Sephora's reputation is mixed, with customers praising the variety of products and the enticing in-store experience. However, significant dissatisfaction arises from frequent issues related to order fulfillment, shipping delays, and unresponsive customer service. Many international buyers report frustrations over lost items and inadequate support, while others express disappointment with the return policy and perceived lack of accountability. Overall, the feedback suggests a need for Sephora to enhance its customer service approach and shipping reliability to maintain loyalty and address growing competition in the beauty retail sector.

I have been a customer of Sephora exclusively for a while now and I recommend them over all other beauty stores even though I have never actually been in a physical store yet. I called the store closest to me in Taylor, MI (11/07 at 5:52 pm) to ask if they carried all the products that a full sized Sephora does since they are located inside a JC Penny's. I needed to find my color match for a pricier (but totally worth it) foundation and I didn't feel confident doing it with an online color swatch. A girl answered right away but then said, "hold on, I'll answer all your questions after I ring up this customer." I said, "sure, no problem, take your time," because I understand what it's like to be busy at work. 20 MINUTES LATER, no joke, I was still on hold, pausing my life until someone answered just to ask a quick question that would have taken 20 seconds. Thinking ok, they're only human and they probably forgot about me, I hung up and called back. 3 calls later and not one person picks up the phone. Really? Even if I was upset (which I wasn't until they started dodging my calls altogether) the least they can do is be professional and own up to their poor customer service. This experience with a Sephora brick and mortar store makes me question if I have been raving about a place that has poor customer service. I should have checked the store out myself and now I feel foolish. I HOPE that no one I have referred there has encountered the classless group of employees that I did tonight.
I find great values on their Sale page, and in combination with meeting the free shipping minimum at $50, the choice of free deluxe sample at $25 and three small samples with every purchase, the overall value is excellent. They even have their own rewards program.
Bought a set of makeup here yesterday, and so far the products are good. Great service too
Always great customer service.
Really enjoyed to shop at Sephora.
Thank you for your care about the customers.
I love their customer service online, it will take a few days for a reply, but they will fix your problem! Shipping is fast especially if you're a rogue member.
In the actual store its ok, but don't purchase anything online. They still have not refunded me my money (approximately $200.00). The Order went through my bank 3 times for one order. When I called them on Monday, they said I would have my money refunded to me by Friday. Well, Friday is now here and still haven't received it.
I'm buying lipstick from there for about a year now - never disappointed me
I love Sephora very much and I am using this service from past 1 year. You can use this online shopping sitewithout any doubts.
Melony from Roosevelt Mall (Old country Road New York) was AMAZING! She provided the best customer service and helped me with everything that i needed!
I bought a set of make-up and so far it was good. This is my first choice and will try to purchase another set.
I went to one of store in Singapore and wanted to choose a liquid foundation. Then a male staff approached me and asking me whether I need the store staff to help to choose the color shade for me. I said it would be great. Later he asked a male staff to server me. Then the male staff is telling me that he also using the same type of foundation(sorry my skin is different from yours, I'm a femeal and I don't need such information, plus I can see his make up so thick and no difference from other brand with a much more cheaper price.)I told him I'm looking the type of foundation with a kind of lasting, glowing look and also won't clone pores. Then he told me he is using the liquid foundation and other brand of face powder.(again, I don't have to know that, your look doesn't prove anything!)After that I was trying to put the foundation on my own face to see how it looks like. Then I don't know why he was keep lecturing me saying, you should never use foundation alone, if you want to have a nice look then you should focus on skin care and not foundation... Sorry it sounds like my skin care got problem? I don't have to know such useless info, you just wasting my precious time. Don't you think the staff's customer service so terrible?
Sephora caused an online debacle so huge that sent fans snapping pictures of their online purchases for return and sharing them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and swearing to boycott Sephora for alternative online beauty stores such as Ulta.com and Nordstrom.
Basically the French online and retail beauty giant duped swarms of customers into spending loads of money thinking they could redeem their points spent for merchandise.
On the day of redemption, Aug 10, a small handful of merchandise was released and sold out in mere seconds causing anger and outrage throughout the online beauty sphere.
Sephora who had deceptively marketed what was a sweepstake into a redemption programme has remained mum about the situation and even deleted all Epic Rewards posts on their Facebook page.
All communications from 1 to 13 August 2015 have essentially been deleted from Sephora's facebook page. Poor social media and marketing management indeed, Sephora.
Whenever there is any possible choice to purchase a beauty item elsewhere either directly from the manufacturer or another retailer, I would religiously do so.

