Bought a treadmill - when it came for a claim, they told me to haul it to a "repair shop" and then they would pay me back. ARE YOU KIDDING? First where do you find a treadmill repair shop and why should I lug a several hundred pound machine. Total waste of money.
I bought a phone and then an aftermarket warranty from Square trade. The phone quit working so I contacted them about warranty service. They refused to honor the warranty because I did not buy the warranty from the same place I bought the phone. Well the phone store didn't offer a warranty! I then asked for a refund of the warranty cost as they had never intended to honor it. They refused that too. Finally gave me $10 back. Just a warning to others! Buy the warranty from the vendor you buy the item from or it is no good. I suspect from other reviews that even if you do they will weasel out of paying.
I purchased an office chair from Staples, and purchased the Square Trade 3 year warranty. After less than a year, the chair was leaning to one side and an arm was very loose. I filed a claim with Square Trade, but was told I had to wait one year. I filed a claim on line and never hear back from Square Trade.
Fast forward to over three years later, I found the old Staples receipt in an old box while cleaning up files. I contacted Square Trade for my warranty payment. They said there is no record of me filing a claim and since it's past three years from the date of purchase, there's nothing they can do.
Well, if you purchase a 3 year warranty, and file a claim in say 10 months, why would Square Trade not stand behind the warranty? The reason given to me today was, "Within one year the manufacturer will support the problem". Really? I don't know who made the chair. It was purchased at Staples.
A three year warranty is really a two year warranty. Bait and Switch. State Attorney General should investigate.
Made a claim for my daughters Lenovo IdeaPad, sent product then a week later received the product back, basically play Stay Band-Aid to the product as a repair. I had a to send the product back for repairs a second time for the issue. Then. Two to nearly 3 weeks I received back the product without my accessories that I sent with the product, now I have to wait another week to two weeks for my accessories, get your $#*! together people.
Square trade unethical Business is for making big profit and not looking out for The consumer. This company needs to be shut down for its unethical business practices. Seek other warranty company stay away from SquareTrade. They do not answer emails and will steal your money.
I bought a phone in March 2021 on Ebay. The phone has a 1 yr manufacturer guaranty and I paid for 1 yr insurance thru squaretrade. Everything fine til Dec 2021 when my screen went black. Trying to file a claim online was difficult because they could not find my policy. Finally got a hold of a rep only to directed to the manufacturer, Lg. Lg directed me back to Squaretrade who wanted to know the name of the rep from Lg. I forgot the reps name. The lady I was speaking with at Squaretrade insisted the insurance was void because I dropped the phone about a week after the screen went black. I explained the screen went black first and had nothing to do with me dropping it. She said the drop may have caused more damage. You would have to open the phone up to determine the problem. Nope. They wont even bother with it. Squaretrade is refusing to honor the insurance I paid for based on something there is no proof of. They are a total scam. Squaretrade rips people off. I will never buy Squaretrade again nor will I suggest anyone buy insurance from them. My entire experience has been such a nightmare I will never buy a phone thru Ebay again. Squaretrade is a scam.
Sent my item into square trade and they kept it wouldn't fix it they're an awful company. I would advise that you do not use square trade. In my item was an xbox series X that I could not replace.
I recently filed a claim for a product that I purchased with a warranty through SquareTrade. I filed a claim process was simple enough but when I was given the amount that they would give me which was below the purchase price. The customer service representative Ross told me that they do not issue the entire purchase price because I was getting a Instant Credit. But if I'd like I can shipping The product out of pocket to their company and if they are Not able to repair it they will send me the full purchase price. I purchased the warrantee so that I can do things at my leisure not affairs I will not be purchasing another Square trade warranty
I tried for months to file a valid phone repair claim. Tried via chat, via email. Provided all the receipts. Then they told me I had to call a number, after I provided everything they wanted via email. Their game is to just delay, delay, delay. They have no intention of ever paying claims. If I could give zero stars, I would. What a waste of money.
I have had a terrible experience with squaretrade. It has been over a month since I sent my phone in the mail for repairs and the team never proactively gave me updates. All of the timeframes I was given have been extremely delayed with no explanation. I have been offered no compensation or resolution for anything. I have had to call 3 times for updates and everyone I spoke to provided me very little support. I would rather pay full price to repair my phone than deal with this process again. I definitely do not suggest you pay for this service unless you are happy to wait months and months and spend countless hours following the team up.
I was issued a check for a tv that I had covered, when I took it to Walmart to cash (that's where I bought the tv) they told me the check was invalid, I called square trade they told me I had to take the check to a wells Fargo bank to cash. I told them there is not one within 100 miles of my home and they told me that if I did not take the check to the wells fargo bank I would not be able to cash it. The customer service department was not helpful and I would not refer them to anyone. There are to many other insurance company's out there to wast your time on this one.
So my son cracked his tablet, not even a month after having it. We also had a case on it and a tempered glass screen protector. Their 2 choices were to give me less money than it was worth or send me a new one. Well I said send me a new one, now they are trying to say they can't send me that one and now are trying to force me to take the less money option.
Both times I have had to use this I have had to talk more than 3 agents then provide video proof of the malfunction. Then was suggested that I repair an appliance that was just over a month old! Swindlers just as the rest of insurance companies. Have something blocking my emails as well I have never had trouble emailing anyone yet when I email proof the messages are somehow all quered.
