There's something very, very wrong at Square. They are abusing their Business customers, withholding funds for unreasonable amounts of time, unfairly closing accounts and all without warning or reason. They have people calling you and using their name to invest money. Have a questionable stranglehold on the market. In bed with Facebook to the point of Censorship.
Discrimination built into their verification process. No help for the disabled anf Refusal to accommodate the disabled.
Square is also in violation of the Credit Reporting Act or the Fair Credit Billing Act.
If you look, thousands of citizen consumers are all having these issues.
It seems Square thinks it's all powerful and can do this en mass now.
And when someone needs assistance and complains, there is purposely no way to get ahold of anyone.
Some one should do something about this. Probably time for someone to look into a class action lawsuit.
Square took money from our new business account. A recent new startup business. They claimed it was from a different business that was closed long ago, that was in someone else's name. It had nothing to do with us. We provided them with all the documentation they requested yet they kept trying to debit the account, costing us a lot of money in fees. We were eventually forced to close the account just to stop them from attempting to debit it. Fortunately the bank manager had been through this with customers who use Square before and sided with us.
The Square "Customer Success" team was absolutely horrific. It literally took weeks to speak to a real person. They lied to us multiple times, on recorded calls. Even telling us, more than once, that the "Recovery Team" doesn't have phones (yes, they actually said that) So, were have never been allowed to talk to anyone who knows why they are taking money.
We have, to date, spent over 40 hours trying to resolve this issue with Square. Finally, after nearly two months a real person called. He, even said that the "Recovery Team" doesn't have phones. Ridiculous!
The end result of the conversation was they still refuse to pay us back what they cost us and still insist we somehow owe them money, but they'd give us a credit and forgive us our debt.
The thing is, we DON'T owe them. Never have. Quite the opposite.
Square needs to square up with us.
Their system is easy to use but if have a problem the customer service is the worst. They scam and do not protect you. No one gives answers other then what is written on a format they cannot think for themselves. Chargeback, forget it you lost even if you have everything to back it up. They pass it to the bank and do not fight for you at all. And when you call to get answers they just say we apologize and repeat what you say. Never a resolution to your answer. I think they just don't care because they got so big. Guess what Helcim is awesome, better rates and people you can speak to anytime with real answers #helcim
I can't believe pay pal has anything to do with this scaming forum I have been waiting last Saturday for my first pay. PAY PAL needs to up there game I can't believe "PayPal works with these fraudsters "
Have used Square for 5 years now, never had an issue - recently had my account frozen and the refused to transfer funds in the amount of $5584. 99 - been calling for 10 days, frequent transfers from one dept to another - no answers, lots of apologies but are refusing to release - received emails saying funds are being transferred but they NEVER are - AVOID at all costs - this company is simply the WORSt I have ever experienced in my professional career. Taking legal action. Ever tried calling corporate and CEO -no call back - Jack Dorsey you are a deceitful despicable human being.
SQUARE IS A HORRIBLE COMPANY BEWARE... my account was hacked in February 2021, once I found out and tried to contact, I got this screen where it says phone contact currently unavailable... this is specific to my account, I emailed and tried to live chat... to this day not one email has been answered... I did get a call from them 5 days later, but it was because I had to close my bank account to keep them from pulling money out of it from the bogus charges the hacker had loaded on a digital card that I never activated... they owe me over $200... I have been able to call them after that without generating a code, saying it recognizes my phone number... I just talked to Miles, June 7th... where he put me on hold for appx 20 min... checked back 4x then the call dropped, from their end... I now am blocked again... generates a code that when I use, says not valid and now says PHONE CONTACT UNAVAILABLE... IF YOU HAVE A HACKING ISSUE THIS COMPANY WILL SCREW YOU!
They are 1000 of companies and banks who do much much better than square and with square there's no one to really help u so stick with a normal bank
Square is an absolute garbage company. Zero communication, zero support, rates get hiked arbitrarily, bank transfers frozen with no warning or reason. These guys are thieves. Wish I could give them zero stars for wasting my and my business's time.
Stay away, it appears to be a scam. No customer service, all computer virtual nonsense, no way to trying to solve problems except a virtual chat of no help, info to close account is bogus, leads to no links. Entering any bank info is very risky.