$50 free shipping is always nice! Shipping time is average. Most of their Makeup is good quality and they have a decent variety. A little more affordable than some of the other nice makeup places. I wish they had a little more color variety, but that's just me!
They do have a vast variety of products and their stores are very clean and organized. Also their customer service is amazing, very kind workers. I personally think it's overrated though, and their prices are ridiculous. I bought a perfume from their for $93, found it some where else for $40. I would only go their for certain products.
Love Sephora I always buy my makeup from there and there so friendly :)
Everyone please be careful about buying things online from Sephora website! Last week, I spent my 337 hard earning money to buy many items from Sephora website, I have been working so hard, thought I deserve to buy something nice! When I received the package, guess what, they only gave me 5 out of 17 items! When I called coustomer service to clarify my order, they said they cannot give me my item because they need to start an investigation first! I have lost almost 250 hard earning money and do not know if I will ever get my missing item ever again! I will never buy anything from the company again, and I am here advice other people be careful about online shopping with this company, do not waste your hard earning money!
They have a complete collection of beauty supplies to choose from and when you buy online you can return to the store with no questions asked. I bought Wen and my hair felt dirty after using it even though I really gave it a chance. The lovely cashier at the store took back my totally used product and issued me a gift card, which I promptly spent in the store. They are fabulous!
This is literally the only one cosmetic store that I've beed using during last years! Easy to use website and huge variety of products (especially which I need). I also like that they start to sell all new things of even new brands, so I can try something new always, not the same things and same brands.
I purchase on-line a lot - I'm a VIB Rouge so I get free shipping.
I had made an order three weeks ago and still haven't received it, so I contacted customer service. The agent advised that I go to my postal outlet to see if my order had been received even though I had not been notified. I went today - my shipment hasn't been received.
So I called Sephora back. The customer service agent asked for the order number, then put me on hold for 10 minutes. She did not ask me what my concern was, what happened, what the problem was. She simply put me on hold for 10 minutes than came back and advised me that a security report had been filed and I would have to wait 14 days before anything could be done. I asked if I could get a refund. I was told I would have to wait until the security incident was closed. I asked to speak to a manager, and of course, after being placed on hold for another 10 minutes, no manager was available.
I was made to feel like a criminal! There was no explanation as to what the security report meant, what it entailed, and what the process was about. And I was told I was not allowed a refund until it "cleared". I spend a lot of money at Sephora. And even if I did not, a customer should not be treated in such an ill manner! I would give zero stars if possible.
Answer: There are a ton of great moisturizing and anti-aging products out there to help you. Sephora has so many that your head will spin, but there are also a lot of drugstore alternatives that are rated just as highly (or better) than a lot of higher-end ones. I would do some research online before ever stepping foot into a store like Sephora (trust me - they will bombard you with very expensive things you don't need). Honestly, I really like Ulta as a store better than Sephora because they carry both drugstore, middle-end, and higher-end products. (MUCH better service, too) But before you go anywhere, Google things like "best anti-aging products for mature skin" or things like that. Using multiple products, such as a glycolic toner, a serum, as well as a moisturizer is a good idea. One thing that is FANTASTIC for wrinkles and dark spots is Retin-A, but you have to get a prescription for it and it is harsh on your skin (especially if you're sensitive). It literally kills off your top layer of skin (which leads to a very annoying period of your face peeling for a few weeks), but once you get over the growing pains, your skin is amazing. I was diagnosed with melasma, which is hyperpigmentation of the skin, on my face, so my doctor gave me Retin-A and hydroquinone, which really works at fading dark spots. If you can't afford the Retin-A (mine is over $200 a tube), there are a lot of great OTC products that contain retinol and work well, just not like the Rx version. Neutrogena has a great line of products for dark spots and wrinkles. But like I said, do your research and don't let sales reps push you into really expensive products, because they get a commission, and you may get stuck with a bad product and an empty wallet. Hope this helps!
Answer: This is Sephora's list of current promo codes. They should always be valid - whether you get them to actually give you what they're supposed to is always a gamble. To get a birthday promo, you have to join their Beauty Insiders club. It's free - just go to their website.
Answer: Yes. I have to take Care of my skin in every routine when my acne appears
Answer: Yes! They have a VERY liberal return policy. You can try most products in store, as well. But, if you do buy something that you don't agree with, for any reason, don't worry. They exchange easily. I always use Sephora.com... never have had a problem returning for any reason whatsoever.