So I purchased a TV and purchased the extended warranty (squaretrade by Allstate). Recently had the colors in middle of screen being dull. I have seen this referred to as "pixel burn". Started claim process and went through all the steps asked of me. Received an email tonight from Allstate basically telling me my issue was not covered by my plan. Seriously? I would understand if my issue was caused by me, but it wasn't. Note the picture of an all yellow screen and how the center is green. Evidently this is my fault and not covered under the WARRANTY I PURCHASED!
I will never again purchase or recommend anyone to purchase a warranty through Squaretrade. I purchased a PS5 console through Walmart and payed retail $499. I spent months trying to get the console, so when I finally got one I purchased the extended warranty through Squaretrade for piece of mind. One year later the disk drive stops working so I filed a warranty claim and sent in the console to be repaired. This is a very simple repair to do on these consoles, plug and play disk drive, so I expected no issues. A few days later, the company emails me and says my console is beyond repair and they can't replace it for the price I payed so they send me a $499 Walmart gift card. This would have been nice if my console had been for sale but it wasn't. My warranty contract through Squaretrade clearly states repair or replace. I didn't want a refund, I wanted a repair or replace and they refused both options. I called customer support and spoke to two managers to try and get my original console back, I didn't care if it was repaired or not and I didn't want the refund because these consoles are very hard to get. Both managers refused to send my console back. They did refund the price I payed for the warranty but only after I stayed on the phone with them for an hour. So In my opinion, this warranty would be good for someone who is ok with only receiving a refund for their item. If you buy a next gen console from Walmart and purchase the extended warranty through Squaretrade, there's a good chance you won't get it back when you have to send it in for a simple 10 minute repair. I'm leaving a honest 0 star customer review
I got some joycon controllers that started premature battery problems. I was able to file a claim and finish it in a day. Then the check to cover most of its price came in just a couple days without me having to send the controllers. I will use them again.
They couldn't answer basic questions and transferred me to Walmarts online customer service and then the physical store to try to get the serial number of the product (neither place could tell me that info) then they tell me that there is nothing they can do since I need to contact the manufacturer first, which they couldn't tell me what the manufacturer was either. I then got a little angry with them because what is the point of buying the protection plan when if I knew the manufacturer they will cover the product defects (mines covered for five years through the manufacturer I found out through my own search with no help from them but I bought a two year protection plan which is redundant). Not to mention they were being completely rude and unhelpful at every turn and the last thing they want to do is just give you your money back for the product. Its completely a scam they literally don't do or cover anything and this hasn't been my first bad experience with them. Just save your money and don't buy the protection plan through them.
I signed up in 2019 because of the hype, better than all, no deductible easier, etc. Now its 2022 and ive been paying $24,99 per month and my son cracked his screen, after being on the computer for 3 or ore hours, I see they denied my claim, I didn't have receipt because I bought online, the deductible is $149, and the same plan is now $19.99. When I told them I was canceling, they didn't even care. Dont buy, waste of time and $$
It's currently 8 PM and I have been on and off the phone with SquareTrade since 4. This has been such a terrible experience. So, let's start off with the fact that they couldn't "find" my claim. And hours later, It was found. I have called 6 different different numbers and talked to a total of 7 different assisoates. Then, they find my claim & tell me, that my laptop (mind you, I had already called HP and tried to trouble-shoot with them). That I have to send my product in. I have drive to my nearest Fed-Ex, use a box, get bubble-wrap, and send it through. BUT, it's hassle-free, right? Because, they offer a free shipping label?
My issue is that I don't have a printer, and was suggested I once more- drive to my nearest library.
SO, then. At this point it's 7:30, I'm dead-tired, and I tell them "FINE".
Then, I go to my email where the "free shipping label is". And what happens? It states "access denied". Yay!:(
I call back, wait. And get told to try it on a different system. OH, you mean the system that is broken? Ok, let me do that. NOT.
I then have to download Google Chrome after being told to try a different browser. SHOCKER! It doesn't work! At this point, I've tried Safari, Google and Google Chrome.
What is their solution? To send another email!
The same thing happened! WHAATT?
At this point, I have basically broken down, I'm stressing. Because something that I use everyday for work is now broken, I was told I have to wait for the repair, and NOW, I have to wait for another email so that the SAME thing will happen.
Their solution to if the email is still not working, is to have Fed-Ex attempt to print it? You mean with the non-working link?
I couldn't NOT recommend this more! It's sucked, and I wouldn't wish anyone to have to deal with this company.
So annoyed!
So I bought a razor from eBay put a warranty on it for a SquareTrade. After a few months the razor was faulty. Contacted square trade they said they can't help contact China what a waste I'm out my razor and the $3 and change I spent for the warranty.
Answer: Company takes forever doing anything. Refuses refunding when it cant repair something and will make up an excuse to void the warranty.
Answer: Its quite easy online. Just dont expect them to actually help you.
Answer: It was the only one offered at the time of purchase.
Answer: There was a class action suit, that they lost. https://webservices.courthousenews.com/sites/Data/AppellateOpinionUploads/2023-02-3--14-06-19-320cv2725.pdf
