HORRIBLE - FED UP
January 5, 2026

I had an absolutely horrible experience with Straight Talk customer service.
I was trying to activate a new phone and spent 35 minutes on the phone with an agent I could barely understand. The representative's speech was largely unintelligible, which made an already frustrating situation significantly worse. After all that time, the call was disconnected with no callback and no resolution.
I then spent another 15 minutes struggling through the automated system, which was somehow even more stressful than the customer service itself. The system asks you to verify your identity, provide IMEI numbers, receive verification codes, and confirm it is your phone number. Once you finally reach a human, they ask you the exact same questions all over again. It is redundant, inefficient, and infuriating.
The second agent then tried to set me up with an account, something I can easily do online and specifically did not want to do over the phone. I was not comfortable giving security questions and personal information to someone I could barely understand, especially when that information could be used to take over my phone number. I have been using Straight Talk for far longer than I should have, and I have never been asked to do this before.
What followed was a miserable back and forth where I repeatedly explained that I did not want to proceed that way, and the agent continued pushing it anyway.
Yes, there was eventually a light at the end of the tunnel, but it came an hour and a half later. No customer should have to waste that much time just to activate a phone.
This company's customer service is unbelievably bad.
Next phone, I am out.

Straight Talk is a scam
December 29, 2025

I bought the BLU Blaze 5G hotspot device through Straight Talk and not even 24 hours later my hotspot was gone/used up. I only had 1 single device connected to it for a small amount of time. When I called straight talk and tried to get information about why my service/hotspot was gone in less than 24 hours, they couldn't tell me anything and when I refused to pay to refill it already I was hung up on twice! TWICE! The third time I called I asked where to return it and since I bought it from the straight talk website, I was told an address in TN and that I had to pay for return shipping and a restocking fee, I was like oh wow. So while talking to this guy who could barely speak English I looked at the box it was shipped in and there was a label on the side that said return with a totally different name and a totally different address to return it to. So I asked him if this was a return label and he said yes. I was like well it has a different address then you gave and he said well you can $#*! it there too. I think he was trying to screw up my return. I will NEVER go through Straight Talk again. It would've cost me more than going through a normal company. At $25 a day, since it lasted less than 24 hours and I only had 1 device hooked up to it, that would have cost me $750 + taxes for a whole month of service. I am so good on that. Yeah I would save more money by signing up for the most expensive internet service out there. Oh and I also have to pay a $9.99 return fee and a $9.99 restocking fee, so out of the $49.99 I paid for this junk, I am not even getting all of my money back now. Plus I am out the service card I paid for too. I say DO NOT USE STRAIGHT TALK. IT IS A SCAM COMPANY. Tomorrow I am going to T-Mobile, where I should have went in the first place. STRAIGHT TALK IS A SCAM.

I just got a straight talk cell phone and activated it during the same conversation I told customer service that my ZIP code and my area code correlate with the 480 area code. She gave me a 602 area code and a 623 area code and stated she cannot help me any further. That what she gave me is what I'm stuck with. I told her that I had to do with me getting my health insurance and still keeping it. That the area codes that she gave me 602 and or 623 put me living in Maricopa county which I do not. I live in pinal county. Which is 480. My ZIP code correlates with 480. Then this same customer service representative straight talk actually stated to me bluntly, she didn't completely lie to me. I was in shock and still am. My health insurance revolves on round where I live. So does my area code for my phone number. So I'm about to lose my health insurance because of this little snafui. This seems to be rocket science and brain surgery to straight talk customer service representatives. I also work off of using my phone. Now it's stating I live in Maricopa county and I'm about to lose my job. Do not I repeat do not use straight talk. I finally got a hold of a supervisor. He bluntly stated 480 is no longer available using straight talk. So remember this and do not use straight talk.

Beware horrible scam company! If change carriers they won't give you pin so you have to change phone numbers. My daughter had same number for years and had to get a completely different phone number because straight talk kept her on phone for hours verifying over and over and over to get a TRANSFER PIN It's a scam! Never go with this company!

Straight talk should be defunded. Don't even try. Try to sell your phone. I recently got told off violently by a "supervisor" through straight talk from the Philippines after being on the phone for two hours trying to get resolution. Leave straight talk. This guy sounded like a thug. I actually feel frightened for my life. And reporting seems to do nothing. I reported to fcc and BBB, nothing. They will abuse you and do nothing about it.

The worst service
April 13, 2024
Previous review

Very poor warranty service. Terrible phone representatives constantly apologizing for wait times. Buying a warranty is basically pointless. Support lines are just terrible and it took 1.5 hours just to get a shipping label that I still have not received. It has been 10 days after they indicated I would wait 3-5 days for a label/package to get sent to my door. I had to call 3 times and even did an online chat. I had to buy another phone because these people are completely useless! I was transfered to a higher up technician and they did not have the tools to help me there either. I had to give them my number 3 times on one phone call. So pathetic. It has been 12 days I still don't have a shipping label or an email for the third time.

