It is absolutely shocking and incredibly devious that Smilebox hides its automatic renewal policy in its Terms of Service and Terms of Use when these statements should be CLEARLY VISIBLE to customers. I am based in South Africa and this practice is ILLEGAL here and is protected by law. I cannot believe that Smilebox operates by means of such shady business practices.
When I complained to their support center, I was advised that they would not refund me because a "reminder" was sent to me... This is an extract of the email that I received:

If you are a creative type of any sort, you will absolutely love Smilebox. Even if you do not believe that you are creative, you will become creative with Smilebox. They make it so easy. Easy to use, easy to post, easy to send by e-mail, just a great tool to work with.
Saving the files doesnt work, it just saves a bunch of jpg's in a folder. Sharing through email gives you the actual slideshow but it has a big white box at the bottom and you cant make it fullscreen. 2/10 would not do again.
I've sent several different occasion cards over the past year, Each was easy and fun to make ad very different from the "norm". Great concept!

I started using this service many, many years ago and though I still love it and use it often to share photos with friends and family, I do wish there were more free template options. I don't use it often enough to justify paying even the smallest package fee so I stick with the free designs, but there aren't a whole lot of options. It is a great service though and fun to use.
Works great, awesome! I have used for my daughters bday party, halloween invites, and graduation announcements. The option to email invites along with printing is very convenient.

I can't really love Smile box. It is missing some very valuable features that are essential to event planning and hosting! Originially, I chose Smilebox because of the affordable monthly price, but other sites provide you with so much more which gives you that added security. Although the invitation I went with had a nice design that went with my theme, I was limited to getting all my event details on just one page unless I want a slideshow format that honestly doesn't have the best designs. I had to leave out a lot of vital information and tell my guest to call me for more info! The slidesshow format design options are not trendy or really creative I feel. Smilebox should work on providing the same designs for all formats and could possibly be a hit! I don't like the fact that I can't add more text boxes or addittional pages (at least one more page!) to my invite. I also hate that the information details for the card is only on the email and will appear no where else. They even have a character (word) limit on what messages you send to guest when you initially send the invite! Can you believe you can't even send additional messages to guest realistically?! I also don't like the fact that once you email your invite, you can't change details, or edit the invitation. I mean every other online invite site allows that and this would just make so much sense to provide to customers. On Smilebox if you want to change details, add info, or edit the invitations you have to recreate the invitation and send it all over again. Why!? So ridiculous! I hate the fact that you cant send event reminders to your guest either? Why not?! This is so essential! Duh! Then to top it off you cant see who opened your invite/ or who didn't view it. This is also a very essential feature that Smilebox missed the box on. I do like the fact that you can add music to your invite creation which did really make many people smile.
You don't have to go shopping for a card, everything right at your fingertips. When you pay for your membership you get access to more songs and you can add your own if you want, you also get access to premium choices so you know the receiver won't be getting something "free" anyone can send. It's worth it.