Do NOT use SQUARE! Very poor customer service----They will not connect you to any department you need to speak with! If you are a thief, you will love this service, because SQUARE does not investigate chargebacks, and will always side with the person doing the chargeback, no matter the evidence you provide! I had 2 customers dead to rights! I do not think that SQUARE even sends the evidence to the other merchant! DO NOT USE AT ALL COSTS!
I had a phishing attempt with my account so went to reset my password. Well the email wasn't getting to me, so I had to contact customer support with a ticket. The "Square Customer Success" member, Osvin H, gave me access to an account I DON'T OWN. Similar registration email address, but it is not mine (*******@gmail.com is not my email address).
Beware, square has incompetent staff that are a security breach waiting to happen. It would not surprise me to find out some of their staff are the ones benefiting from the phishing attempts.
I have attached photos of myself logged into Kenneth's account that Square has given me access to. They did email the correct email (sweeneygw********@gmail.com) for the support ticket so there is no way there should be this mix up.
I received and email on Sept 22 2020 saying my account was deactivated and any funds on my account will be release in 90 days! LOL today is 12/29/2020 and no email from Square or even phone calls! If somebody is going through this please contact me.

Out of the blue they asked for bank documents and without any notice or reason deactivated my account holding $455 for four months. No one will talk to you. STAY AWAY! I sell on Gunbroker and that's what probably scared them. 2A!
We paid for and setup an e-commerce website including manually installing hundreds of items for purchase, publish the site, everything looked fine.
When we went to use the site, Square indicated they deactivated our e-commerce part of the site without explanation and would not converse with us to why.
We then tried to disable the registrar transfer feature to enable transferring the site to another hosting company; Square would not allow this either.
We are now in the process of trying to get our money back from Square.
We would not recommend doing business with a nefarious company such as Square.
Square has been giving us the runaround for months in their customer service system and now they are flat out refusing to make essential amendments to our tax documents, which is absolutely unheard of for a payroll service. They claim their little department of accountants simply can't handle it, as though they are some small business and we should let them off the hook. Square is a multi-billion dollar company, they can hire enough accountants to do their job! We have to pay an outside accountant to fix the mistake so that our employee doesn't have incorrect W2s.
They also force all invoicing we do through their system to say that our "preferred payment method" is paying by credit card through Square, so that they can take a 3.9% cut of all our earnings. They didn't have a system set up to get tax credit reimbursements for emergency COVID leave when MA shut down in the Spring. Since they refuse to do amendments, they told us to illegally lie and put the paid COVID leave through now even though our staff are working again.
As long as everything is going perfectly, Square is fine. Decent platform and good price. As soon as any problem needs to be addressed, they are a garbage fire of a disaster and will sweet talk you on the customer service line and then essentially tell you to F*ck off because they're big and rich enough to ignore your needs.
Beware it is a scam. They have taken $8900. 00 of my hard earned money. But one good thing is I have good lawyers hopefully it results in a class action suit
This company is not secure! My $12.000 is stolen! I can't get any answer! No body talks to me about this and when i call they always say We will call you! And they never call. I thought this is a big company whom cares about their customers! Totally not recommend!
RIP OFFS!* this company allows people to fraudulently charge an account, and then does not provide for the ability to call and report it. All part of the scheme i'm sure. Call the 800# and get nowhere. Call their other numbers and they take your phone number for a call back saying that the\ place in que will not be lost... of course, i'm still waiting...
We had to change bank accounts they now have over *******£ of our money and will not release it to our new bank account we have sent 34 bank statements and numerous emails but still after weeks the money has still not gone in change to sum up and money was in faster and lower transfer rate please be very careful this is not the business way forward
Several months ago our account was canceled. As I remember, it was because of suspicious use or something related? As the President, 12 years, Corporation and an CPA accounting firm that handles all of our accounting, Military certified, State certified, BBB A+ and more credentials, etc. We strongly disagree with your assessments last year. And recently I paid one of our sub-contractors who had a Square account and his company experienced all manner of complications, possible due to our company paying him on his Square account. (have you censored us?)We are a General Contractors Management Firm with over $200k paid out last year to small business subcontractors and I am very sorry Square accused us of some sort of (actually not sure)

Answer: Square is a legit company, just a deeply unethical one that will leave you out to dry if they can get away with it. And they can get away with it.
Answer: No, I can't, because they're a garbage company that can't verify my identity, even with my SSN and repeated support requests, and refuses to even look at my ID. I would love to share a success story, too bad they won't let me have one.