It appears that Straight Talk wireless is a complete ripoff. I have no working phone. This is the second cell phone I have purchased in 6 months. Neither phone will activate. Both phone claim to be made by tracfone but then say they work with T-Mobile or StraightTalk Wireless. Walmart Corporation sold me one phone and Dollar General sold me the other phone. I still am with NO working phone. I will not provide proof of purchase because I will not share my personal banking information on sitejabber.

Bad service
June 8, 2024

You should not be able to call the company like 6 times in a month or two because of the data or the phone itself. Like I called about my shipping because it was a defective phone, and I call them saying "hey my phone isn't working like the way it's suppose to" they be asking me for my email adress and I give them they send a form of what to do THE EMAIL THEY SENT DIDN'T EVEN WORK. So I called them again saying hey the email didn't work. At the point I called them and they said " Oh yeah we have to send you the box". Like dude I have it in a box and tapted up and all that. So, I had to Untaped the whole thing and wait for almost a WHOLE month for the thing to come. It's just to frustrating to deal with. 👎

Let's take action

After having problems with Straight Talk, and reading the reviews, it is obvious that they (with a few exceptions) will only go so far to help. If the problem is much harder than a reboot or changing a few settings, then their answer is to frustrate the customer until the customer gives up.
Well, let's not give in. Keep after them as much as possible. Write to the FCC and your state AG with a complaint. Contact the maker of your phone. Their reputation is also on the line. Are there any lawyers that want to start a class action suit? Any other suggestions?

I called and refilled my service on March 7. They charge me twice because they "automatically puts you back on AutoPay". WRONG! You do not have the right to do that. So, I paid for 2 months, which puts my service through May 2. Okay, I can live with that. Then, they charged me again on April 5, AFTER I told them DO NOT PUT ME ON AUTOPAY. I again removed myself from AutoPay, however, now they will not honor the additional month. I am currently disputing it with my bank as I have paid for 3 months now and only have 2 months of service. DO NOT purchase a card over the phone. Buy one at Walmart and do it yourself. They are thieves! I am seriously considering going back to AT&T, and that is a whole other headache in itself. I just want a simple phone and should not have these issues.

I purchased a brand new straight talk cell phone from Walmart. Activated the phone. It's never worked. I have called straight talk numerous times. Still have not fixed the problem. Then I was told I had to get another cell phone with another number, so the corporate office technician could fix my new cell phone. Within three days, I called them over ten times. I bought another new cell from straight talk. I just had it activated. Had same problems. I called in. Thank God they fixed the issue. But the first new cell. My work phone, still doesn't work. Customer service, stated it was not activated correctly. I used the customer service activation. So now. I have to wait 24 hours. For then to reactivate my brand new sim. In my brand new phone. Another day without work. Then if that doesn't work. They want me to wait another 5 days so they can mail me a new sim. Instead of just going to Walmart and buying one.

Terrible company
February 20, 2024

The worst customer service on the planet. Customer service reps speak English but frequently not well enough that they follow a conversation. Cannot solve problems and do not escalate to someone who can. Additionally straight talk prices have become average at best. Avoid this terrible company.

I have been with Straight Talk for about 20 years and lived their service until recently when overnight my phone wouldn't make any calls
I had the internet and could receive calls and send and receive text messages. This had gone on for about 5 days. I had called and spoke with 5 reps and 2 supervisors and none of them helped me fix the problem. Finally I told myself that I would try one more time and if it couldn't be resolved I would switch companies. I called and was connected with Angela,(I think) and explained to her my situation and that I had performed all of the tests that they had so I didn't have much faith, even after her reassuring me that she would help me fix it. And she began directing me in a way none of the other reps had and within 5 minutes, my phone was working again. All it was, was that I didn't have my WiFi calling on. Simple. I love using Straight Talk and am so grateful to this reps for fixing the problem. My only complaint is that all of the others that tried to help me prior to Angela should've known how to do this as well. I hope that they train all of their reps to be able to have the same knowledge as her. She definitely deserves a pay raise. Thank you again.

I've had Straighttalk for over a decade. Never a dropped call. Excellent service, unlimited data. Now that Verizon has bought the company, it's a struggle most days to get a signal. This is not coincidence. ST accessed the nearest available towers; primarily AT&T and Verizon, as well as some smaller carriers. The point is, if coverage from an AT&T tower was limited during peak traffic times, your signal would be picked up by another available tower. Now, all we've got is Verizon; and my connection has never been crappier. Because when all you have are the towers of one greedy corporation, you not only lose the luxury of access, you are low priority to a carrier with customer contracts. So much for competition in the open market.
