False advertising and bad customer service

Do not order from Spirit Halloween online. Their idea of 2-Day shipping apparently takes 8 days total (from order placed to expected delivery), and 5 business days to ship. They will not refund you for shipping if your order is very late. I ordered items on Sunday, Oct. 23 at just past 10:00 a.m. PT and my tracking time for (supposedly) USPS Priority shipping changed from arriving Friday, Oct. 28 (when I need my items) to Monday, Oct. 31. They also won't send you text updates as requested. The package, for all I know, is still stuck in Indiana, even though it shipped out Tuesday evening on Oct. 25.

When I called customer service to ask how this qualifies as 2-Day shipping (and admittedly, complain), I was hung up on (I think). The second try yielded slightly better results, but the rep insisted my order was on time and that Priority shipping takes 3-5 business days. No, it does not. That is not the standard timeframe, which is 1-3 business days. My order is taking 5 business days (won't even arrive on Saturday even though USPS delivers on Saturdays). And to think, this "2-Day" shipping would've normally cost $22.49 if it weren't for their false promo advertising 2-Day shipping before Halloween (at the time I ordered) for $10. They lure you in thinking your stuff will arrive on time, but it will really take much longer. My case isn't even nearly the worst I've seen; other reviewers have waited weeks, months, or never received their orders at all—with no refunds. The only point in their favor I can give is that Spirit Halloween did try to call back twice after I was put on hold forever, but I didn't recognize the number at first. They likely wouldn't have offered any shipping refund or explanation, however, since their policy seems to be to blame or gaslight customers and do everything possible not to issue even partial refunds, even when it's their own fault. I would not recommend Spirit Halloween. For prosthetics and special effects makeup, try Tinsley Transfers instead, with whom I've had no problems yet.

I placed an order for my children's costumes on September 19, I received an e-mail the following day indicating they had shipped. When trying to track the parcel, the tracking information was only indicating the electronic shipping information was provided. Here we sit, October 27th and the costumes have still not arrived. I ended up making a eight hour round trip to my nearest location to repurchase costumes. Here I am, over $400 in on this…With many calls going unanswered and e-mail not returned I FINALLY managed to get through to someone through the livechat, the person indicated that if the parcel eventually arrives I can refuse it and have it sent. My worry is that if I refuse to accept the parcel, will they not actually refund my money. This of course being purchased online from an American company needing to be shipped to Canada, as to the price difference was for currency exchange.

I ordered a costume on 10/22 in the morning, and later that evening got an email saying it was shipped with a tracking number. I also paid extra to get the 2 day shipping option to guarantee it would be here before halloween. It is now 10/26, and I check the tracking number, and it says the costumes have not even left the warehouse. I call customer service, and every time it says their reps are busy, and then it just hangs up the line, I can't even wait on the phone for one to become available. Would not recommend anyone using Spirit Halloween, as they don't ship items when they said they would, even when you pay extra for quicker shipping.

Awful customer service!

We visited spirit Halloween in Rockaway NJ this afternoon. The cashier Rebecca was very rude, and seems to be a racist!
She was very friendly to the white customers before us, but when we walked up next she scowled. Unbelievable!
How can people be like this!
Spirit Halloween, we expected better. We're paying customers just like everyone else. She also rounded up our change without asking. When I asked about it she was like oh do you actually want it back? Really!.
I said no it's ok and left, omg!

Bad business all around
October 26, 2022

I ordered my child's costume on the 18th and got two days shipping on it. It is now the 26th and still not here. The lady I called was rude. I demanded a refund on the shipping cost and a rude manager finally gave it to me. Who advertises two day shipping then takes a week+. This would've never happened at party city. Will not be ordering here again.

Only reason an order was placed online was because not available in store and this was the first order ever with spirit, ordered on 10-17, didn't receive until 10-24… not only is the costume not fitting properly and quality issues / super cheap for a $100 costume, but it took an entire week to travel from a warehouse 6 hours from my door! I haven't even had this costume in my possession for 24 hours and simply wanted to return it to the store, oh no they aren't taking it … called customer service and was told that I have to pay for shipping on a defective item to send back after I already paid shipping to get this crap! Are you kidding me! Own your stuff and take your product back. I want my money back, I do not want an exchange because after this is all over I will never step foot in a spirit Halloween store again with this horrible customer service. This is a size large for adult. Gloves fit like little kids gloves and the mask is way too big and cheaply made/presented.

Exchanges

The quality of products compared to price aren't equal, but I think most know that when shopping there and buy anyway since there aren't a lot of other options. I had an issue with an exchange today. We purchased two costumes yesterday and used their BOGO 25% off. Today we went back to get a smaller size for one costume. Instead of just doing an exchange she enters the price I paid, which was the 25% off item, and then scanned the new item. The original price tags were the exact same but she tells me I now owe the difference. I took it to the manager who kept showing me the screen so I could see the math. I tried to explain I'm not exchanging for a more expensive product. I also said so now you are no longer honoring the original 25% off? They just showed me the screen again. I showed them the coupon is still on their site. They said that's BOGO though. So wait, if I go home and get the 2nd costume and exchange it for the exact same thing then you could scan the coupon again and I'd owe nothing. They said yes, you can do that. Do you want to go home and get it? What the heck! I said you only use the discounted price if I am asking for a refund since that's what I actually paid, but for an exchange you compare the full price and as long as I'm not exchanging for a more expensive costume I shouldn't owe anything, and honor the original discount. They didn't get it, I dropped it and said I'd contact corporate.

