to unlock the phone. After spending another 2 hours and 9 different agents, I was told that I wasn't eligible for a "free" unlock and I would have to pay $300 to unlock my phone. After a much heated discussion, I was told this was because I had gotten a new phone approximately 2 years earlier and I had "failed to register the device with Straight Talk." So then I was told that they couldn't unlock it until the phone was "registered". The "registration" was a matter of asking me my name and address. Didn't even ask about the phone at all. The customer service rep then had the gal to suggest that I trade my phone in for an unlocked one in order to avoid the $300 unlock fee. This is obviously a scam. I attempted to file a complaint w/ Straight Talk and why I did receive a reply from them, they simply wanted me to call them to get re enroll with Straight Talk. When I did call to try to speak to a human, I was number 111 in queue. Don't think I plan to wait 2 hours to have me re enroll with a fee to start up again. THIS IS A SCAM and if I could I think I'd try to file a class action lawsuit b/c I am sure I never received anything in writing stating that if I got t a new phone and failed to "register" it that I would be fined $300 to unlock it.

Paid for international calling for months and never was able to make a call to Mexico. Tried multiple times and called for support and it didn't help and contacted straighttalk on Facebook messenger and guided process and reset phone and still didn't work. On messenger I was told they were contacting a higher department and i was never contacted again. Then called today to remove autopay, as we got a new phone and company, and I requested a partial refund since I paid extra for services I didn't receive and was told they don't do that. So, in short, false advertising.

I wish there were negative stars. I promise you that you will need customer service from them, and it's the worst experience I've ever had with customer service. I'm writing the review as I sit here on hold and wait. I've been on hold for 2 hrs. And still no one. I promise you that if you go with this company you will kick your own $#*! for doing it. If you read this and continue to go with this company, you will think back on this review and wish you would have listened.

Caught Off Guard
July 19, 2022

I have had Straight Talk service for years and have had sporadic issues. This latest issue is the final straw for me. My service cut off in the middle of the day and I could not get it to work again. I contacted customer support only to be told that I need a new sim card and that my current sim card's service is terminated. I was at work trying to figure this out only to be told I'm out of luck and that it was on me for not knowing that they changed providers. I would have gladly changed services if I was informed of such changes. The agent pretty much told me there is nothing to do but wait for a new sim card that would be sent by them.

So when I brought my own phone to straight talk the Verizon SIM card I bought was broke so they used the AT&T one instead and was going to send a new Verizon one well during the port over they entered the sim information wrong and after three days they finally figured that out after multiple calls to them well it's now been three months I haven't received the new SIM card yet and after buying my minutes my phone stopped working so we called about a dozen of times and kept getting hung up on until one finally told us that my SIM card in my phone has been deactivated by them so now I have no phone and will not have one for a week so honestly this company is nothing but issues yes they are decent priced but with the amount of headaches you will get it's not worth it

Horrible
July 19, 2022

My husband had this carrier and everything was fine until suddenly his phone had no network. It would not connect to the network whatsoever. He called and talked to customer service for hours and they could never fix it. They were all very nonchalant and kept telling him to turn the phone on and off, take out the sim, etc. stuff that we surely have already tried before calling. Once he decided to cut ties with them they would not effectively tie things up on their end. Don't get this carrier.

Would start with the good part of my review but I absolutely CAN NOT bc of how pitiful and slack this back alley, low budget, Fisher Price generic wireless service continues to disappoint! Seems they pride themselves in being morons. I want to know HOW FREAKING DIFFICULT IS IT TO GIVE ME ACCESS TO ALL THE FEATURES OF MY PLAN! ALL I WANT IS WTF I PAY FOR... hell it's your package that straight talk decided the terms and services. EVERY SINGLE FUC---G TIME I refill my service $55 GOLD UNLIMITED. Includes 15 GB of HOTSPOT, and I am NEVER ABLE TO USE IT BC THE IDIOTS " your plan does not support mobile tethering!; YES IT DOES MORONS! So I have to contact customer service EVERY SINGLE TIME to get my hotspot. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? You should be embarrassed to have such a chump $#*! service as well as customer satisfaction. I'd be embarrassed if I couldn't provide the most basic service... DO NOT MAKE THINGS MORE DIFFICULT, STRESSFUL, FRUSTRATING FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS. DUH! When I purchase my refill plan, every feature of that plan should be ready for my use... But IT NEVER, EVER, EVER IS. ARENT YALL EMBARASSED? HOW ABOUT CONCERNED. I leaving straight talk bc I think y'all can do much better and you just do not have the integrity or sense of obligation. How sad

DONT GET A KEEP YOUR OWN PHONE SIM ACTIVATION KIT. IT HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE! ITS JUST NOT WORTH IT. I HAVE BEEN ON THE PHONE WITH THEM AT LEAST 7 TIMES IN THE PAST 2 DAYS AND STILL NOTHING. THEY DONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND DONT INFORM YOU OF ANYTHING. ITS REALLY QUITE SAD. WE ARE WILLING TO GIVE UP THE $110 DOLLARS WE SPENT FOR TWO PHONES JUST TO STAY WITH OUR OLD CARRRIE AND PAY MORE.