Horrible customer service and no product received
October 24, 2022

I placed an order on October 10th and it is now Oct 24th. My package is "stuck" in Indiana since the 11th. That is all the information I have. I have looked up the tracking number on FedEx, where it says it shipped from, and USPS, where Spirit Halloween says it will be delivered. Called customer service to talk to a real person, only to hear they are busy and hung up on. I went to the post office and they said it is still in Indiana and that's all they can tell me. So I just ordered from Amazon to get here tomorrow. Hopefully they will not ruin my 10 year olds Halloween. Oh yeah, spirit also upcharged my purchase. Said what the price was then gave me a different subtotal and added taxes to that total. I'm very interested in why that was. If I ever get to talk to a "real person" questions will be asked.

I ordered on Oct. 18,2022 my son's Halloween costume. Paid extra to get it 2 day Shipping. Come around the 21st and I didn't receive it. Called customer service and the lady was rude. Telling me that thats just how they're system works. I asked for a refund she said no. Its now the 23rd and the package is still not here. Why offer faster shipping if you can't get there on time. First and last time I order from them.

Worst Online Ordering Experience
October 20, 2022

I ordered 3 costumes back in August 2022, which I never received. I cancelled the order and requested a refund. My total was over $100, they refunded me $26.99. To get the rest, I had to send them a screenshot of my order. They told me the rest of my refund was processed October 1st and it would take 7-14 business days. It is now October 20th, and still no refund. I contacted them again, and now they say I have to send them a screenshot of my order along with screenshots of my bank transactions showing that I haven't received the rest of my refund. Their response was "sometimes things take longer to be refunded." Spirit Halloween's online ordering service, is by far the worst I've ever dealt with.

Waiting for Replacements

I've been contacting their customer support for weeks and everytime I respond back with the information they ask for they ghost me. This has been going on for weeks now. Everytime I start a new email they ask for the same info. I'm outraged at this point!

While shopping in the Vestal NY store the staff that watches for thefts made us feel extremely uncomfortable watched every single move and weren't even trying to be discreet about what they were doing it was completely obnoxious how they were acting towards us and oth customers will never go back.

Amazing Quality and Amazing Service

I was BEYOND shocked that everything worked as well as it did, and the quality? Even the jumpsuit itself is beyond comfortable. The pistol belt may be a bit wonky but I think I just don't know how to use it, ha. Everything else, the walkie talkie, EPK METER, and ghost trap all function perfectly - and I am beyond excited for both future cosplays, and Halloween!

This is the worst experience I have had with shipping. I paid almost $14.00 to be able to get priority shipping and the promised day was October 14th. Today I was surprised cause I didn't get it and when I went to check the status said that is gonna be delivered on the 16th. I'm having a party tomorrow. What's the point of offer a service that you can accomplish! And live chat customers services was not helpful at all either. They didn't even try

I don't think I've seen something so silly...
1) I go to place an order today and select pickup... no problem. Website showed the stock at the particular location (a half hour away). Really great... HOWEVER, read on...
2) I'm about to leave the house to pick it up and realize the order never went through (later find out they canceled it with no notification).
3) I try to reorder on the website, but this time there is no option to see the stock at the location OR to even pick it up.
4) I call the help desk and they confirm that they are canceling any orders placed for pickup AND that if it doesn't go through they lock your access to purchase an order on your computer for 24 hours... all to drive people to the stores to drive down inventory. GREAT business practice!
5) The help desk can't even check on inventory... to force you into the store. Even the message prompt on the help desk automation says we can check inventory online... what in the world...

Summary: so now I have to drive a half hour just to figure out if they have what I want in stock after literally placing the order already... this place literally has a couple a of months to capitalize and they completley dropped the ball.

Sat on the phone trying to get Spirit Halloween to help with an order they messed up, and the employee repeatedly cussed and used racial slurs. Some of her favorites were the N word (used at least 3 times), F word (which she used at least 6 or more times), Sh word (also repeatedly used), A word, and B word (used 2 or 3 times). During this time, she mentioned hoping I would "hang up" because she didn't want to "figure out the system." After which, she said, "F*** it! I can't figure this s*** out. I'm just going to hang up on her." which she did. I literally sat on hold for 20 minutes, then who knows how long waiting on her. I was nice, patient, and sat quietly despite her racial slurs and cussing. I called back, stayed on hold for 30 minutes, at which point another staff member directed me to management. I sat on hold for another 15 minutes and got another staff member. This staff member directed me to management as well, at which point the manager picked up the phone and hung up. Remind you, I was livid inside at this point, but doing everything I could to be calm so that I could simply get my money or my order. There is zero excuse for this behavior!

Racist Manager

Manager came over looking at me up and down, acting snotty and asking if she can help me and following me around
I asked who her manager was and she said that she was!?
Ew! I can't stand racist people. Definitely won't be shopping here again!
Way over priced to have to deal with racism too! Was happy to shop until this happened!

I bought this Posable Dummy Prop 6 years ago and only used it twice. As I pulled it out of the box to use this year, the fabric disintegrated in my hands and the head came out of its torso. NOT THE LOOK I WAS GOING FOR! The material used to construct the dummy is obviously faulty so I figured Spirit would certainly replace it, especially since it is still being sold in their stores. I WAS WRONG. They would not even consider replacement because I had purchased it so long ago. This is a simple low-cost item that they could have easily replaced, instead of doing the right thing they ignored the poor quality of their product and lost a good customer. I WILL NOT BE DOING BUSINESS WITH SPIRIT HALLOWEEN ANYMORE.

Don't adhere to ADA laws

Went to a spirit store in muskegon/spring lake asked about bringing our emotional support animals into the store and they refused to allow us to enter with them. Accord to state and federal law that is a violation of the American disabilities act. Will no longer use or buy from this store. I think Spencer's corporation should be boy opted because of this policy. There is no posting on the doors or windows forbidding it.
